Chapter 367 A Reconciliation is Possible (1/2)

Wang Zhineng's face instantly became incredibly interesting. Her shoulders trembled as if she had suffered a great humiliation. She subconsciously glanced in Chi Yan's direction, looking pitiful and hoping that he would say a few words for her.

But Chi Yan was staring blankly at Shen Tangning, his mind filled with self-satisfaction that "she didn't tell me to get lost but told someone else to get lost" and "she really loves me to death," and he didn't notice anything else at all.

Realizing that placing her hopes on him was unrealistic, Wang Zhineng was filled with shame and indignation, and ran away covering her face.

Shen Tangning's gaze finally fell on Chi Yan, and that emotionless look instantly silenced his wandering thoughts. He awkwardly cleared his throat.

"Um... I really didn't let her in! I wasn't paying attention, and she just barged in."

Having known Shen Tangning for so long, he had never heard her swear. Even when she was angry, she always maintained good manners. But she made an exception for him just now. Undeniably, Chi Yan felt a little secretly pleased.

But he was also afraid that she might misunderstand something, so he explained in a very serious tone.

She gave a soft "hmm," seemingly unsure whether she believed him or not, then stepped forward, her gaze lingering on his shoulder for a moment before asking, "How did you get that?"

Despite his cold tone, his concern was unmistakable, and Chi Yan's mood inexplicably improved. He pursed his lips slightly and said, "It's nothing. I was just handling a case today and was accidentally attacked from behind."

Shen Tangning didn't know what to say. Just then, Ba Liang returned with his things. He was completely unaware of what had just happened and was somewhat surprised to see her there. However, he quickly cheered up: "Young Madam, you're not asleep?"

Ba Liang put down the basin, along with gauze and wound medicine, and handed it to Shen Tangning, who was about to leave: "Young Madam, you've come at the right time! I'm clumsy, so it's more appropriate for you to do this kind of thing!"

He flashed a bright white smile, and then received an approving glance from his young master:

Well done, you're getting better and better!

Shen Tangning's words of refusal were on the tip of her tongue, but he forcibly swallowed them back. Under Ba Liang's earnest gaze, she froze for a moment before taking the things from his hands.

Ba Liang Chaochi Yan exchanged a knowing glance, then turned and left with a sly look, thoughtfully closing the door behind him.

A brief silence fell over the room. Chi Yan coughed lightly, his fist pressed to his lips, and said reproachfully, "This kid is so inconsiderate. I could have done this myself. Why bother you?"

Shen Tangning glanced at him and calmly asked, "The injury is on your shoulder. Are you sure you can handle it yourself?"

He frowned, feigning difficulty, and said, "Then... I'll have to trouble you, Madam."

She didn't speak again, silently soaking the handkerchief in water and wringing it out. She was still angry, whether at Chi Yan or Wang Zhi Ning, or both.

If it weren't for the fact that he was injured, she would never have wanted to talk to him.

As soon as she turned around, Chi Yan had already thrown his outer robe aside and was sitting there shirtless, waiting for her without feeling embarrassed at all.

Recalling how he had acted evasively and like a forced, respectable man when facing Wang Zhineng, a strange emotion flickered in her eyes.

Chi Yan was subtly showing off his muscular physique. Look at those neatly built abs and those clearly defined V-lines; even he couldn't help but admire them.

When he looked up again, he saw that she looked perfectly normal, without even blushing. The way she looked at him was no different from how she looked at pork on a chopping board. He immediately stopped his peacock-like display and his expression gradually became serious.

Something's not right. Before, she would blush so easily when we just held hands, why is she so calm now? Has his charm faded?

A sudden pain shot through his shoulder, and Chi Yan gasped, "Gently...gently, it hurts!"

Shen Tangning pressed the handkerchief to his wound and said in a flat tone, "I'm cleaning the wound, so bear with the pain."

He couldn't help but secretly wonder if she was doing it on purpose.

After cleaning the blood around the wound, she began applying medicine. Just then, Chi Yan's tentative voice came from behind her: "Did I do something to upset you?"
