Chapter 57 I'll Take You to My Wedding Ceremony
Chapter 57
The car turned so sharply, almost 180 degrees, that the rear of the car scraped against the wall with a screeching sound. The speed was too high for Li Changjing to brake. The modified bulletproof car had a heavier chassis and all safety features in place, so this was nothing. He gripped the steering wheel and let the front of the car slam into the wall.
A loud bang!
All the bodyguards in the yard ran towards Li Changjing's car.
Without waiting for the car to come to a complete stop, Li Changjing opened the car door and got out, not even closing it. With a cold expression, he strode into his house, the corner of his coat fluttering in the wind, revealing a full suit underneath. The car door was wide open, and the engine was humming.
Then came the sound of a car screeching to a halt. Not far away, an identical black sedan made a sharp drift turn and came to a stop. Several people ran out of the car, and Li Changjing's bodyguards, who had been following him closely, caught up at that moment.
The eaves blocked out everything outside. Wen Yining stood by the window, which was bathed in the midday sun, and saw the commotion outside. The next moment, Li Changjing strode into the courtyard, a rare hint of urgency in his expression.
Liu Lixiu walked over from the window and said, "Young Master is upstairs."
Anger flashed in Zhou Yu's eyes, and he sneered, "I'd like to see if Li Zeqing has come back in such a hurry to confront me and demand an explanation."
As he spoke, heavy footsteps sounded from the stairwell behind him; Li Changjing had come up.
Wen Yining lowered her gaze, her fingers unconsciously clenching in her sleeve.
The hurried footsteps grew closer.
Li Changjing quickly glanced at the positions of the group. Zhou Yu was sitting, his face full of anger and his aura cold, while Wen Yining was wearing a loose sweater, standing with her back to him and her head down, making her appear even thinner and more slender.
Li Changjing strode over, grasped Wen Yining's arm, and turned her towards him.
Suddenly, her arm was grabbed forcefully, the strong force forcing Wen Yining to look up and turn around. Li Changjing's expression was cold. He looked down and quickly scanned her face, body, and hands. Perhaps because he had walked so fast, his breathing was slightly unsteady. After looking at everything, he glanced at Wen Yining's face again. Her face only showed indifference and bewilderment towards him. Li Changjing's tense expression relaxed a little.
Zhou Yu couldn't contain his anger any longer. He slammed his hand on the table and stood up abruptly. "Li Zeqing! Look at yourself! Do you even respect me as your mother anymore?!"
From the moment he came in, he didn't greet her or even glance at her, his mother. He looked her up and down as if she had somehow bullied his little lover!
Despite Wen Yining's struggles, Li Changjing remained calm and bowed slightly, ignoring Zhou Yu's anger, and held her arm, saying, "Mom."
He turned to look at Wen Yining and whispered to her, "Go back to your room and wait for me."
Zhou Yu: "She's not allowed to go anywhere today!"
Li Changjing looked downstairs, "Chen Wenchao!"
The captain who had been watching over Wen Yining hurried upstairs.
Li Changjing glanced at him without showing any emotion, and the man named Chen Wenchao nodded slightly before stepping forward to take Wen Yining away.
Wen Yining panicked a little and hurriedly looked past Li Changjing to see his mother. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her arm. Li Changjing pulled her close to him, his eyes dark and menacing as he gritted his teeth and growled, "What are you looking at her for! Go back to your room and wait for me!"
As Wen Yining tried to struggle, Li Changjing's sharp gaze made her heart clench. Her subconscious alarm bells went off, and her sixth sense was frantically warning her that Li Changjing was serious now and that this time he was definitely not just trying to scare her like before.
Li Changjing was right before. Although she is now going all out and daring to talk back to him, it's actually because she vaguely knows that he is on the verge of being under her control and won't really do anything to her.
Although Li Changjing appears gentle and calm on the surface, he secretly goes crazy for her with a tender and gentle heart.
But in reality, his seemingly crazy behavior wasn't genuine; it was just a facade to suppress her emotions, a means to achieve his goals. Deep down, he was calmer than anyone else.
But her subconscious told her that Li Changjing was serious now, and Wen Yining's breathing tightened, and fear rose uncontrollably in her heart.
Chen Wenchao came over and gestured for her to come in. Li Changjing let go of her hand, and Wen Yining lowered her eyes, frowned, and turned to walk into the room.
Zhou Yu said firmly, "She's not allowed to leave. She has to leave with me today!"
Wen Yining paused, then was pushed by Chen Wenchao, forcing her to continue walking.
A furious voice came from behind, "Li Zeqing! You don't even respect me anymore, do you?!"
Then came Li Changjing's calm tone, completely ignoring her anger, "Let's go into the study and talk."
Wen Yining was pushed into the bedroom and the door was closed.
Li Changjing gestured for him to enter, but Zhou Yu glared at him and strode into the study.
At this moment, Yue Feng came downstairs carrying two cups of water. Li Changjing glanced at him and slightly raised his chin. Yue Feng was startled, lowered his head, and pretended that nothing had happened as he carried the tray and water downstairs again.
The study door closed, and everyone went downstairs. Zhou Yu sat on the main sofa and said, "Li Zeqing, do you know what you're doing right now?"
Li Changjing stood in front of her. "I know."
Zhou Yu was furious at his face and calm demeanor. "Do you really know? I think you've even forgotten your own surname!"
"Then tell me, why didn't you go to see that girl from the Peng family when your grandfather asked you to? She only has a few days to visit her family in Beijing, and she had to ask you out several times!"
"You may go back."
"Li Zeqing!"
Zhou Yu was furious. He stood up and raised his hand, making a sharp "smack!" sound.
Li Changjing turned his head slightly, revealing a shocking handprint on his fair face.
He calmly turned his head and said, "You should go back."
Zhou Yu's hands trembled with anger. He had grown up, step by step, becoming a high-ranking, powerful, and shrewd young man as she had hoped, but at the same time, she was completely helpless against him.
"She has to come with me today."
Li Changjing looked up. "She won't go with you."
"Is it that she can't do it, or that you won't let her! Look at the mess of people in your yard, look at what you're doing! You're just like your father, I think you're even worse than him!"
Li Changjing remained calm, showing no reaction to the condescending and insulting words from his mother. He turned to the side and said, "You should go back."
Seeing his unrepentant attitude, Zhou Yu sneered repeatedly, then angrily strode out, saying, "You know your family rules. Don't wait for your grandfather to personally intervene, or you'll bear the consequences!"
"Why don't we just kill her?"
Zhou Yu stopped and turned his head.
Li Changjing's expression was calm, and he seemed to be serious as he offered her advice, "Killing her is fine, then killing me too, then I can let go."
Zhou Yu strode back, raised his hand sharply, but then lowered it halfway through.
She couldn't say anything and turned to leave.
The Li family had strict discipline. As usual, Li Changjing quietly went downstairs to deliver the slap, despite the handprint on his face.
Zhou Yu walked into the yard in her high heels, too angry to even curse him. She opened the car door herself, got in, and slammed the door shut.
Li Changjing stood by the car, bowing slightly to Zhou Yu without changing his expression, his manners impeccable.
The two cars drove away one after the other.
Yue Feng breathed a sigh of relief, but then noticed the handprint on Li Changjing's face. The next moment, Li Changjing accurately sensed his gaze and turned to look at him.
Yue Feng immediately lowered his head.
Li Changjing casually touched his face, watching the departing car, and muttered, "Ice."
Wen Yining stood by the bedroom window, watching Li Changjing and a bunch of people make a big fuss to send his mother off, and let out a disappointed sigh.
Li Changjing walked in from outside. Somehow he knew she was by the window. He stood in the courtyard and looked up at her. Wen Yining immediately looked away and turned to leave.
She thought he would come up to her and cause trouble, but he didn't appear for a long time.
With her mind in such a mess, she couldn't get back into the flow. Wen Yining forced herself to focus on the lines of text in front of her.
Suddenly, there was a sound at the door. Wen Yining turned her head and saw that the door had opened and Li Changjing had pushed it open from the outside.
Chen Wenchao, the bodyguard who was keeping a close eye on her inside the room, nodded slightly to Li Changjing and immediately went out.
Li Changjing walked to the table, picked up a cup, and turned his back to her to get water.
"Miss Wen must be very disappointed, right?"
Wen Yining answered decisively, "Yes."
The water in the glass rippled slightly. Li Changjing let go of her hand, not coming towards her, but instead leaning casually against the table, picking up the glass. "What did she say to you?"
"It's nothing," Wen Yining said casually, looking at the computer. "I just told you you're getting married at the end of the year."
Suddenly there was silence. Wen Yining looked up and saw Li Changjing placing his cup on the table, staring at her expressionlessly. "So?"
What, so?
Wen Yining smiled at him, "So I wish you a long and happy marriage and many children." She even raised her hands and clasped them together in a gesture of congratulations.
Li Changjing gripped his cup tightly, staring at her expressionlessly. Wen Yining's smile faded, and she felt a chill run down her spine from his gaze. She looked at him warily, wanting to say a few more words but not daring to speak.
He suddenly looked away, picked up his cup and took a sip of water. "Don't worry, I'll take you to the ceremony."
Wen Yining was quite angry, suppressing her rage, "Fine, then shouldn't you have told your father-in-law, mother-in-law, parents, and wife beforehand?"
"good."
Wen Yining continued to smile, appearing gentle and obedient, "May I sit at the head table?"
Li Changjing looked at her and nodded, "Okay."
"..." Wen Yining's chest heaved, too angry to speak.
"Then I'll definitely let you sit at the head table when I get married."
Li Changjing's face instantly turned cold. "Don't even think about it."
Wen Yining glared at him, her eyes slightly reddening unnoticed by anyone. "Why can you get married but I can't!"
Li Changjing ignored her words, raised his hand to look at his watch, and said, "I have already arranged for someone to go back to your home. They should be moving into the apartment below your parents-in-law soon. I live far away, and if anything happens to the two elders, of course I will arrange for someone to stay by their side and take care of them for me."
“Li Changjing!” Wen Yining stood up abruptly.
“Be good, you’re just a neighbor.” Li Changjing put down his cup. “Your injury is healed, so get ready. You can go back to school tomorrow.”
Wen Yining was still glaring at him.
Li Changjing turned and left, saying, "Don't even think about leaving. I won't let you go, and no one can stop me."
Wen Yining threw a book at his departing back, which hit the floor with a thud.
Li Changjing did not return that night.
Lying in bed, Wen Yining finally realized the logic behind Li Changjing's behavior.
His family came twice that morning, and his mother came to announce his marriage. She still couldn't leave. He felt she had reached her breaking point, so he stopped pressuring her so much and let her go to school. But then he was afraid she would run away, so he dragged his parents over to threaten her.
Wen Yining threw his old pillow under the bed. Li Changjing used the tactic of giving her a slap and then a treat, focusing on the big picture and letting go of the small details, with perfect balance. He was very skilled at using this on her.
