Leave the Valley of the Underworld.
Qin Luo and his group continued south.
Surrounded by towering mountains and narrow mountain roads, with many peaks soaring into the clouds, Qin Luo did not detour around the foot of the mountain, but instead carried the stones over the mountains and ridges.
Stone carried the black pot on his back and the heavy burden on his shoulders. He often stumbled and fell, but he never uttered a sound. Every time he fell, he would quickly get up and continue walking forward.
Qin Luo arrived at the mountain peak.
Looking at the boundless sea of clouds, the little dumpling shouted at the top of its lungs, "The Qi of the heavens is vast and boundless, and my Dao is flourishing day by day."
Ripples spread across the sea of clouds.
Qin Luo smiled and nodded.
When Shi Tou finally reached the summit, panting heavily, a strong gust of wind nearly knocked him over.
Stone wobbled but managed to stand firm. He looked up and saw the bright sunshine, the golden sea of clouds, and beyond the mountains were more mountains. The sky was clear and boundless, as if he could reach out and touch the sky. This was a beautiful sight that could not be seen in Nanxun City.
"Have some water and rest for a while."
Qin Luo handed the golden gourd to Shi Tou.
"Thank you, big brother."
Stone felt that the gourd was small and probably didn't contain much water, so he didn't dare to drink too much. He only took a small sip each time, and soon the feeling of fatigue disappeared.
Qin Luo put away the golden gourd, looked into the distance, and said softly, "Stone, what do you want to do in the future?"
Stone had never thought about this question before. "I just want to have enough to eat and warm clothes to wear."
"Your vision is too narrow."
The little dumpling shook her head, and she raised her eyebrows, "You must have dreams, you must ride the wind on a sword and become a carefree immortal."
Stone quickly shook his head.
These were things he dared not even think about.
Qin Luo looked at the stone and thought of many children around his age. His junior sister was much happier. Lu Xiaobao's life was very hard, but he had an older sister. The two siblings faced life with smiles. The little girl named Yuanyuan was even more pitiful than the stone. She froze to death in a corner of the mountain god temple.
After enjoying the view from the mountaintop, Qin Luo headed down the mountain, and Shi Tou quickly followed.
evening.
The mountains and forests were dyed red.
Qin Luo and the others rested by the river.
Stone gathered firewood.
He tried again to start a fire by rubbing sticks together.
This time, the grass was lit, and the stone had an excited smile on its face. A bonfire was lit on the riverbank. He tried many ways to put the black pot on the bonfire. After fiddling around for a long time, he finally thought of building a simple stove with stones.
Qin Luo didn't teach Shi Tou. Watching him make mistakes repeatedly, he had to learn to deal with various situations on his own.
Shi Tou put the steamed buns and zongzi into the pot. Before long, the steamed buns were burnt. Hearing the burnt smell, he quickly took the scalding hot steamed buns out.
Whoosh!
Shi Tou tore off the burnt parts, blew the black ash off the steamed bun, and finally handed the cooked bun to Qin Luo, his eyes bright, saying, "Big brother, here you go."
Qin Luo took the baked bun and tasted it carefully. It had a slightly charred aroma and tasted pretty good. He smiled and reminded him, "Steamed buns and zongzi should be steamed over water."
"Uh-huh."
The stone nodded heavily.
"Hehe, everything can be grilled!"
The little girl tore the steamed buns into small pieces, skewered them, and grilled them over the fire. When they turned golden brown, she stuffed them into her mouth and said proudly, "Grilled steamed buns are the best!"
Shi Tou tore open the burnt bamboo leaves and smelled a wonderful aroma. He quickly handed the rice dumpling to Qin Luo and smiled innocently, "Big brother, this should be delicious."
"I'm full, you can eat."
Qin Luo smiled and declined.
As Shi Tou ate the roasted zongzi, he suddenly noticed a piece of meat inside. Reluctant to eat it, he excitedly said, "Sister Tuanzi, there's a piece of meat here, you can have it."
"It really is meat!"
The little girl skewered a piece of pork belly with a bamboo stick, ate it, and grinned, "So satisfying!"
Looking at the smiles on their faces, Qin Luo realized that happiness is actually very simple; as long as you are well-fed and watered, that's enough.
at night.
Stone scrubbed the black pot clean.
The little dumpling nestled in Qin Luo's pocket to rest.
In the quiet night, there wasn't even a chirp of insects in the woods. Qin Luo sat cross-legged by the campfire, meditating. Shi Tou followed Qin Luo's example and sat cross-legged in meditation, breathing in sync with Qin Luo's rhythm and listening to the voice deep within his heart.
The stone glowed with a faint firelight.
Three days later.
Qin Luo and his group emerged from the deep mountains.
There are roads leading in all directions around it.
Early in the morning, Qin Luo and the others were walking along the roadside. The little girl was picking cat's claw thorn leaves by the roadside. She piled the triangular leaves together and then put them in her mouth to chew them.
Stone ate the leaves of the cat's paw thorn, nodding with a simple smile, "It's sweet and sour, this is delicious."
Normally, Qin Luo didn't talk to Shi Tou much. Most of the time, it was Xiao Tuanzi who taught him what was edible and what was poisonous in the mountains. She was an expert in outdoor survival.
There are inns by the roadside.
There is a teahouse not far from the inn.
Qin Luo led Shi Tou into the teahouse and said with a smile, "Boss, a pot of tea, please."
The young waiter brought over a pot of hot tea and said warmly, "Master Dao, here's your tea."
"Thanks."
Qin Luo nodded with a smile.
Stone bowed in greeting.
It was still early morning, and business at the teahouse was so-so. The young waiter, who was in charge of serving customers, was quite relaxed. He asked curiously, "Master Daoist, are you going to Yuzhou City?"
Qin Luo shook his head slightly, "No."
The young waiter asked in surprise, "There's a highly skilled immortal master in Yuzhou City recently. I thought you were going to visit him."
Qin Luo poured two cups of tea and asked with a smile, "May I ask how that immortal master is addressed?"
The young waiter smiled and said, "That immortal master is named Gu Changsheng. He established the Fire God Temple in Yuzhou City and is hailed as the living Fire God."
