Outside Yuzhou City, at Shuiyun Terrace.
A magnificent waterfall cascades down, splashing countless droplets of water, while a hazy mist hangs over the mountains and waters.
Shuiyuntai, shrouded in mist in the middle of the lake, resembled a fairyland. The disciples of Qingyang Temple stood on the lakeside with their swords sheaths in hand, their heads held high and chests out. Their green robes fluttered in the wind, and they stood as still as pine trees. The aura they exuded carried a powerful sense of oppression.
The old Taoist priest with white eyebrows stood up.
A loud cry echoed through the sky.
All the younger disciples of Qingyang Temple looked in the direction of the sound.
In an instant, dazzling flames ripped through the sky, and fiery red birds blotted out the sun, circling above the Water Cloud Platform, causing the temperature between heaven and earth to rise rapidly.
The younger disciples of Qingyang Temple looked nervous; they were startled by the sudden appearance of the fiery red bird.
It was far stronger than any monster they had ever seen.
Even the Taoist priest with sword-like eyebrows and the Taoist priest with a square face dared not be careless, as they could sense that the bird was very strong.
Only the old Taoist priest with white eyebrows remained calm.
Immediately afterwards, the mountain-sized Suanni arrived at the lakeside on fiery clouds. With a roar, it caused ripples in the clouds and mist, frightening the Qingyang Temple disciples on the lakeside into retreating.
Gu Changsheng sat behind the Suanni. When he jumped down, Qin Luo brought Shi Tou and Yao Cheng to the lakeside.
Looking at so many Qingyang Temple disciples, Shi Tou wondered if he could be of any help when the fight broke out.
In the sky, the fiery red bird suddenly swooped down from a great height, causing heat waves to rise from the ground. The enormous creature made many of the younger disciples of Qingyang Temple feel their legs go weak.
Sword-Eyebrowed Taoist priest frowned. He had originally intended to intimidate the Fire God Temple, but he hadn't expected them to have two divine beasts.
The enormous fiery red bird eventually transformed into a little girl in a red dress, and the little dumpling landed on Qin Luo's shoulder.
The younger generation of Qingyang Temple were quite frightened. Their eyes were filled with awe, knowing that Huoshen Temple was not to be trifled with.
The little dumpling stretched out its hand to Gu Changsheng, raised its eyebrows, and said, "Big brother, hurry up and give me the money."
"I don't have any money right now. Just write it down and I'll pay you back when I go to the Purple Cloud Mountains later," Gu Changsheng said with a smile. He asked the little dumpling to help him out and promised to give her five taels of silver as a reward.
"You're not lying to me, are you?"
"If I'm lying to you, I'll bark like a dog."
"All right."
The little dumpling nodded in satisfaction.
A gentle breeze dispersed the mist on the lake, and bright sunlight shone on the Water Cloud Terrace. The white-browed old Taoist raised his head, a glint in his cloudy eyes. "The Emperor is watching us."
The old Taoist with white eyebrows looked at the golden light that was falling on the world and was excited. He then looked at Qin Luo and Gu Changsheng by the lake and cupped his hands, saying, "This humble Taoist is Lu Qingshan."
"Vulcan Temple, Gu Changsheng."
"Longhu Temple, Qin Luo."
Qin Luo and Gu Changsheng bowed at the same time.
The sword-browed Taoist priest beside the white-browed Taoist priest said coldly, "No wonder Abbot Gu is so confident. It turns out he has found a helper. Do you think only the Fire God Temple can find help?"
Gu Changsheng smiled and shook his head, "He is my junior brother. I brought him here to broaden his horizons."
Qin Luo smiled and said softly, "Senior, why don't we sit down and talk?"
The square-faced Taoist priest standing to the side curled his lip, his eyes filled with anger, "Gu Changsheng, when you built the Fire God Temple in Yuzhou City, did you consult with us?"
Gu Changsheng said with a smile, "Qingyang Temple can also build its Taoist temple in Yuzhou City. Even if it's built next to Huoshen Temple, I have no objection."
Holding a whisk, Lu Qingshan said solemnly, "Those who cultivate should stay away from the mortal world. Why did Abbot Gu have to build the Taoist temple in Yuzhou City and corrupt the Taoist atmosphere?"
Gu Changsheng sighed softly, “It seems that your level is far inferior to my master’s. When I was cultivating on the mountain, my master often said that minor cultivators cultivate in the deep mountains, while major cultivators cultivate in the world. He told us to go down the mountain to experience life. The mortal world is a big dye vat. A skilled cultivator can emerge from the mud unsullied. Your fear of the mortal world can only mean that your level is not high enough.”
Qin Luo nodded slightly. His master had indeed said those things, instructing them to go down the mountain to borrow food.
The disciples of Qingyang Temple looked at each other in bewilderment after hearing this, and some even felt that it made some sense.
The sword-browed Taoist priest's eyes were filled with anger. Gu Changsheng's words were undoubtedly a mockery of Qingyang Temple.
Lu Qingshan wasn't angry; he was more curious. "Who is Abbot Gu's master?"
Gu Changsheng shook his head helplessly, "When I left the Taoist temple, my master warned me not to mention his identity outside. Please forgive me, senior."
The two Taoist priests, one with sword-like eyebrows and the other with a square face, frowned deeply. They had investigated Gu Changsheng but found nothing about his background. Now, a young junior brother had suddenly appeared with a mysterious master behind him, suggesting that he had quite a background. But how could they be willing to let him occupy the incense offerings in Yuzhou City like this?
Lu Qingshan didn't press the matter. He said earnestly, "Abbot Gu, if you truly have the ability, I can allow you to open a Taoist temple in Yuzhou City."
Gu Changsheng squinted and teased with a smile, "Senior, do you intend to bully the weak? If the other sects knew, they would definitely laugh at you."
"Ge Lie, go and spar with Master Gu. Remember, stop when you've made your move."
"Disciple understands."
The Taoist priest with sword-like eyebrows smiled slightly.
Lu Qingshan and the square-faced Taoist priest left Shuiyuntai. They watched the battle from a short distance away. Ge Lie stood on Shuiyuntai, looking confident, and extended his hand, saying, "Please!"
Gu Changsheng looked at Qin Luo and coughed softly, "Junior brother, this role is yours."
Qin Luo said with a smile, "Senior brother, you just said you were bringing me here to broaden my horizons."
Gu Changsheng patted Qin Luo on the shoulder, "Senior brother wants to train you, don't be afraid, senior brother will back you up."
Qin Luo shook his head and chuckled, "Senior brother, if you pay me, I can help you out."
