Chapter 11 Preparation for Recruitment

"We ..................come from another universe."

Lieutenant Risjako was stunned, and so were the rest of the Hard Bone Corps.

But soon, Lieutenant Risjako came back to his senses and said with a serious face.

"General, you are so humorous."

However, Chang Wei looked at him seriously with sharp eyes, without saying anything.

Lieutenant Risjako's face changed, and he realized that Chang Wei might not be joking.

Combined with his previous careful observations, he found that the equipment and uniforms of the personnel on the Hyperion, as well as the posters and signs in the bar, were obviously very different from the human federal army he knew.

If they were a federal special forces unit, they should have excellent supplies and personnel quality. However, Lieutenant Risjako's observations had revealed that these individuals possessed a somewhat roving, unorganized, and often mercenary-like temperament.

So, Lieutenant Risjako lowered his head, stared at Chang Wei with his firm eyes, and asked cautiously in a deep voice.

"General, is what you said true?"

Chang Wei nodded at him calmly.

"Yes, I'm not kidding."

Lieutenant Risjako asked quickly.

"General, since you don't belong to the Human Federation, why did you come to save us? In other words, what is your purpose?"

As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere on the scene suddenly became tense.

Chang Wei's heart was also beating fast, but his mental state was still good. He suppressed his inner timidity and anxiety, and spoke calmly.

"Purpose? There's no purpose. I just happened to receive your distress signal. By the way, I rescued you from the encirclement of the Arachnis Zerg."

Lieutenant Risjako narrowed his eyes slightly, as if trying to tell the truth from Chang Wei's expression.

Both sides were silent for a moment. Lieutenant Risjako saw that he could not find any flaws. Considering that the hard-boned troops were all on the enemy's warships, and that the enemy had indeed saved his and his men's lives, he softened his tone and asked.

"So... General, may I ask what you plan to do with us?"

Chang Wei secretly breathed a sigh of relief and then answered his question.

"You have two choices. First, we will send you back to the nearest safe outpost. Second, join us and become a Marine, a Ranger."

"However, before you make your choice, I have to tell you one piece of information."

"After rescuing you, a fleet from the Human Federation unreasonably attempted to disarm and attack us. We were forced to counterattack and ultimately annihilated their entire fleet! This fleet was the one you had been calling for help from before, but received no response."

"In other words, you've actually been sold out by the Federation High Command. They've deliberately sent you to your deaths! To test whether the Arachnis Zerg truly possess wisdom and strategy?"

To be honest, when Lieutenant Ruisjiako learned that no one answered Ruige's report, he had already had some guesses about this result. However, after hearing more accurate information from Chang Wei, he was a little bit unable to accept it for a while.

But his original profession was a teacher, and he had a high IQ. He quickly thought about what would happen to the Hard Bone Unit if they were sent back safely by the Hyperion.

Given the nature of those high-ranking officials in the Federation, they would definitely charge all of them with treason and even blame them for the loss of an entire fleet. By then, no matter how much they talked, they wouldn't be able to explain themselves; they would definitely be doomed!

In other words, whether they died in battle or were shot after returning, their fate was actually already determined.

A drop of cold sweat ran down Lieutenant Risjako's forehead.

Now it seems that joining Chang Wei's army may be the only way to survive. But will his own soldiers agree?

You know, they have families in the Earth Federation! If they are declared traitors, their families will be implicated too, right?

So, the perfect ending is for them to die on the battlefield?

Lieutenant Risjako looked at Chang Wei, apologized, and then spoke.

"General, I may not be able to make the decision on this matter. Please allow me to discuss it with my subordinates. I will give you an answer later. Is that okay with you?"

Chang Wei saw his inner hesitation and spoke frankly.

"Yes, if you choose to join us, we will take you out of this universe. We will also inform the Human Federation that you have been annihilated by us. You all fought bravely until the very end."

Lieutenant Risjako's eyes trembled for a moment, but he quickly calmed down and nodded to Chang Wei in thanks.

"Thank you for your understanding, General. We will give you an answer soon!"
