Just as Chi Yan was about to scoop some soup into his mouth, footsteps sounded at the door. He instinctively looked up and saw Xue Qing smiling at him.
"Young master, Miss wants you to come over."
He raised an eyebrow and immediately stood up: "She hasn't rested yet?"
Xueqing blinked and smiled meaningfully: "Yes, I was waiting for you on purpose."
Chi Yan's breath hitched slightly. Suppressing his excitement, he walked outside. Although he was surprised by Shen Tangning's initiative, he was glad she was willing to see him. It was better to clear up some misunderstandings face to face.
The room was pitch black. Chi Yan frowned in confusion: "Why aren't there any lights?"
He paused slightly, noticing someone approaching, and remained silent for a moment.
Even with his wrist grabbed, Chi Yan didn't break free. Although the room was pitch black, it wasn't completely dark; a sliver of moonlight shone in from the window.
He could see Shen Tangning standing in front of him, looking up at him intently. After a moment, she pulled him toward the wall near the study.
The reduced visual perception made Chi Yan's tactile sensations even more vivid; he felt that the hand holding his was soft and boneless, with a touch of coolness.
Suppressing his inappropriate wandering thoughts, Chi Yan touched his nose and casually asked, "What's going on? Our family isn't so poor that we need to save on lamp oil, is it?"
Seemingly annoyed by his chatter, Shen Tangning finally spoke, her voice tinged with displeasure: "Shut up, or you'll see through my act."
