Chapter 23 His waist looked strong.

Chapter 23

This private room is similar in layout to the one next door. Both have a small courtyard outside the main hall, where pink and white lotus flowers are in full bloom in the huge earthenware jars during the height of summer.

The lights were on in every corner of the room, and the bright light made the red floral carpet almost white. Wen Yining was the only one in the large private room. She took out her phone to try to distract herself, but she felt dizzy as soon as she looked at the screen.

After sitting there for a while, the effects of the alcohol she had just drunk slowly kicked in, and Wen Yining's once clear mind was now half-drunk.

After waiting for an unknown amount of time, Li Changjing walked in and was about to take her out when she saw his handsome face.

Wen Yining felt as if a switch had been flipped in her brain, making it suddenly very active and excited.

As Li Changjing half-embraced her and carried her out, Wen Yining's bright, clear eyes widened and sparkled, her voice unusually excited: "Li Changjing, I'm so dizzy!"

"You're drunk."

"No, no, no, I'm not drunk!" Wen Yining really felt that she wasn't drunk. "I feel very clear-headed right now, so clear-headed that I could do a calculus problem right here. I'm just a little dizzy, and I really want to talk."

Li Changjing used one hand to press the elevator button, without answering her.

There is no need to communicate with someone who is mentally unstable.

She'd probably throw up in the car if she went back like this, so he'd already asked Luo Hao to book a room for her at the hotel's guest room department and was ready to take her up.

Before Li Changjing could speak, Wen Yining felt that he didn't believe her. To prove that she wasn't drunk, she tugged at him and said, "I'm really not drunk. You have to believe me. Look at me. I'm only dizzy and have no other reaction. If you don't believe me, give me a question, and I can answer it right away."

Unexpectedly, this usually quiet girl became a chatterbox when drunk; before he could even speak, she could start performing her own drama.

"I know that saying 'I'm not drunk' is something drunk people usually say, but I really am not drunk."

Upon hearing this, Li Changjing slightly curled the corners of his mouth.

Wen Yining felt that she was very clear-headed and could speak these words in a logical and coherent manner, but as soon as she finished speaking, she couldn't help but chuckle twice.

At first, she didn't even realize that she was laughing. It wasn't until she heard the sound that she realized it was her making that noise. She frowned and blurted out in disgust, "Was that me laughing? How lewd! Hehe, but I really want to laugh, Li Changjing. I also really want to talk. What do you think I should say?"

Li Changjing half-carried her into the elevator, pressed the floor button, and turned to look at her. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, her eyes were bright and sparkling, as if they were filled with water, and there was an unconscious smile on her lips. Her whole demeanor had a kind of clear, excited innocence, like some kind of small animal hatching from its shell and seeing the world for the first time.

He suddenly found her behavior quite interesting. "So what do you want to say? Let me hear it."

Wen Yining really looked serious and thought for a moment, "I want to call out to Li Changjing!"

He was slightly taken aback by the unexpected answer, then asked with interest, "Why?"

Li Changjing couldn't help but smile.

Looking at Wen Yining, who was half-drunk at this moment, was like looking at a different version of her.

I couldn't resist teasing her, "Then do you know who I am?"

“I know, you are Li Changjing.” Wen Yining said dismissively.

"Hmm, anything else?"

Wen Yining looked bewildered: "What? There's more?"

Her eyelashes were long, not the kind that curled up in an arc, but straight, just like her personality. At this moment, she had a blank expression with her eyes half-open, and her eyelashes, like butterfly wings, cast light shadows on her fair skin.

Its expression was like that of an innocent cub.

Slender, innocent.

Li Changjing's gaze swept over her face inch by inch, a destructive urge suddenly rising in his eyes. The hand around her shoulder tightened, but the smile on his lips became even gentler. "What else should you call me?"

Wen Yining felt a little pain from being strangled and instinctively tried to struggle, but was pulled even tighter. She frowned and said, "I can't remember."

"Then shall I tell you?"

"OK."

"So what do you want to do?" Li Changjing asked her with a smile in a low voice.

As Wen Yining was pondering, the elevator doors opened, and Li Changjing led her out.

Two people walked towards us down the corridor. A good-looking young man with a somewhat effeminate air was struggling to support a jeweled woman who looked to be in her fifties and could be his mother.

The woman was clearly drunk, and quite drunk.

From afar, the woman's hazy gaze swept over Li Changjing, who was supporting Wen Yining. Her eyes suddenly lit up, and she scanned him from top to bottom and then from bottom to top, focusing on his face, waist, and legs. She completely ignored Li Changjing's expression and the aura he exuded, and stretched out her arm to approach the two of them.

A drunk person can be surprisingly strong. Although the young man was a head taller than her, he was thin and weak, and she managed to pull him over. Sweat was beading on his forehead as he cried out, "Sister Wang! Sister Wang!"

Sister Wang smiled broadly, her eyes darting back and forth between Li Changjing and her brother. "Little brother! What's your name? Tell me!"

Once Li Changjing's face turned cold, he exuded an imposing aura of authority.

The young man's heart skipped a beat when he saw her staring at him, and he instinctively hugged Sister Wang tightly as she was about to walk away.

She apologized repeatedly, "I'm so sorry, she was drunk, it wasn't intentional! I'm so sorry!"

He tugged at the middle-aged woman, trying to block her view, and whispered, "Sister Wang! Wake up!"

Li Changjing walked past the two without expression, leading Wen Yining towards the room.

Wen Yining turned her head in his arms, looking blankly at the two people behind her.

Sister Wang was still looking at Li Changjing, and it seemed she was going to come over again. The young man held her with both arms, gritting his teeth, his face red from the effort, as if he was using all his strength: "Sister Wang, let's go back quickly. Didn't you say you only liked me?"

Sister Wang was still squinting at Li Changjing, clicking her tongue in amazement: "That waist, it looks strong!"

Your waist... feels strong?

What is it?

Upon hearing this, Wen Yining turned around unconsciously and looked down at Li Changjing's waist. She couldn't see anything through his clothes, but she could clearly see that he was very tall and his legs were very long, much longer than hers.

But how did the word "waist" become associated with the word "strong"?

Wen Yining stared at it for a while, trying to understand the meaning of the sentence even after thinking about it for a long time with her dull brain.

As she watched, she seemed to sense something and slowly raised her head along his waist, meeting Li Changjing's gaze as he looked down at her.

He narrowed his eyes, his tone slow and dangerous, "Ningning, what are you looking at?"

Half-drunk, Wen Yining subconsciously answered obediently, "Um, she said your waist is strong. What's strong? Your waist is strong?"

As she spoke, she couldn't help but take another look, "It looks very fine."

Li Changjing's gaze darkened as he looked at her.

Wen Yining was completely oblivious and was still struggling with the question. She felt that she should be able to understand the meaning of the sentence, but her brain was foggy and she just couldn't grasp it. The answer was like looking through a thin layer of paper, making her a little anxious.

Li Changjing realized she genuinely didn't understand, and as he listened to her repeatedly studying the sentence, the coldness in his eyes dissipated.

After turning the corner, they arrived at the room. Luo Hao was waiting outside with the room key in hand. When he saw the two of them come over, he opened the door, inserted the key, and then left with a keen eye.

Li Changjing carried Wen Yining inside and placed her on the sofa. Although the little girl was drunk, she was very well-behaved and didn't move around at all, except for talking.

Li Changjing stood in front of her, looking at her.

Wen Yining sat on the sofa, feeling dizzy and lightheaded, like a mushroom, swaying uncontrollably. She looked up and found that Li Changjing had been watching her.

A smile played on his lips, his voice gentle and almost seductive: "Ningning, do you want to know what that sentence means?"

Wen Yining nodded: "What do you mean?"

Li Changjing suddenly moved closer to her and reached out a hand. Wen Yining instinctively grasped it, but he suddenly exerted force, causing Wen Yining to lose her balance and be pulled forward. Her head and upper body bumped into his lower abdomen, and the touch on her face was both soft and hard. She smelled a faint, cool, pleasant scent and a very faint smell of smoke. Before she could react, he took her hand again and placed it on his waist.

Wen Yining, half-drunk and stiff, completely forgot about being shy. Stunned, she blurted out, "Your waist is so slender."

Li Changjing was about to speak.

Suddenly, a bell rang between the two of them.

He paused in his movements.

Wen Yining sat up straight and reminded her, "Your phone is ringing."

Li Changjing released her, frowned, took out his phone to look at the screen, and walked to the window to answer the call.

He returned quickly, his expression aloof and serious.

"Ningning, you rest here, I'm going out for a bit."

Upon hearing that he was going out, Wen Yining subconsciously frowned, mustered her courage, reached out to tug at his clothes, and looked up at him, "How long are you going to be gone?"

"What's wrong?"

She wanted to say she couldn't bear to part with him, but the last vestiges of her consciousness made it inexplicably impossible for her to speak.

The phone rang again. He frowned, took out his phone, and while looking at the screen, he removed her hand and absentmindedly coaxed her gently, "I'll be back soon. You should rest."

Before she could finish speaking, Li Changjing removed her hand, swiped the screen, put the phone to his ear, and turned to leave.

Wen Yining turned her head and saw Li Changjing's figure disappear through the door. It took her a while to react, and the room was silent.

She lowered her head and said softly, "Alright then."

It was already completely dark outside. Subconsciously, she remembered to wait for Li Changjing to return, but she unknowingly fell asleep on the sofa. She didn't know how long she slept, but her stomach started churning, which woke her up. The moment she opened her eyes, she felt extremely dizzy, and she instinctively rushed into the bathroom.

My stomach felt like it was being squeezed, and vomit came out mixed with large, dry tears.

After vomiting, her stomach felt much better, and she sobered up considerably. After cleaning up, Wen Yining finally realized what was happening. Her eyelashes were still damp, and her face was pale.

I took out my phone to check the time; it was already past midnight, and Li Changjing still hadn't returned.

He probably has something urgent to attend to.

Wen Yining clutched her aching, empty stomach, bent over, and walked out of the bathroom, sitting on the sofa.

She opened her WeChat chat with Li Changjing, typed, and hesitated before sending, looking at his profile picture and the last message from their last chat.

Even though they added each other on WeChat, they've only chatted a handful of times; the last time was a week ago.

She deleted that line again.

It's best not to bother him.

Perhaps he really had something urgent to attend to, after all, he's so busy with work.

Time passed second by second, and a long time went by, but Li Changjing still did not return.

Wen Yining clutched her stomach and nestled on the sofa, her thoughts drifting back to the time before Li Changjing left.

She wasn't completely drunk at the time, and her memory was a bit hazy, but she still remembered his gentle yet perfunctory tone.

He was indeed very good to her, but when it came down to it, everything he did took precedence over her...

The room was clean, tidy, and luxuriously furnished. The white light overhead shone on the white bed, which was cold and devoid of any warmth. The air conditioning blowing from above made the room feel like an icebox.

Wen Yining looked at the unfamiliar room and listened to the quiet room where only her own breathing could be heard.

But suddenly I felt a little sad.
