Chapter 418 I Want to Swear (2/2)

Granny Tang looked at her in shock, seemingly not expecting her to have such a bad temper, getting angry over just a few words!

Before Shen Tangning could even step out the door, she bumped into Chi Jingyu, who was returning. Chi Jingyu's brows relaxed: "Waiting for me?"

She gave a cold snort, as if laughing at his wishful thinking, and turned to leave. Chi Jingyu sensed that the atmosphere was not right and stopped her: "Let's eat first."

Shen Tangning frowned and glanced at him, somewhat impatiently: "I'm not hungry."

"I'm hungry." Chi Jingyu said calmly under her increasingly indifferent gaze. "After you finish eating with me, I can tell you some things that interest you."

He finished speaking and stepped into the house, not worried that she would turn around and leave.

Shen Tangning stood at the door for a while, her expression unreadable, then turned back and silently sat down.

Chi Jingyu said calmly, "If Madam is hungry, she doesn't need to wait for me in the future."

These words were spoken to Granny Tang, whose face stiffened for a moment. She gave Shen Tangning a strange look and stammered in agreement.

The two hadn't eaten together for a long time, and Chi Jingyu had a feeling of being in another world. He was happy and a faint smile appeared on his lips, but when he looked up and saw that she rarely touched her chopsticks and seemed uninterested, his smile faded.

"Not to your liking?"

No, these dishes were prepared according to her preferences.

Shen Tangning replied lazily, "Not really."

As she spoke, she casually pointed out a few more shortcomings, which made Granny Tang's face turn green.

That's just nitpicking!

Normally, Shen Tangning wouldn't make things difficult for servants, but she disliked this Granny Tang very much in every way, so she didn't hesitate to make things unpleasant for her.

Chi Jingyu pondered for a moment, then looked up at Tang Mama: "Have you remembered everything Madam said?"

Tang Mama's face was as stiff as a wooden block, and she replied awkwardly, "This servant has remembered."

With the blockage in her heart eased, Shen Tangning reluctantly picked up her chopsticks.

After waiting for a while, Chi Jingyu finally finished eating at a leisurely pace. He looked up at Shen Tangning, who had been waiting for a long time, and took the initiative to suggest, "Let's go for a walk in the courtyard?"

Her patience was almost exhausted, but she still stood up with a cold face.

The two strolled around for a while, but Chi Jingyu hesitated to get to the point. Instead, he pointed to a corner in the courtyard and reminisced with her: "I once heard from the servants that you liked standing there, so I had a swing made. Do you like it?"

Shen Tangning slightly raised her eyelids to look over, her smile forced: "Swinging on a swing in the dead of winter?"

She felt that Chi Jingyu was indeed quite ill.

He seemed to have thought of something, and his expression softened: "I almost forgot you're afraid of the cold. Let's come again when it's warmer."

She interrupted him, controlling her emotions: "What exactly do you want to say to me?"

Actually, she also had many questions for Chi Jingyu. He had lived for many more years than her, and there were some things she didn't know, but he might know them.

Chi Jingyu averted his gaze, his dark eyes fixed on her: "Chen Ci is not dead."

These words sounded strange, but they were both able to understand them. Shen Tangning's heart skipped a beat, and she inexplicably recalled the scene in her dream. She asked in a slow tone:

"What did you say?"

β€œIn your past life, Shen Ci, your younger brother did not die.” He seemed quite pleased with her shock, his eyes fixed on her intently. He paused, then said, β€œI saved him.”

Shen Tangning's lips moved, and for a fleeting moment she wanted to swear: "..."
