In the sunset glow.
Qin Luo is turning over the soil with a hoe.
Zhu Xian was weeding in the nearby broad bean field.
A gentle breeze swept across the hillside, and the sunset painted the mountains red. Zhu Xian looked up and murmured, "Isn't it dark yet?"
After Qin Luo finished hoeing the ground, he looked at Zhu Xian and chuckled, "Your Highness, how was the work?"
"Here I am Azhu!"
"Okay, Azhu."
Qin Luo smiled, holding the hoe.
Zhu Xian looked at the fluffy field and nodded slightly. "Not bad. Come early tomorrow to plant the seeds."
"OK."
Qin Luo smiled gently.
Zhu Xian packed the cleared weeds into a bamboo basket, then slung the basket over her shoulder. "Come on, come home with me."
Qin Luo followed behind Zhu Xian, carrying a hoe. He said with a smile, "It's really unexpected that the dark-faced girl hoeing the fields in the mountains is actually a princess of the Great Xia Dynasty."
"I am A'Zhu, not a princess!"
Zhu Xian frowned.
Qin Luo didn't say anything more.
They arrived at the foot of the mountain, where there was a wide river with a covered bridge over it, covered with wisteria blossoms, and birds and butterflies among the flowers.
Qin Luo stepped onto the wisteria-covered bridge. Looking at the beautiful scenery before him and smelling the fragrance of the flowers, he felt as if he had stepped into a fairyland.
Zhu Xian suddenly remembered something, "These wisteria flowers were planted by Ying'er; she really likes wisteria flowers."
"Purple has a lot of charm."
Qin Luo blurted it out.
Zhu Xian gave Qin Luo a strange look. "Wisteria flowers represent longing and obsession. Ying'er is sentimental, naive, and lacks assertiveness. If you dare to bully her, I will not let you off easily."
"You think too badly of me."
I hope I've misunderstood you.
Looking at the wisteria blossoms, Qin Luo thought of the flower shadows. Could it be that the flower shadows were someone's obsession?
After walking across the wisteria-covered bridge, Zhu Xian entered a small courtyard near the riverbank. The courtyard was surrounded by flowers and plants, and there was also a plum tree in full bloom, with white petals tinged with red.
"I planted this plum tree."
"very beautiful."
"You have good taste."
Zhu Xian went to the pigpen on the left side of the house. There were plump white piglets in the pigpen. She poured weeds into the pigpen and said with a clear laugh, "This pig is called Sang Biao."
"This name is very unique."
Qin Luo looked at the piglets in the pigpen and said, "You're lucky, kid, to be living in an emperor's house."
Hum times hum times!
The little pig was happily munching on grass.
Zhu Xian ladled out a bowl of dried corn, scattered it in the chicken coop, then turned back and smiled, "If you make me happy, I can let you come and eat the pig-slaughtering feast."
"I don't like eating meat."
Zhu Xian patted Qin Luo on the shoulder, "Don't lose your animalistic nature, or you'll be worse than a beast."
Qin Luo pondered it carefully and felt something was off. "Are you indirectly insulting me?"
"you guess!"
Zhu Xian playfully raised her eyebrows.
Qin Luo shook his head and chuckled softly.
Ooh ooh ooh—
A rooster crowed in the yard!
A black chicken was pooping in the yard.
Zhu Xian caught the black chicken and sneered, "So it was you who was pooping in the yard. I finally caught you."
"Qin Luo, let's play PUBG tonight!"
"Whatever."
Zhu Xian handed the black chicken to Qin Luo and said crisply, "I'll go boil some water, you kill the chicken."
"..."
"I'll go boil some water."
Zhu Xian curled her lip and said coldly, "Why are you acting like a woman? You can't even kill a chicken. Go to the kitchen and boil more water. I need to take a bath and cook later."
"good."
Qin Luo didn't pay any attention.
He quite liked Zhu Xian's personality.
The kitchen was filled with all sorts of household items, and Qin Luo could tell that Zhu Xian often lived here.
Outside the kitchen, the black chicken was still. Zhu Xian threw the freshly killed chicken into a bucket of boiling water. As she plucked its feathers, she asked, "Qin Luo, can you cook?"
Qin Luo thought for a moment, "I can make porridge."
Zhu Xian shook her head and sighed softly, "You and Ying'er are both spoiled, unlike me."
Qin Luo couldn't help but laugh; it was strange that these words came from Zhu Xian's mouth.
"Haven't you ever suffered before?"
"It's because I don't feel bitter."
Zhu Xian placed the cleaned black chicken on the cutting board. Holding the cleaver, she chopped the chicken into neat squares with a few quick snips. "Qin Luo, go and cook two bowls of rice. Cook them until they are seven-tenths done, then take them out and put them in a wooden bucket with gauze to steam them until fully cooked."
"knew."
Qin Luo nodded awkwardly.
Unexpectedly, the princess had to teach him how to cook.
Zhu Xian took out a small stove made of red clay, added red-hot charcoal to it, placed the blackened clay pot on the stove, poured in vegetable oil first, then various sauces and spices, and stir-fried them in the pot until fragrant.
Qin Luo watched Zhu Xian's skillful operation and couldn't help but admire her, "Why are you so good?"
Zhu Xian raised an eyebrow and said arrogantly, "I will be the ruler of a country in the future. If I don't know anything, how can I be an empress?"
"That makes sense."
Qin Luo gave her a thumbs up.
Zhu Xian came outside the courtyard, dug out two taro, cut them into small pieces and put them into a clay pot. "Qin Luo, bring the clay pot into the courtyard later."
"OK."
Qin Luo nodded with a smile.
Zhu Xian carried a bucket of hot water into the room to take a bath, while Qin Luo steamed the rice. Soon after, a rich aroma wafted from the clay pot, and the riverside courtyard was filled with the warmth of everyday life.
Qin Luo thought Zhu Xian was just playing in the mountains, but he didn't expect her to actually live there. He was quite impressed.
After taking a bath, Zhu Xian came to the courtyard. She was wearing a flowing red dress, her black hair cascading over her shoulders, and her brows held a heroic air. Her pretty face was stunning; if she were a man, she would surely captivate countless young women. Unfortunately, she was a woman.
