The Tianji Continent is divided into nine provinces, with Yunzhou located in the due north of the continent.
The Tianyu Dynasty is a small country located in the eastern part of Yunzhou, while Linyuan City, where Shen Yunhao is located, is a major coastal town within the territory of the Tianyu Dynasty.
The main reason it was named Linyuan City is that about 40 or 50 miles north of the city, there is a giant rift valley called "Tianyuan" that passes through it.
Tianyuan begins to form from the Tianshan Mountains, extends southeastward for tens of thousands of miles, and separates nearly a quarter of the northeastern region of Yunzhou.
It is the second largest rift valley in the entire Tianji Continent, second only to the "Dark Abyss" in the center of the continent in length and size.
The Tianshan Mountains, located at the northwestern end of Tianyuan, are situated directly north of Yunzhou and represent the highest elevation area in Yunzhou.
The Guanghan Palace, where Ning Yuyao resides, was founded in the Tianshan Mountains.
The other end of Tianyuan leads directly to Longhai, and opposite Longhai is another continent located in the northeast of Tianji Continent... Danzhou.
The Tianyuan, nearly ten thousand miles long, divides Yunzhou into two parts. Its depth and width vary with its direction. The deepest part is located thousands of feet below the ground. The cliffs on both sides are tens of miles apart, making it almost impossible for mortals to cross!
Near the mouth of the sea, the Tianyuan reaches its minimum depth, only a few hundred feet. Standing on either side, one can vaguely see a large river flowing out of the abyss and into the Longhai Sea.
Because this river flows at the bottom of a deep abyss, where even sunlight can hardly penetrate, it resembles the legendary River Styx, which exists in hell. Therefore, people named it the River Ming (溟河) based on the similar pronunciation.
...
Shen Yunhao slowly opened his eyes, only to find that everything in front of him was pitch black.
"Gurgle, gurgle..."
A rustling sound filled my ears, like the sound of a carriage wheels rolling.
After a moment of stunned silence, Shen Yunhao immediately realized that he had been kidnapped.
Just as Shen Yunhao raised his hands to remove the burlap covering his head, a sharp pain suddenly shot through his head!
"Bang! Clatter..."
With a dull thud, Shen Yunhao felt the world spin, and darkness once again enveloped him...
Before he lost consciousness, he vaguely heard the voices of two middle-aged men talking.
"What happened? How come this kid woke up so quickly?"
"I don't know! Logically speaking, even a cow would sleep for a whole day after taking this much. There's something fishy about this kid..."
"Forget it... we're not going to live much anyway, let's just take care of our own things..."
After that, Shen Yunhao could no longer hear anything.
...
Shen Yunhao had a dream in which he was thrown into a huge abyss and fell and fell until he landed in the deepest part of the Styx River.
The river water was icy cold, almost freezing one's soul.
He struggled desperately, but found that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move an inch. He could only watch helplessly as his body gradually stiffened and his consciousness became increasingly blurred.
Am I going to die...?
"Tick-tock...tick-tock..."
Droplets of water fell onto the boy's tender face, and soon woke Shen Yunhao from his "sleep".
"Ouch... my head hurts so much..."
Upon regaining consciousness, Shen Yunhao immediately touched his head. His wet hair was still slightly warm, and even the slightest touch caused a burning pain.
Clearly, that blow left an unforgettable memory on Shen Yunhao's young mind and body.
But it was this pain that made Shen Yunhao realize.
"I...I'm not dead yet?"
He opened his eyes and took a deep breath.
The light here is very dim, with no sunlight shining in. Only faint wisps of fluorescent light flicker on and off, like fireflies dancing in the night sky.
By the faint light, Shen Yunhao found himself in a rocky cave, with many cone-shaped stone pillars resembling stalactites hanging upside down above him, their tips dripping with milky white water droplets.
He lay beneath one of the stone cones, and the water droplets fell directly onto his face.
Apart from the sound of dripping water, there was no other noise; everything was very quiet.
Suppressing his fear and unease, Shen Yunhao began to control his body movements.
Fortunately, apart from the blow to the head, there was no other pain, and he was conscious and could still feel touch.
"Thankfully, at least my body is still intact..."
The suffocating feeling of his body gradually stiffening in the dream still lingered in his mind. If he hadn't experienced death once before, he probably would have lost the ability to think by now...
With a sigh of relief, Shen Yunhao finally got up from the ground.
"Wasn't I kidnapped? Where am I? It looks like a cave at the bottom of a mountain..."
At this moment, he noticed that in addition to his head, his clothes were also slightly damp, and there was a patch of water that had not completely dried on the ground beneath him.
"I'm wet. Could the scene in my dream be real? I fell into the water once before? But why am I here?"
After thinking for a while without any clue, he began to look around at the scenery.
After looking around, Shen Yunhao's attention was drawn to the glowing stones.
To be precise, it was a layer of moss-like vegetation covering the rocks that emitted a faint green fluorescence, enough to make something visible in the completely dark environment.
"There's glowing moss here? Doraemon wasn't lying to me..."
Shen Yunhao had just made a joke when he suddenly noticed that one of the "glowing stones" had moved!
