Chapter 52 Help me with something
Chapter 52
Wen Yining turned to look at Fang Qi.
Fang Qi was also looking at her. The wind gently ruffled his hair, and his expression was one of composure and coldness that had never appeared on his face before.
Are all these third-generation Hongs twisted and two-faced?
Wen Yining turned around, her face expressionless. "You were sent here by him to test me, weren't you?"
Fang Qi didn't laugh. "I was worried about whether I could trust you, but after hearing this, I believe you won't tell him."
Wen Yining suddenly realized that what he had just said was a test to see if she would be willing to be Li Changjing's secret lover.
She looked at Fang Qi with disbelief, her brows furrowed, as if she were seeing him for the first time. His demeanor was so different from all those years before, as if he had ripped off his disguise.
"I don't understand, aren't you good friends? Why would you hurt him?"
Fang Qi suddenly paused, turned his face and smiled, changing to a more relaxed tone, "I've hated you for so long, it's become an obsession. You should believe me, right?"
Looking at Fang Qi's face, Wen Yining believed that he truly hated him.
What did you mean by "helping" just now?
Wen Yining looked away, finding the sound a bit grating. She hated him, but that didn't mean she wanted to badmouth him behind his back like this. She changed the subject, "He threatened me by telling the whole world about us. Actually, what I'm most afraid of is that he'll threaten me with the people I care about next. So, in this situation, what can you do to help me?"
A hint of surprise flashed quickly in Fang Qi's eyes. Li Changjing's methods this time were surprisingly gentle. It seemed that he cared about her more than he had imagined.
A cold smile flashed across Fang Qi's eyes.
He looked at Wen Yining, his gaze as if he were seeing her for the first time. "As expected of the top student in the city and a top student from S University, you are not pretentious at all. I am increasingly feeling that in some ways, you are actually very similar to Li Changjing."
Wen Yining didn't speak. She felt that she didn't have Fang Qi's mental fortitude. Although this was a corner where people could be seen at a glance and she wasn't worried about being eavesdropped on, Li Changjing was in the private room and could come over at any time. Under these circumstances, he still had the mood to talk about unimportant things here.
“If you do me a favor, I will help you withstand his threats and give you your freedom. After this is done, he will definitely hate you and never want to see you again. No matter how he retaliates, I will take the blame for you. You will be fine.”
Wen Yining stared at the wall in silence for a long time without expression. The window was open, and the wind was whistling in her ears.
After a long pause, she asked softly, "Will he die?"
Fang Qi laughed, "Do you think I have that ability?"
"Will he go to jail? Will his future be ruined?"
Fang Qi was surprised to find that these were the questions she kept asking. He looked Wen Yining up and down, trying to guess her meaning. Even after all this, she wouldn't still be soft-hearted, would she?
He shook his head. "He's a member of the Li family. Do you know what that means? He's one of the people who survived crossing the snow-capped mountains and grasslands back then. Three generations of them, their family has far more power than the public sees. His family will definitely protect him. His maternal grandfather retired, but he still supports Sbing. Countless people want to climb up the social ladder not just for the momentary glory of being in power. The law is just a set of rules that constrain the masses. When you stand high enough, you become the one who sets the rules, and you are outside the rules."
Wen Yining understood, but she was even more confused. "If that's the case, then what's the point of all this?"
Fang Qi smiled and said in a low voice, "The bigger the tree, the more the wind will blow against it. They're not the only ones in Beicheng. Countless eyes are watching them. And with the tense situation at home and abroad, he won't be in any major trouble, but he will have some minor problems."
Most importantly, this is the beginning of his declaration of war against Li Changjing. He won't be in any major trouble, but he will definitely feel pain, and that's enough.
He certainly wouldn't say these things to Wen Yining.
Wen Yining took a breath and continued, "Then he hated me so much that he never wanted to see me again and got rid of me as soon as possible."
"So? Do you agree?" Fang Qi smiled.
"Stop talking..."
Wen Yining's face was deathly pale, her voice trembling. She knew that everything Fang Qi said was true, without any exaggeration. She leaned against the wall, her eyes reddening, "Don't say anymore..."
Fang Qi didn't continue speaking. His face showed no smugness as if he wanted to stir up trouble. He just looked at Wen Yining quietly, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
I don't know why, even though I hate Li Changjing so much and I desperately want to escape from him, hearing these words made my heart feel like it was cracking open. Sure enough, it wasn't just her; everyone in the world who knew him subconsciously believed that he would marry someone of equal social standing, and they hadn't even considered any other option.
Fang Qi was still looking at her, waiting for her answer.
This is the 32nd floor. The cold wind continues to blow in from outside the window. Wen Yining turns her head to look. The night is dark and deep, like an abyss.

They were chatting in the private room. Li Changjing looked at the empty seat that had been empty for so long, and absentmindedly replied with a few words. He raised his hand to look at his watch, picked up the half glass of wine in front of him, drank it all in one gulp, and stood up.
The bodyguard, standing in the corridor, saw Li Changjing coming out from afar and quickly walked up to him.
Li Changjing's gaze swept across the empty corridor behind him, his eyes darkening slightly. "Where is he?"
"Young Master Fang came over suddenly just now, and Miss Wen is chatting with him at the end of the corridor."
Li Changjing glanced at the end of the corridor and strode over there.
Suddenly, a girl emerged from the front van. She had smooth, shoulder-length short hair, delicate features, and a refined, light makeup. She exuded an artistic and sweet charm, dressed in a low-key yet gentle manner, but one could still sense the considerable price tag.
"Li Changjing?"
Li Changjing stopped in his tracks.
Xu Lingxue's expression was initially one of surprise and delight, but then her eyes dimmed as if she had thought of something. She tilted her head, crossed her arms, and gave him a soft hum, her tone carrying a barely perceptible hint of a girl's coquettishness. She deliberately asked him, "If failing a blind date means we're enemies, then wouldn't we be considered to have met on a narrow road?"
Li Changjing gave her a polite nod, seemingly oblivious to her feelings, and didn't respond to her words. "Miss Xu, I have some things to attend to, please excuse me."
After saying that, he walked past her and continued forward.
Xu Lingxue watched his retreating figure, her eyes dimming. She wasn't someone who didn't know her place, so she didn't step forward to stop him. She just watched his back with a somber expression, but he didn't enter any private rooms. Instead, he walked to the end of the corridor, then turned to the side and disappeared.
That corridor had windows and two walls at both ends; what was he going there for?
Is he deliberately avoiding her?
Xu Lingxue stood at the door without moving, wanting to see how long he could hide from her.

Fang Qi didn't speak, just quietly looked at Wen Yining.
Wen Yining stared out the window in silence for a long time, until the wind chilled her to the bone. Then, she spoke with difficulty, her voice hoarse, "I need to think about it."
Fang Qi nodded, at least he didn't refuse. Even if he did refuse, it wouldn't matter. According to this, she would agree sooner or later, because everything he said was true.
I'll contact you in a few days, but don't contact me.
Wen Yining turned to look at Fang Qi, as if she were seeing him for the first time.
The carefree, irreverent yet endearing playboy she had imagined was all an illusion; perhaps this was the real him.
The ambiguous affection and friendliness towards him were gone from her eyes.
Fang Qi was smiling, but when he met Wen Yining's gaze, he suddenly stopped smiling, pursed his lips, and his expression changed.
A noise came from the quiet corridor, and the two of them immediately composed themselves.
Wen Yining turned to look out the window, and soon Li Changjing's voice came through, "How come I didn't know you two had so many things to talk about?"
Fang Qi raised an eyebrow nonchalantly, "We've known each other for years, so it's normal for us to have things to talk about, isn't it?"
Listening to Fang Qi's voice, Wen Yining still felt a strong sense of disconnect and disbelief. Afraid that Li Changjing would discover something was amiss, she looked out the window, trying her best not to look at Fang Qi.
Li Changjing's gaze swept between the two, and when he saw Wen Yining's calm profile, his tense expression relaxed.
He reached out his hand to Wen Yining, "Come here."
Wen Yining turned her head, paused, and surprisingly walked over obediently. She lowered her head and placed her hand in his. Li Changjing's deep gaze slowly swept across her face. He then took her cold hand in his own and half-embraced her, leading her away from the window towards the private room.
Fang Qi lit a cigarette, watched their backs as they slowly followed.
Away from the window that was letting in cold air, the warmth of Li Changjing's palms and body, along with a faint, cool fragrance, wafted through her thin clothing, and Wen Yining's trembling gradually stopped.
As they walked, Li Changjing suddenly paused noticeably. Wen Yining subconsciously looked up and saw a girl who looked about the same age as Li Changjing staring at them with wide eyes, her expression a mixture of shock, confusion, and sadness.
As a fellow girl, Wen Yining could tell at a glance that she liked Li Changjing.
My heart skipped a beat for no reason.
Wen Yining lowered her eyes and stopped looking.
Li Changjing paused only briefly, subconsciously glancing at Wen Yining's reaction. Seeing that she had her head down and wasn't looking at him at all, he continued to carry Wen Yining forward. Xu Lingxue stood stiffly in place, watching Li Changjing affectionately hug a girl who looked very young but was very pretty and clean.
So this is why he was "busy" and didn't even bother to exchange a few pleasantries with her. So this is why Li Changjing is so aloof and cold, making even a touch feel like an offense, and making him frown. Yet he can also hug someone so tightly.
Xu Lingxue sized up the girl. She was very pretty and quiet, and seemed to have a scholarly air about her. Her face was unfamiliar, and she was definitely not someone she knew from her circle.
When Li Changjing passed by Xu Lingxue, he merely nodded to her indifferently and politely before carrying Wen Yining past her and entering the private room.
Xu Lingxue's eyes instantly welled up with tears at his distant and polite attitude. Fang Qi, who was following behind, caught a glimpse of Xu Lingxue's expression, understood everything, and raised an eyebrow, eager to watch the drama unfold.
Xu Lingxue is just a nobody. At most, she'll be upset, but she can't do anything significant, and she's not enough to cause trouble for Li Changjing.
Fang Qi nodded to her and followed her.
