Chapter 229 "Keeping a Hand"

Firstly, entering the solar system isn't easy. According to reports, after the Horus Heresy, the Imperium of Mankind explicitly prohibited any military from approaching the solar system during peacetime. Any such approach would be considered treason! It's almost like the saying, "Once bitten, one becomes afraid of the rope for ten years," right?

Therefore, in order to defend Terra and avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, the Human Empire naturally deployed heavy troops in the solar system!

As you approach the Sol System, after emerging from the Warp at Mandeville Point, you'll see a Star Fortress heavily garrisoned by Imperial Guards.

According to the basic setting of Warhammer 40K, human ships usually don't have their void shields fully activated when they first emerge from the Warp. Because void shields consume a lot of energy, ships don't usually operate them at full power in combat. Therefore, after emerging from the Warp, they are equivalent to being directly crippled by a Star Fortress with only half or even less than half of their shields. (A Star Fortress of any background will have no difficulty taking on a small fleet alone.)

If a fleet can survive and overcome this first obstacle, it will have to face the dense space defense facilities deployed on the route to Terra, such as star fortresses, orbital platforms and even fortress worlds (such as the moon), and patrolling between them will be the Empire's largest solar fleet.

What about small-scale stealth raids? Forget it!

The Solar System Watch patrol fleet, composed of several shield companies of the Custodes, would be vigilant and eliminate such small-scale infiltration fleets. Using the evil magic of the Warp would inevitably provoke attacks from the Grey Knights. Not to mention the existence of another powerful faction in the Solar System: the Mechanicus's headquarters on Mars!

Mars is protected by a huge Mechanicus fleet and Skitarii troops, and Phobos has been completely transformed into a planetary fortress filled with weapons and equipment.

Should one manage to make it through all of this and reach Terra, they would face the ultimate wrath of the Imperium: the impenetrable fortress of Terra itself, formed by the vast armies of the Imperial Guard, the Phalanx, the permanent garrison of the Third Company of the Imperial Fists.

To summarize, if the Lightseekers fleet tried to force its way into the Solar System to face the Emperor, it would be blocked by armies of all sizes, including the Solar Fleet, the Custodes, the Imperial Fists' three permanently stationed Phalanx, the massive Imperial Guard, a vast number of fortress worlds plus orbital combat platforms, the Mechanicus Skitarii and their fleets, the Major Sisters of War, and so on.

However, Chang Wei was not going to fight. He would not do such a thankless task that would cut off his future strength.

Perhaps the Emperor is sitting on a golden toilet, legs numb from sitting, unable to leave the palace to deliver his decree. Perhaps the golden giant is battling several evil gods of the Warp and can't split his attention. Plus, humans in Warhammer 40,000 are incredibly stubborn, so getting away with being cute is a real challenge!

However, there are always more solutions than problems. Who would have thought! Rogal Dorn had a trick up his sleeve back then! Wouldn't this be the perfect time to stage a "return of the dead"?
