Chapter 128 The Road Home

Spring is here and flowers are in bloom.

The vegetation in the mountains is thriving.

Deep in the mountains, there is a lush green terraced field. Qin Luo walks on the ridge of the field, and the little dumpling points to the small fish in the rice paddy, "Boss, there are lots of fish in the field."

"These are rice paddy fish raised by local residents."

I want to eat grilled fish.

"Let's finish memorizing the Thousand Character Classic first."

Ye Nanxing said with a smile, "Little dumpling, when we get to town, I'll treat you to grilled fish."

"Okay!"

The little dumpling nodded happily.

However, she was still memorizing the Thousand Character Classic.

Near the terraced fields is a small village, with red walls and black tiles as far as the eye can see. It's almost noon now, and smoke is rising from the chimneys in the mountains. You can smell the smoke from a distance.

When Qin Luo and his group passed through the village, they attracted a lot of onlookers. They were curious, as many of the villagers had never left the mountains in their entire lives.

An elderly man with a cane approached Qin Luo, bowed respectfully, and said, "Daoist Master, I am Zhou Fugui, the village chief of Zhoujia Village."

Qin Luo bowed in return, "I am Qin Luo from Longhu Temple. Greetings, Old Village Chief. What brings you here, Old Village Chief?"

Zhou Fugui frowned. "Master, the Weasel spirit from the mountains often comes to the village asking for chickens. It also threatens the villagers, saying that if they don't give it food, it will eat the children."

"You beast!"

Qin Luo frowned slightly.

Ye Nanxing stepped forward, her face beaming. "It's just a weasel. No need to trouble you, senior. I'll take care of it."

Qin Luo kindly reminded him, "Be careful, we'll wait here for your good news."

The surrounding villagers were overjoyed. They had been bullied by Huang Daxian for many years, and recently Huang Daxian had become increasingly outrageous, even demanding that the people build a palace for it.

Qin Luo looked at the dark and thin Shi Tou, who was wearing tattered clothes and whose eyes were full of curiosity, and chuckled, "Shi Tou, would you like to come with your sister to take a look?"

"think."

Stone nodded.

Qin Luo wanted to test Shi Tou's courage, so she said softly, "Follow behind your sister, and run if things go wrong."

Ye Nanxing patted her chest, her expression confident, "Don't be afraid, I'm very capable."

Shi Tou was a little nervous. He followed closely behind Ye Nanxing as they walked into the woods behind the village.

"Hehe, they're so stupid."

The little dumpling couldn't help but burst out laughing.

More and more villagers gathered around, and a middle-aged strong man brought Qin Luo a chair, saying, "Taoist Master, please sit down."

Qin Luo looked at the elderly village chief and joked with a smile, "If the village chief doesn't sit, how can I sit?"

"You flatter me, Daoist Master." Zhou Fugui grinned from ear to ear. Qin Luo looked like a sage, but he didn't have the arrogance of an immortal, and he felt very easy to get along with.

The little boy pointed to the salted fish hanging on the bamboo pole and politely said, "Grandpa, I want to eat fish."

"no problem."

"Quickly give the salted fish to the little fairy."

Zhou Fugui nodded repeatedly and instructed the junior beside him to bring a very large salted fish.

The little dumpling grabbed a salted fish several times its own size with both hands and started gnawing on it. It looked tiny, but it ate the salted fish quite quickly. Qin Luo could only shake his head helplessly and tell him that taking something without asking is stealing, but she just asked for it directly.

"What's the difference between you and a weasel?"

"I'm cute, weasels aren't as cute as me, and I won't threaten them."

"You have all four limbs and you're not a child anymore. You're not allowed to ask for food from now on," Qin Luo said sternly.

"All right!"

The little dumpling nodded obediently.

The villagers around had never seen such a young girl before. They felt that the little dumpling was extraordinary, perhaps even a little fairy.

"It's delicious, but it's too salty. Big brother, do you want some?" The little dumpling didn't want to eat anymore.

Zhou Fugui quickly explained, "This salted dried fish is usually used for making soup."

Qin Luo stared at the little dumpling and said seriously, "If you want to eat it, then finish it."

"I know!"

The little dumpling could only continue gnawing on dried fish.

Just as the little dumpling finished eating the dried fish, the sounds of fighting came from the forest, followed by shouts of surprise.

Not long after, Ye Nanxing ran back to the village, her face contorted in pain, and she couldn't help but vomit.

Then Stone ran into the village, his face pale, clearly terrified by the weasel.

"Hahaha."

The little dumpling burst into laughter, "Even seasoned birds know that weasels stink terribly."

Stone was alright; he often scavenged for food and could tolerate the weasel's stench. But Ye Nanxing's stomach was churning. "I can't take it anymore, but I managed to chase the weasel away."

The surrounding villagers, however, were not happy. One woman frowned and said, "What will we do if the weasel comes back?"

"That's right, we've provoked the weasel this time, it will definitely take revenge on us later!"

"What should we do?"

The villagers were very worried.

Boom!

A clap of thunder sounded, a sudden bolt from the blue, silencing the village.

Qin Luo stood up. "Please rest assured, everyone, that weasel will not appear in the village again."

Hearing the commotion in the mountains, the surrounding villagers quickly realized that the young Taoist priest in front of them was a living deity with profound Taoist skills and the ability to summon heavenly thunder. Zhou Fugui stood up, trembling with excitement, and said, "Thank you, Taoist priest."

"Thank you, Daoist Master!"

The surrounding villagers echoed this sentiment.

Qin Luo took out two door god portraits. "Old village chief, can I trade you for two wild vegetable dumplings?"

Zhou Fugui, holding the door god portrait, said, "Taoist Master, we're just about to eat. Why don't you join us?"

Qin Luo smiled and shook his head, "Thank you for your kindness, old village chief. Just give us two wild vegetable dumplings; we still have a long way to go."
