Chapter 426 The Silver Mask (2/2)

After being exposed to the wind for so long, her head was still dizzy and she was still recovering from her illness. The veins on her forehead were throbbing and painful, but she was determined not to fall into Chi Jingyu's den of thieves again!

He had no choice but to step back, leaving a safe distance, and looked at her disapprovingly: "It's not safe for you to run around like this."

She gave a cold laugh: "You think you're safe just because you're around?"

As she spoke, she looked him over with disgust and casually warned, "The Third Prince's fate is sealed. If I were you, I'd better keep a low profile!"

Upon hearing this, Chi Jingyu smiled enigmatically: "This time, I'm not standing on the side of the Third Prince."

Shen Tangning was stunned for a moment, and a strange emotion welled up in her heart. If it wasn't the Third Prince, then who was it?

"Do you want to know?" Chi Jingyu diverted her attention, subtly winking at the person approaching behind her. By the time Shen Tangning noticed, it was too late.

The dizziness in her head made her reaction somewhat sluggish. Just as she was about to turn around alertly, her arm suddenly went weak and she lost all strength. The sword in her hand also fell to the ground with a "clatter".

Chi Jingyu rushed forward to support her, and Shen Tangning immediately tried to struggle, but his tone was somewhat heavy: "Don't move, I'll take you to a safe place!"

She forced open her heavy eyelids and glared at him mockingly: "None of your business, you despicable scoundrel!"

He was indifferent, forcefully pulling her away from the glint of swords outside. Her forehead was burning hot, her body was weak and sore, and she was almost being dragged along. She lifted her thick eyelashes, hoping to find a familiar figure.

However, everyone is in danger right now, and everyone is busy escaping for their lives, so no one cares about her at all.

"Weren't you curious about who I'm standing on this time?" Chi Jingyu couldn't help but speak up when he saw that she was really resistant.

She indeed fell silent for a moment. He raised the corners of his lips and was about to speak when the sound of horses' hooves came from outside the palace walls in the distance. Chi Jingyu looked up and could only see the tall vermilion walls, so he couldn't help but frown.

Shen Tangning broke free of her chaotic thoughts and looked over. She heard several muffled bugle calls and murmured to herself:

"This is……"

From the distant palace gates, a dense, dark mass of figures surged in, like a dark cloud pressing down.

The birds resting on the glazed tiles were startled and flew away in large numbers, flapping their wings and rushing into the sky. She lowered her eyelashes and stared at the golden armor-like formations.

Chi Jingyu, who was standing next to her, explained: "It's the Qianlin Guard."

His tone was somber, like dripping water, but Shen Tangning didn't notice his unusual behavior. Her gaze involuntarily fell on the figure at the front.

The man stood on horseback, tall and upright. Even the ordinary armor looked exceptionally good on him. Most importantly, he wore a silver mask.

It was exactly the same as in my dream.

Her breathing quickened, and her mind went blank for a moment.

Immediately afterward, from a great distance, the man glanced in her direction. She couldn't see the emotion in his eyes, but the next moment, he raised his bow and arrow without hesitation and aimed it at her.

The arrow flew out of the bowstring, giving her almost no chance to react. Shen Tangning stood motionless, her legs seemingly made of lead and held firmly in place.

Chi Jingyu's urgent exclamation rang out behind her as she watched the gleaming arrow approaching her, whipping up a fierce gust of wind!

Then he brushed past her and shot towards Chi Jingyu behind her.

Chi Jingyu was shot in the shoulder, the force of which slammed him to the ground. He was forced to release his grip on Shen Tangning, his face filled with disbelief.

She glanced back at him a beat late, then looked up at the silver mask rushing towards her, and suddenly remembered.

She had seen this scene in that dream.
