The female soul guide nodded in agreement, and the male soul guide raised the lantern in his hand, and the green light suddenly became brighter.
"Wake up, innocent man." He called softly.
Not long after, the old man's soul emerged from the corpse and floated in the same place with a dazed look on his face.
"What's wrong with me?" he murmured.
"You are already dead." The male soul guide said, "We are the messengers of the underworld, here to guide you to the underworld to start a new life, but before that, you need to tell us the cause of your death."
"My cause of death..."
"Yes, don't worry, you can think about it slowly." The female soul guide said very considerately, "We have plenty of time."
The old man frowned as he thought, and then slowly recalled something, and his originally confused eyes gradually became clear.
"Aina! My granddaughter!"
It was similar to what Bai Wei had inferred. The old man did die in a home robbery. The only difference was that the child who ran away was his granddaughter instead of his grandson.
"It's him for sure." The male soul guide nodded slightly, "We are in the right place, so... who is this person?"
The two soul guides turned their attention to Bai Wei again, and the female soul guide asked, "Is it that thug?"
"Probably not." The male soul guide raised the lantern again, "Just ask directly."
Under the green light, Bai Wei opened his eyes at the right time.
"Who are you?" the male soul guide asked directly, "Why did you die here?"
Bai Wei had already thought of an answer: "I was a traveler passing by here. I saw the atrocities here and tried to stop them, but I was killed along with them."
"A traveler passing by?"
"Stop it?"
The two soul guides looked at each other. It was obvious that they had not received such a revelation, but it was impossible for a spirit in this state to lie.
So what's going on?
The two soul guides had no choice but to ask the old man: "Is that so?"
The old man was still not fully conscious, and he kept mumbling, "Aina...my granddaughter...she is still so young...what should I do..."
It was not until the soul guide asked repeatedly that the old man raised his head in confusion and looked at Bai Wei.
"This gentleman...helped me?"
"We are the ones asking if he helped you."
The old man and Bai Wei looked at each other, and his confused eyes became clear again.
"Ah, yes... he helped me." The old man whispered, "Without him, my Aina would not have been able to leave... Thank you, sir."
The old man bowed deeply to Bai Wei.
Now the two soul guides were even more confused.
"Is it really like this?" The male soul guide asked in confusion, "Could it be that something went wrong with the revelation?"
"The revelation cannot be wrong... at least it has never been wrong in thousands of years." The female soul guide replied.
"But the facts are here. What should we do now?" said the male soul guide.
"Judging from the cause of death, this person is more suitable to be a person in the underworld than him."
