Chapter 367: Entrance to the Abyss Prison

Helvinia followed, and then saw some strange stone statues embedded in the wall.

These stone statues looked like mutated humans, with extremely thin bodies and narrow bone wings on their backs.

"What is this?" Helvinia asked.

"The Magic-Sealing Gargoyle," said Edwin, "is a very ancient creature that feeds on magic. It can no longer be seen in the outside world."

"Is this thing still alive?"

"Yes, as long as there is no magical power, it can remain in this stone statue posture for a long time." Edwin said, "It will only wake up when it senses magical power."

"What happens after you wake up?"

"Devouring the source of magic power." Edwin looked at Hevinia, "Yes, it is just as you think. As long as you use magic power, they will instantly wake up from their long sleep and attack you."

“Are they difficult?”

"Magic won't work on them, don't you?"

Hevinia frowned slightly.

Magic power is ineffective? Doesn't that mean all her music spells are useless?

"It's the direct attack of magic that is ineffective." Edwin guessed what Hevinia was thinking and explained, "For example, the fire converted from magic is ineffective against them. But if you use magic to strengthen your body and then use a fist to break them apart, such an attack will be effective."

"I see." Hevinia nodded slightly. "They are indeed very strange creatures. The Land of Contract placed them here to deal with invaders like you and me?"

"What else could it be?" Edwin shrugged. "For those who don't know of their existence, no matter how powerful they are, this is an unavoidable trap. For example, if you had used magic to illuminate them just now, all these guys would have woken up."

As Edwin spoke, he stepped back to allow the fire to reach further.

Then Hevinia saw that there were thousands of such gargoyles on the wall in front of them, densely packed like bees in a hive, making people feel claustrophobic.

Once all these magic-immune creatures wake up, Hevinia gets a headache just thinking about it.

"This is a warning," Edwin said. "With the level of the Demon-Sealing Gargoyle, it can only guard places like this. The further down we go, the more trouble we will encounter. There may even be..."

Helvinia glanced at Edwin. "Don't keep me in suspense."

"Hehe, do you know the Devourer of Rhine?"

"What is that?"

"A kind of thing specially used to deal with corpse holders. They are very sensitive to Visas' power." Edwin said, "And those things are made of dead gods."

Helvinia's eyelids twitched.

Dead gods?

"Even Rhine knows how to use something like that to deal with Visas' power." Edwin said softly, "Not to mention the Abyss Prison? And Visas's body is underneath. To be honest, I'm not surprised that they put a true god down there."

Hevinia said nothing, but just stared quietly into the abyss below.

What she didn't know was that in the abyss at the bottom, the giant snake on the door slowly opened its scarlet eyes.
