Chapter 12 Deep in the Mountains

Chenjiagou is right next to Jinghu Village.

With nothing to do, Qin Luo took advantage of the moonlight to come to Chenjiagou. The night was quiet and the evening breeze was cool.

The path on Black Mountain is wider than before, clearly cleaned, and the trees on both sides have been trimmed.

Late at night, candlelight still shone in the newly built mountain god temple. Qin Luo slowly walked into the temple and saw the statue of the god placed high up, covered with dazzling gold leaf.

Chen Chang'an stepped out of the statue, cupped his hands in a gesture of respect, and his joy was evident on his face. "Immortal Master, I did not expect you to visit so late at night. I am sorry for not welcoming you properly. Please forgive me."

Qin Luo waved his hand gently, "I just stopped by to see if you've settled into your new life."

"I'm used to it now."

Chen Chang'an nodded with a smile, "I was indeed a little unaccustomed at first, and I didn't know what the mountain god should do. Fortunately, I had guidance from the local earth god of Mirror Lake next door."

"If any cultivators come looking for trouble in the future, tell them to come to Longhu Temple and find me." Qin Luo made Chen Chang'an the mountain god, so he would naturally take responsibility if Chen Chang'an encountered any problems.

Chen Chang'an nodded heavily and bowed in gratitude, "Thank you, Immortal Master. The Earth God of Mirror Lake reminded me that I will keep a low profile and not cause you any trouble."

Qin Luo smiled slightly, "I'm about the same age as you, just treat me as a friend, no need to be so polite."

"Brother Qin."

"Chang'an".

Qin Luo patted Chen Chang'an on the shoulder.

Ordinary creatures could not even see Chen Chang'an, let alone touch him, but Qin Luo was able to pat him on the shoulder.

"Hahaha."

Chen Chang'an and Qin Luo exchanged a smile.

Chen Chang'an said warmly, "Brother Qin, I have some wine here that the villagers gave me. Why don't you sit down and have a couple of drinks?"

"OK."

Qin Luo nodded with a smile.

You should drink when you're happy.

Chen Chang'an reached for the wine jar on the offering table. As soon as he opened the lid, the aroma of wine wafted out. He poured two cups of wine and said respectfully, "Brother Qin, let me offer you a toast first."

Qin Luo picked up his wine glass.

He drank it all in one gulp.

“Brother Qin, that senior from Mirror Lake told me that there is a spiritual vein underground in Black Mountain, where the spiritual energy of heaven and earth is abundant. You can cultivate here in the future, and you should be able to achieve twice the results with half the effort.”

This is Montenegro's secret.

Chen Chang'an did not hide anything from Qin Luo.

Qin Luo concentrated intently, his eyes gleaming with golden light. The world before him became clear, and deep beneath the Black Mountain, there was a golden river, an extremely rare spiritual vein.

Such places are prone to giving rise to mountain spirits and ghosts.

No wonder the Black Rat Spirit has become so powerful.

"This is indeed a good place for cultivation."

Qin Luo had no intention of cultivating here. His master had once told him that the Great Dao is not about contention, and that true cultivators seek enlightenment and longevity, not about plundering the resources of heaven and earth.

He ate the clouds and drank the dew, taking only what he needed in moderation.

"Chang'an, the spiritual energy here is abundant. You should cultivate diligently and accumulate merit. In the future, the land you govern will not only be Black Mountain, but very likely the entire Purple Cloud Mountain Range, or even the vast land where the dynasty below the mountain is located."

"I will keep Brother Qin's teachings in mind."

"Come on, let's drink."

Qin Luo picked up his wine glass again.

Chen Chang'an immediately raised his wine glass in response.

Qin Luo transmigrated to the Tianxuan Continent and didn't have many friends. Now that he has friends to chat with, he is very happy.

After several rounds of drinks, the night grew dark.

Qin Luo stood up and said goodbye to Chen Chang'an.

"Chang'an, I'll come find you for a drink again sometime."

"Brother Qin, take care."

Chen Chang'an respectfully saw Qin Luo off.

Qin Luo headed deeper into the Purple Cloud Mountains. He had heard stories about the mountains before and wanted to see them for himself.

...

Jinyang City.

The streets were bustling with activity.

Chen Changshou followed the caravan into the city. He was in Jinyang City mainly to purchase goods, as incense and candles sold very well before the Red Moon Festival. Secondly, he wanted to know how much Qin Luo's house-protecting talisman was worth.

Treasure Pavilion.

The most famous trading place in Jinyang City.

The Treasure Pavilion has three floors. On the first floor, there are many counters for appraising treasures, where experts in the field are stationed. Chen Changshou found an empty spot, took out a talisman from his pocket, and handed it to the old man behind the counter. "This is a talisman that I obtained by chance. Could you please take a look at it?"

The white-browed old man sat leisurely behind the counter. He reached out and took the talisman, touched the talisman paper, and smiled contemptuously, "This talisman paper is very new, it should have been drawn just two days ago."

Chen Changshou nodded and answered truthfully, "That's right, this is a house-protecting talisman I recently received. It came from a master at Longhu Temple. I wonder how much this talisman is worth?"

The white-browed old man was initially disdainful, but upon seeing the patterns on the talisman, his brows furrowed slightly. He had seen many talismans, but none had given him such a strong shock.

I pondered it for a long time.

The white-browed old man was undecided.

"Sir, please come upstairs with me."

The white-browed old man stood up and personally led Chen Changshou to the second floor of the Treasure Pavilion. He gently knocked on the door and respectfully said, "Elder Wu, there is a talisman that I need you to take a look at."

"Come in."

Inside the room, an elderly man in white robes sat cross-legged on the Taoist altar. Wu Qingliu had a full head of white hair and looked quite healthy.

The white-browed old man led Chen Changshou into the room and handed the house-protecting talisman to Wu Qingliu.

Wu Qingliu stared at the talisman in his hand.

Chen Changshou was a little nervous.

He wanted to know the value of the house-protecting talisman.

Wu Qingliu's eyes widened, barely suppressing his excitement, "Spiritual energy is overflowing, it seems to be a talisman master."

Upon hearing this, Chen Changshou was overjoyed and quickly asked, "Senior Wu, may I ask how much this house-protecting talisman is worth?"

Wu Qingliu suppressed his smile, thought for a moment, and then chuckled, "The Treasure Pavilion is willing to offer five hundred taels to purchase the talisman paper."

Five hundred taels?

Chen Changshou was overjoyed, but as a businessman, he wasn't blinded by excitement. He tentatively asked, "Old Wu, this house-protecting talisman should cost more than five hundred taels."
