The Supreme Commander of the Imperial Third Fleet, operating on the left flank, was a veteran who favored promoting talented subordinates. He looked at the silent communication channel and asked a blue-skinned Chiss man in military uniform beside him.
"Commodore Zoro, what do you think of the current situation? Please share your opinion. While surrounded by our army, the rebels are interfering with our communications. What exactly is their plan?"
The Brigadier General known as Zoro replied to the Supreme Commander's question with a serious face: "I think this means that the rebels are preparing to adopt a tactic of defeating them one by one!"
"Oh? Tell me about it."
Zoro continued, "The rebels will undoubtedly concentrate their superior forces to first eliminate the Imperial First Fleet, which is directly in front of them. This is because the rebels are closest to the First Fleet, while our Third Fleet and Second Fleet are the farthest away. As far as the rebels are concerned, even after defeating the First Fleet, they may still be able to eliminate the other fleet before we can rendezvous with the Second Fleet."
After hearing this, the Supreme Commander seriously retorted, "But the First Fleet won't be destroyed so easily."
Zoro gazed out the porthole at the dark starry sky and spoke calmly, "I suspect the two armies will engage in a head-on confrontation. Since the rebels dare to do so, they must have something to rely on. Perhaps they've hidden their forces, or perhaps their warships have a clear technological advantage, or perhaps their personnel are highly skilled, leading to a very confident prediction of victory or defeat."
The Supreme Commander thought this made sense, so he said, "If that's the case, then we should rush to the battlefield and rescue the First Fleet. If all goes well, we might even be able to strike the rebels from behind."
Zoro shook his head: "I'm afraid that's impossible."
"Hmm? Brigadier General Zoro, what do you mean by that?"
"Sir, the battle will likely be over before we arrive. The rebels will leave the battlefield early and launch a surprise attack from behind one of the fleets before we can rendezvous with the Second Fleet."
The Supreme Commander frowned and asked, "Then what do you think we should do?"
Zoro smiled faintly and offered his own answer: "We should immediately halt our support efforts and instead head towards the Second Fleet, aiming for a rendezvous at the shortest possible distance. This way, we can set the new battlefield at our rendezvous point and confront the rebels with superior forces."
The Supreme Commander was clearly dissatisfied, his tone laced with sternness: "Do you mean to let me watch the First Fleet being annihilated?"
Zoro said helplessly: "At this point, no matter what we do, it's too late."
The Supreme Commander glanced at Zoro and said, "Do you know what the consequences are for disobeying pre-established combat orders under Imperial military law?"
Zoro straightened his face, appearing extremely serious. "Then... in this way, the Empire's punitive army will likely be defeated piecemeal, and ultimately annihilated!"
The Supreme Commander still refused to give up, stubbornly believing that the First Fleet could not be defeated so easily. He also acted like a senior, criticizing Zoro's words as empty talk and unrealistic speculation.
Especially when discussing the rebels' supreme commander, Chang Wei, despite his resolute demeanor, the graphic analysis revealed him to be a mere twenty-something with little combat command experience. Compared to the battle-hardened commander of the First Fleet, he was a far cry from that!
Zoro chose to remain silent, not refutating. To put it bluntly, the art of military strategy is simply how to make a soldier's death count. But his superior clearly hasn't grasped this principle. Fear of loss only leads to greater loss! While experience is important, some people are born to lead in battle! These individuals are known as tactical geniuses!
.......................................................
Chang Wei did not care about the fleeing and paralyzed enemy warships. Now the emphasis was on speed, so who would have the time to clean up the battlefield?
Following his orders, the entire Rebel Alliance fleet began to veer off, launching a surprise attack on the starboard rear of the Imperial Second Fleet. Without the ability to jump faster than light, the journey would take four hours. Chang Wei also took this time to take a quick shower, as the previous command had left him sweating profusely, his clothes soaking wet.
The whole process was a risky one; one wrong move would mean a complete loss. His death wouldn't matter, but I was worried about the consequences for the countless people who trusted him and were willing to entrust their lives to him...
Many people know that with great power comes great responsibility. But few people mention the following: With great responsibility comes great risk. The heavier the burden, the greater the pressure!
Chang Wei's gamble proved to be a success. The Imperial Fleet's commanders were more interested in gaining fame and pleasing the Emperor than achieving strategic objectives. The feat of annihilating the Rebel Alliance's fleet and capturing Chang Wei's head was far more valuable to these Imperial generals than simply capturing a single city or territory.
This also made them, who were eager for quick success and instant benefits, fall into Chang Wei's trap.
Four hours later, Chang Wei sat in the command chair again, looking deeply at the Empire's Second Fleet, which was suffering a fierce "backstab" from our army. The big stone hanging in his heart was finally put down.
"Stupid fellow! Not only did he not conduct a tactical detour, he even dared to turn around and counterattack, exposing the largest area of his attack to our army? Didn't he think his death was quick enough? With such a good-for-nothing, it's no wonder that in the official Star Wars history, the Empire, despite having the advantage in manpower and equipment, was overwhelmed by the Rebel Alliance's X-wing fighters! Serves them right!"
