Chapter 40: Snowstorm in the North City

Chapter 40: Snowstorm in the North City

Chapter 40

Li Changjing made a gesture for silence, waved to his bodyguard, who saw the phone by his ear, nodded, and walked out, gently closing the door behind him.

He sat on the stool, expressionless but pale, enduring the pain until it subsided, a fine layer of sweat on his forehead.

"Li Changjing? Li Changjing?"

After a long while, he finally gave a soft "hmm".

Wen Yining sensed something was wrong: "Are you alright?"

Li Changjing wanted to speak, but after opening his mouth, he hung up the phone, sent her a WeChat message with an explanation, and then called for someone to come in with a hoarse voice.

Wen Yining looked at the message he sent about a sudden meeting, replied with a frog nodding wildly emoji, and stuffed her phone into her pocket. The snow had only been falling for a short while, but the ground and trees were already covered in snow. Fully bundled up, Wen Yining went downstairs to play in the snow with Gu Lingling and the others.

The snow kept falling until it was completely dark. Under the glow of the snow lamps, the sky was bright white. More and more people were on campus, and on the playground, teams even formed to have a snowball fight. There were so many of them that they looked like a football team. They didn't care whether they knew each other or not, and they started throwing snowballs as soon as they wanted. Wen Yining felt that her face was stiff from smiling. She had never smiled so much before.

Taking a break during the intermission, I stood on the outskirts of the battlefield and used my frozen, carrot-shaped fingers to take a video of Li Changjing and the battlefield behind her using the front camera.

Putting her phone in her pocket, Wen Yining smiled as she looked at the scene ahead, unable to help but exhale a breath of white mist, a faint regret in her heart.

It would be great if Li Changjing were here too.

At many moments, she often felt regret, wishing he were here.

Hearing Li Changjing call for help, the bodyguards and aunties waiting outside rushed in. The auntie who had taken care of him since he was a child saw him being practically carried into the car and turned away to secretly wipe her tears.

There are many people in 301, and this injury is something that can't be shown to others. If I go to the hospital, I don't know what kind of rumors will be spread. When I was a child, I always found an outside doctor to come to my house to treat me.

Li Changjing coldly ordered his bodyguard to drive the car back to his home. Calling it home was really just a place to stay. Before, Wen Yining would still be there every Saturday and Sunday, and he would make a point of going back from his office after working overtime. Now that she's gone, he spends most of his time in the office and doesn't go home until the evening.

Li Changjing leaned back on the sofa, his legs covered with more than 20 silver needles of varying sizes. He watched the video Wen Yining had sent him on his phone twice, then turned to look at the heavy snow falling under the lamplight outside the window and smiled.

The snow fell on and off for two days. Wen Yining had planned to go see the snow with Li Changjing over the weekend, but she heard that he had gone on a business trip out of town. She could only regretfully promise him that they must go out next time there is heavy snow.

Li Changjing spent a week at home, receiving daily acupuncture, before he finally recovered completely from his injury.

Winter break is just around the corner, and it's Wen Yining's 19th birthday, followed by the Lunar New Year. This is the first Lunar New Year that Wen Yining and Li Changjing have spent together since they met, although they are separated by distance...

The winter break seemed to fly by, and school started again in the blink of an eye. Yue Feng was still the one who picked her up.

When they arrived in Beicheng, it was already completely dark. It was snowing heavily that day, and the traffic was completely jammed before they even entered the Third Ring Road. There was a long line of cars on the overpass, with red taillights lit up one after another. Li Changjing was entertaining someone and had someone arrange for Wen Yining to stay in the guest room department of the hotel where he was entertaining someone.

After not seeing Li Changjing for a whole winter break, Wen Yining had planned to wait for him to return, but after a long day of travel, she fell asleep on the sofa after dinner and washing up.

When Li Changjing came in from outside, reeking of alcohol from a social gathering, he saw Wen Yining lying asleep on the sofa, the warm, dim light shining on her peaceful profile.

Outside, snow was falling heavily, but inside, it was peaceful and serene. The little girl I liked was sleeping quietly inside, waiting for me. Looking at her, it felt like my heart calmed down too.

He turned up the temperature, covered her with a blanket, and stood in front of the sofa staring at her for a while before quietly going to the bathroom to wash away the smell of smoke and alcohol.

I had planned to take her home after we got back, but since she's sleeping so soundly, I'll just have to let her sleep in the hotel tonight.

Wen Yining is not used to sleeping in unfamiliar beds and didn't sleep very soundly on the sofa. When she opened her eyes and saw the blanket on her body, she guessed that Li Changjing had returned. She got up and looked for him in the room. As she passed the bathroom door, the door opened and Li Changjing came out wearing a bathrobe with wet black hair. The warm, damp steam and a faint fragrance wafted towards her.

The hotel shower gel he used smelled the same as hers. His hair fell over his forehead, slightly obscuring his eyebrows and eyes, making him look much softer and more youthful. At first glance, he looked like a senior from her school, a refreshing and refined young man.

When Wen Yining looked up, she met his gaze. Li Changjing was also looking at her. Perhaps because the main light in the room wasn't on, his eyes seemed to be an impenetrable darkness. His gaze seemed to be warm, making her inexplicably flustered and her face slightly flushed.

Wen Yining changed the subject, "When...when did you finish?"

Upon hearing this, Li Changjing shifted his gaze to her face. Instead of answering her question, he stepped forward, took her hand, and led her to the mirror. The huge dressing mirror reflected the two people, one tall and one short, standing side by side.

Wen Yining was wearing her own pajamas, while Li Changjing was wearing a hotel bathrobe; hers just reached his neck.

The two people actually have some similarities in some ways: quiet, reserved, with uniformly porcelain-white skin, and when they stand together, it seems as if something invisible connects and envelops them.

Gu Lingling commented that they looked like a couple.

Li Changjing stared at her reflection in the mirror for a moment, then said out of the blue, "Ningning, have you grown up?"

Just as Wen Yining was about to speak, Li Changjing gently turned her around by pressing her shoulders. She was now pressed against the wall, her lower abdomen tightly encircled from behind by a strong arm. Before she could react, a warm body pressed against her back. In front of her was the cold wall, and with Li Changjing pressed against her from behind, Wen Yining felt as if she were being burned by his breath and temperature. Her heart suddenly accelerated and pounded in her chest.

Wen Yining's long, smooth, black hair cascaded over her shoulders. Li Changjing gently parted her hair, revealing her fair and slender neck, which, under the light, was delicate and white, gleaming with a warm glow like mutton fat jade.

On the first night they met, when she bent down, his gaze fell on her beautiful, porcelain-white neck. Li Changjing stared at that skin and examined it closely. Then, he did something he had wanted to do ever since he first saw her.

He kissed her gently, softly, from her earlobe down to her neck, sending tingling, electric-like sensations coursing through her skin to her heart. His warm breath caressed her neck, and Wen Yining's breathing quickened, her heart racing.

Then I felt his other hand reach out in front of me.

Li Changjing pressed her against the wall and gently inhaled the scent of her snow-white neck from behind, while one hand slowly reached around from behind to unbutton her shirt.

One button at a time, gradually moving upwards, closer to the buttons on her chest, Wen Yining felt his fingers lightly brushing against her bra during his movements. Her ears and cheeks turned a light pink, and under his kisses and actions, Wen Yining felt as if her whole body was on fire.

Li Changjing moved slowly, giving her a chance to refuse to break free.

No man can kiss and hug his girlfriend without getting a reaction, but she's too young—no, actually she's not young anymore, she's 19, long past adulthood—but he can't bring himself to do it again and again.

He knew he was far from being a gentleman, yet he had acted like a saint in her eyes for almost a year.

He endured it time and time again, hiding his desires and putting on a gentle and indifferent appearance. He himself didn't know that he could be so kind and soft-hearted.

This time, he didn't want to tolerate it anymore.

Li Changjing was holding her too tightly, and in that position, even the slightest change in their bodies could be clearly felt by each other. Wen Yining felt her legs go weak and tremble slightly as she felt her back. She roughly knew what he was going to do. She closed her eyes, her long eyelashes trembling wildly.

She did not refuse.

But this was more terrifying than Wen Yining had imagined. At the last moment, she looked up, panting, at Li Changjing, who was pressing down on her. His dark, hoarse eyes were fixed on her, his gaze both suppressed and frantic, as if he wanted to chew her up and eat her, bone by bone.

She had never seen Li Changjing like this before. Being looked at by him like that, her lower abdomen felt hot, and her scalp felt like it was slowly exploding with numbness. Her eyes were filled with tears as she wanted to refuse him.

Li Changjing raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly above her, a smile both gentle and cruel.

He's a strange person; he's quiet in everyday life, but when it comes to things like this, he's exceptionally expressive.

His voice was clear yet husky, carrying a gentle, coaxing laugh. He lightly kissed her ear, saying, "Ningning is amazing."

"Relax and don't be so tense."

"Sweetie, just this once, okay?"

Li Changjing's domineering attitude in this matter terrified her, revealing his bloodthirsty nature. She had always felt that Li Changjing was different from the lustful men she had heard of and knew, men whose minds were only filled with those kinds of things.

He was aloof, refined, and indifferent. He always treated her with respect, never going too far. Even when kissing her, he would make sure she didn't feel his presence. Only now did she realize how terribly wrong she had been.

Wen Yining felt as soft as water, as if her bones were melting into his gentleness and strength.

Finally, it was over. Li Changjing, who is a germaphobe, called someone in to change the sheets. He carried her to wash up and even had the leisure to wash her slightly sweaty hair.

Wen Yining was so tired that she couldn't even lift her fingers, and she couldn't even muster the senses to feel shy. She could only let him do whatever he wanted in a semi-conscious state.

After washing up in a daze, she felt herself being lifted into the air and put down. Wen Yining subconsciously opened her eyes halfway and saw the darkness outside reflected in the transparent glass.

She barely opened her eyes and found that Li Changjing had carried her to the wool blanket in front of the French windows. She leaned against him, and he awkwardly lifted a strand of her hair to blow-dry it. His fingers touched her scalp, making it feel slightly itchy.

Young Master Li was clearly doing this for the first time, but he was a quick learner and soon figured out how to blow-dry long hair.

Wen Yining wasn't very sleepy, just very tired, so she lazily leaned against him and let him blow-dry her hair.

The scent of the same shower gel wafted from their bodies, and the whirring of a hairdryer filled the air. Wen Yining half-opened her eyes and turned to look outside. Through the transparent glass window, the night sky revealed the soft, red earth of Beicheng, with its dazzling neon lights and the silent, pure white snow falling.
