Chapter 48

Li Changjing did not struggle at all. Warm blood with a metallic smell slowly flowed from his body and down her lips.

Wen Yining looked up and quickly released Li Changjing's wrist, forcefully pushing him away. She raised her hand to wipe her mouth, then looked down at her hand. Bright red blood was smeared on the back of her hand. Suddenly, a tear fell onto the blood, turning into bloody water that slid down onto the carpet.

Li Changjing took a step back following her force, his eyes calmly fixed on her face.

She lowered her hand, and Li Changjing walked to her side again, silently wiping away her tears with his other hand.

She silently kept crying, and he silently kept wiping away her tears.

Like competing with each other.

Wen Yining was the first to lose her temper. She swallowed hard, turned her face away from his hand, but her gaze suddenly fell on his drooping hand.

The blue and white striped shirt concealed the wound, but because of his posture, bright red blood flowed like water from inside the shirt down Li Changjing's porcelain-white wrist. Several streaks of blood meandered across his palm, and drops of blood gathered at his fingertips, slowly dripping down.

Although the wound was not visible, one could sense how serious the injury was to his hand.

She bit with hatred, so she held nothing back and subconsciously used all her strength without thinking too much.

It was her fault; she used to be most afraid of him getting hurt in the slightest.

Wen Yining's breath hitched, the metallic taste of blood instantly bringing her back to her senses, and she suddenly realized that she was acting like a madwoman.

Following her gaze, Li Changjing looked down at his wrist. He then turned his gaze back to her face, raising his hand, which was covered in bloody marks, and using his other hand to unbutton his wrist and slowly roll up his shirt to reveal the wound.

Wen Yining glanced at the wound, her heart clenched, and she quickly looked away, her face pale.

Li Changjing didn't look at his own hands; he rolled up his sleeves and stared intently at her, not missing a single fleeting emotion on her face.

Because of his posture, the blood began to flow down his arm in a different direction. His face was expressionless as he looked at Wen Yining's face and felt the blood sliding down his arm. He felt a strange sense of pleasure.

One of them had blood all over his hands, and the other had blood all over his mouth.

The taste of blood in her mouth was unpleasant, making Wen Yining feel like a non-human being.

Suddenly, her face, which she had turned away from, was forcefully turned back. Her chin was both painful and sticky. She was shocked and frightened. She turned around and saw Li Changjing pinching her cheek with his bloody hand, lifting her face into a position to meet his. He pressed her against the wall with one hand, forcing her to open her mouth. He then lowered his head and kissed her.

His lips and tongue entered without any resistance, gently brushing against her teeth and hooking her tongue. On the spot on her face where his bloodied hand had pressed, there was a cold, sticky sensation, and a strong smell of blood rushed into her nostrils.

His movements aggravated the wound, causing blood to flow again. She felt warm liquid rolling down her neck as it slid from his wrist across hers.

Wen Yining was stunned for a moment, clearly feeling the taste of blood in her mouth as her lips and tongue intertwined, spreading in the mouths of both of them. Li Changjing gently sucked on the tip of her tongue, and she lowered her eyes with rapid breathing, seeing his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed so close to her.

She, too, had to keep swallowing due to inertia, his blood sliding down their throats and into their stomachs.

Crazy! Pervert!

Wen Yining was terrified; the hairs on her body stood on end. She struggled frantically to push him away, but Li Changjing was determined to kiss her, and she couldn't push him off at all.

*

Wen Yining's usually calm and elegant face was now clouded with gloom. She sat in the back row, her face and hands covered in water stains.

Li Changjing was driving in the front seat, his wrists were also dripping wet. Whether it was intentional or not, he didn't treat the wounds, not even bandaging them. He just rolled up his sleeves, revealing the hideous teeth marks, with blood still faintly seeping out.

She had a gloomy face, and Li Changjing wisely didn't speak to her, but simply turned the car's interior temperature to the highest setting.

They remained silent the entire way; no one spoke.

Li Changjing had booked the best hotel in the area. As the car drove from the bustling area where the hotel was located towards Wen Yining's home, the colorful neon lights became dimmer and dimmer, and there were fewer and fewer pedestrians on the road.

Wen Yining looked up and saw the old gate of the residential area outside the window. From a distance, she spoke in a deep voice, "Stop the car."

He can't possibly be planning to drive all the way downstairs, can he?

Li Changjing looked up through the endoscope at the back row, finally trying to catch her eyes, but it was too dark to see her face clearly.

She had only called out casually, not expecting him to stop. She knew him; having worked in the system for so long, Li Changjing was always meticulous and thorough in his work. Now it was dark, cold, and covered in snow; he wouldn't leave her at the door and make her walk that far.

But she didn't want his attentiveness; she preferred to stay where she was.

Unexpectedly, the car began to slow down, then turned slightly and stopped on a relatively dry road surface without snow.

Wen Yining was surprised for a moment, but ignored him and reached for the car door. She tried to open it several times, but the door wouldn't budge. Then she realized what was happening and looked up at Li Changjing in the front seat. In the dim light, he was quietly watching her movements.

A soft, warm light shone down, and Li Changjing withdrew his hand. The orange light made his otherwise cool features appear gentle and tender.

He looked at her and quietly instructed, "Your school starts on the 17th. I'll have someone pick you up. Save Yue Feng's phone number again. He'll be waiting for you outside the station, just like before."

Wen Yining's voice was deep, "Who asked you to make the arrangements? I haven't agreed yet."

Li Changjing was a smart man who knew how to control the pace and not to push her too hard, so of course he would not provoke her with words on something that was bound to happen.

He didn't refute her statement, just hummed in agreement and said, "I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow night at 9 pm."

After he finished speaking, the sound of the car door unlocking rang out. Wen Yining didn't even have the mood to refute him or say anything sarcastic. She opened the door, got out of the car, closed the door, and left, her face full of gloom.

Li Changjing rolled down the car window. The streetlights near their door were far away and dim, making the light very dim. He watched Wen Yining, wearing slippers and a thin nightgown, trudging through the half-melted snow. He didn't start the car until her figure had long since disappeared from sight.

Wen Yining walked up the stairs through the snow until she reached her doorstep. Her slippers were soaked through, and her feet were almost numb from the biting dampness. Standing at the door, she suddenly remembered that she didn't have her keys.

She cleared her throat, composed herself, and then knocked on the door. Her father quickly came to open it and was surprised to see Wen Yining return from outside.

She lowered her head while changing her shoes, trying to make up a reason to get away with it as naturally as possible. As she guiltily put her hand into her pocket, her fingers suddenly touched a thin, hard thing in her pocket, and Wen Yining was startled.

She was certain that she only had her phone in her pocket when she left, so when did this thing appear?

Wen Qinghua's voice came from the kitchen, "I'm boiling water. I'll make you a packet of cold medicine later. Drink one as a precaution, and drink plenty of water too."

"Okay, I understand. I can do it myself, Dad. You go inside now."

Her heart began to race. In front of her father, she didn't dare to take it out to look at it. She gently rubbed it with her fingers and felt that the edges were somewhat sharp and the area was not small, like some kind of sharp plastic.

She went to the kitchen, where her father was standing in front of the kettle, wearing a coat, boiling water for her. The cup contained brown granules.

Both her parents were honest people who were not good with words and shy about expressing their love, but their love was shown through their actions. Wen Yining's eyes welled up with tears, and she looked away, not wanting her father to notice.

After taking the medicine, she carried a large glass of water into the house. She put down the glass, immediately turned around and locked the door. Leaning against the door, her heart pounding, she took out that thing.

Seeing what she was holding, Wen Yining frowned in surprise.

It's a very new color photograph. There are four or five people in it, all dressed quite formally. The first thing you notice is a middle-aged man with a strange, smiling face next to a middle-aged woman. They seem to be a couple.

It looked like a family photo, and everyone in the picture was unfamiliar until her gaze fell on the young man standing in the back row. Although the photo was a bit distorted, she recognized him at a glance as Zhang Zhiyang.

This is a family photo of Zhang Zhiyang!

It looks like it was filmed a couple of years ago, because Zhang Zhiyang's appearance has changed somewhat.

Wen Yining gasped, her hair standing on end.

She wouldn't have this; Li Changjing had slipped it into her pocket at some point.

He remained completely expressionless throughout the entire process!

Wen Yining gripped the photo tightly, then suddenly realized something was wrong. She quickly flipped the photo over and saw an X drawn on the back of Zhang Zhiyang's figure.

That madman!

She felt a chill run through her body and her face changed drastically. She put down the photo, hurriedly took out her phone, opened WeChat, and found Zhang Zhiyang. She didn't even have time to read the messages he sent her. He persisted and sent her two more messages an hour earlier, probably when she had just come downstairs.

She sent him a message, held her phone and waited for a minute but he didn't reply. Various bad premonitions swirled in her mind, so she hurriedly pressed the voice call button.

Halfway through the call, it was finally answered, and Zhang Zhiyang's surprised voice came through the receiver, "Ningning? Why did you suddenly decide to call me at this time?"

"I don't believe you. You just want to call me, don't you?" Zhang Zhiyang's voice was soft, revealing the emotions of a young man.

Wen Yining might not have noticed before, but after dating for two years, she immediately sensed that the topic was off and that her late-night phone call was too ambiguous.

She glanced instinctively at the photo on the table.

She had no interest in him to begin with, and with Li Changjing's threat, she dared not develop a relationship with Zhang Zhiyang in that direction.

Who knows what Li Changjing might do! He's not just someone who only knows how to threaten!

After hanging up the phone in a few words, Wen Yining hid the photo in a book and lay on the bed, almost exhausted.

The night grew deeper, but my mind was in turmoil and I couldn't fall asleep.

I couldn't help but think about the time they were together, then the day they broke up, and then last night.

She knew she would definitely agree. She was terrified of seeing the disappointment in her parents' eyes, terrified of becoming the subject of gossip, and even more terrified of her honest and upright parents being talked about behind their backs.

She dared not gamble, because she knew he was capable of it.

Li Changjing was truly pushing her relentlessly, even though she hated him.

He was not a good person to begin with, as he was adept at navigating the system.

Wen Yining lay in bed, looking at the dim light on the ceiling in the dead of night, tears streaming down her face. She picked up her phone and typed through gritted teeth, her fingers slamming so hard they almost hit the screen. She texted him, "I agree."

After sending the message, she closed her eyes and pulled the blanket over her head to cover her face.

Nothing happened the next day. Li Changjing didn't reply or make a phone call. There was no sound at all, as calm as a dream.

The silence was broken by his phone call that evening: "I'm at the location I dropped you off at yesterday. Come over."

Wen Yining coldly held up her phone. "Didn't I already agree? What more do you want?"

After a few seconds of silence on the phone, Li Changjing's deep voice came through, "I'm leaving soon, I want to see you."

"But I don't want to see you."

"Ningning." He wasn't angry; his voice was still gentle. "Get down."

Wen Yining's heart skipped a beat. She didn't dare to resist, hung up the phone, changed her shoes, and went downstairs. When she reached the entrance of the residential area, she saw his car parked under a street lamp not far away, with two other cars behind it with their red taillights on. It seemed that they were planning to see her and then head straight back to Beijing.

She said that he didn't bring any bodyguards with him this time, because they didn't show up.

She didn't go over; instead, she stood at the door watching the cars and took out her phone to call him. Li Changjing answered almost immediately.

One of the cars turned on its hazard lights, and the rear window rolled down, revealing Li Changjing's face, which was not very clear.

His voice came through the phone, "Ningning, come here."

Wen Yining paused for a few seconds, then said, "I want to stand here."

There was a moment of silence on the phone. She thought Li Changjing would force her to go over, but he didn't say anything. He just rolled down the car window, held up his phone, and looked at her from afar for a long time.

Wen Yining watched him silently from afar. She didn't mention Zhang Zhiyang, and neither did he.

After a moment of silence, Li Changjing slowly spoke and instructed her, "I've sent you the number. Just like before, Yue Feng will pick you up."

Is there anything else?

Upon hearing the first three words, Wen Yining hung up the phone and turned to leave.

As she walked, she inexplicably turned her head. Under the dim streetlights, the cold wind blew, the shadows of the trees swayed, and piles of dirty snow were piled up by the roadside. Cars were parked in the parking spaces in front of the gate, looking messy and crowded.

He was still lowering the window, watching her back as she walked away.

Wen Yining's eyes welled up with tears, and she gritted her teeth and turned to leave.

Wen Yining, don't be fooled by his disguise.
