Chapter 133
The street outside the Vulcan Temple.
Stone and Little Dumpling set up a stall to sell roasted insects. Various kinds of roasted insects, sizzling with oil, were neatly arranged on the barbecue grill, attracting many onlookers.
After the chubby boy tried it, more and more daring people paid to taste the roasted insects. Most of them were adults, as many children were afraid of insects.
The little girl strung the copper coins she had earned together with a red string, beaming from ear to ear. Stone was in charge of promotion. He ate roasted insects while shouting out his wares. At first, he was a little reserved and his voice was very soft, but as he gradually got used to it, his shouts could be heard throughout the Taoist temple.
Hearing the commotion outside, Gu Changsheng couldn't help but chuckle. "Junior brother, did you pick up that child?"
Qin Luo nodded slightly and said softly, "Shitou is very sensible. I want to find him a home."
“You didn’t listen to any of the principles Master taught.” Gu Changsheng shook his head with a smile. “Why don’t we let him stay at the Fire God Temple and do odd jobs? I’ll give him food.”
"Let him choose."
Qin Luo did not make a decision for Shi Tou.
The Suanni smelled the roasted insects, jumped off the incense burner, and ran outside the Taoist temple, howling!
"No barking allowed!"
The little dumpling's eyes widened.
The Suanni dared not talk back; it lay on the ground and rolled around, blinking its large, bell-like eyes.
Many locals were attracted by the cuteness of the Suanni. They knew that there was a mythical beast at the Fire God Temple, but the Suanni was usually hidden in the smoke, so they rarely saw it.
Because of the Suanni, more and more people gathered to watch, and more and more people came to buy roasted insects. So the little dumpling didn't chase the Suanni away, and even gave it a string of roasted insects as a reward, and the string of copper coins in its hand kept increasing.
In the evening.
All the grilled bamboo shoots and worms were sold out, leaving only a few skewers of scorpions and centipedes. Little Tuanzi saw that Suanni was working hard to act cute and charming, so she threw two skewers of food to Suanni.
The Suanni wagged its tail happily.
The little dumpling was carrying a large bunch of copper coins. She took out five coins and said, "Stone, this is your wages."
"Thank you, Sister Tuanzi."
Stone looked at the copper coin in his hand with a bright smile on his face; it was something he had earned with his sweat.
The little dumpling took to the air, leaving the mess at the barbecue stand for Stone to clean up, and flew into the Taoist temple alone. "Boss, look how smart I am!"
Qin Luo gave a thumbs up, "You're very smart, but you should use your intelligence for good."
"I know!"
The little dumpling tossed two copper coins to Gu Changsheng, a smile playing on his lips. "Big brother, you're welcome!"
"Then I must thank you. I bought the bamboo for three coins, and you gave me two coins back."
"Alright, here's two more coins for you."
The little dumpling tossed out two more coins.
"Hey boss, wanna go shopping? My treat!"
"You guys go have fun, just don't cause any trouble."
Alright!
Little Dumpling darted away from the Taoist temple. She stood on Stone's shoulder, tossing a few copper coins between her hands like she was performing acrobatics. "Stone, Sister Dumpling will take you shopping."
"Sister Tuanzi, let me clean this place up first." Shi Tou didn't want to dirty the street because Qin Luo had said that we shouldn't litter.
The little dumpling looked at the Suanni and scolded, "Are you a dog? All you know is eating. Hurry up and clean this place up."
The Suanni was stunned.
It spews flames from its mouth.
The garbage on the ground was burned away.
Little Dumpling and Stone ran out to stroll around the street.
After sunset, bright red lanterns hang in the streets. Strong men perform breaking large stones on their chests, little girls perform jumping through fire hoops, and short dwarfs walk on stilts.
"It's quite lively!"
Little Dumpling and Stone stood at the front watching them perform their tricks.
A middle-aged man in gray clothes stepped forward, straightened his back, and said, "Thank you all for your support. In order to repay your support, I have decided to make a decision that goes against my ancestors' wishes and bring out my family's ancestral remedy, which can cure all kinds of difficult and complicated diseases. It only costs twenty coins. You won't lose out or be cheated."
"I don't believe you!"
The little dumpling stood with its hands on its hips.
The middle-aged man in gray looked at the little dumpling, his brows furrowed. At this moment, Shi Tou, fearing a beating, turned and ran away, taking the little dumpling with him.
The little dumpling tapped the stone's head, "Stone, what are you afraid of?"
Stone stopped when he saw that no one was chasing him. "Sister Tuanzi, let's not cause trouble, or we'll get beaten up."
"What's there to be afraid of? I've never lost a fight." The little dumpling proudly raised its head.
Stone believed in Little Dumpling, but still didn't want to cause trouble, so they continued shopping. Little Dumpling saw a bird locked in a cage, and she controlled the little golden scissors.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
The surrounding birdcages were subsequently cut open.
Many beautiful little birds took flight, and the little dumpling waved to the sky, giggling, "Sisters, you're welcome!"
"My bird!"
One wealthy man was so angry that he beat his chest and stamped his feet.
The little dumpling was grinning from ear to ear, while Stone tried his best not to laugh. He felt it was wrong, but he was just so happy.
There was a vendor selling melon seeds on the street. Little Dumpling directed Stone to go over and ask the price. Stone mustered up his courage and asked, "Boss, how much are these melon seeds?"
The old man selling melon seeds smiled and replied, "Young man, plain melon seeds are six coins a pound, and spiced melon seeds are five coins a pound."
The little dumpling thought for a moment, "I want to try it first."
"no problem."
The old man was surprised to see the little dumpling, thinking she was a dwarf. He used a spoon to scoop up two kinds of melon seeds for the little dumpling and the stone to taste.
The little girl munched on sunflower seeds, nodding contentedly. "Grandpa, you're so silly. Spiced sunflower seeds are obviously tastier, so why are they cheaper than plain ones?"
