Chapter 16 Door God

"Hey, it's thundering."

Ziyue was washing clothes in the river. She frowned. Just a moment ago, the sky was clear and blue, but in the blink of an eye, dark clouds covered the area, and lightning crackled everywhere, as if even the sky itself had shattered.

"Damn it! Damn it!" Ziyue carried the wooden basin home, running as fast as the wind.

The mountaintop not far away.

Qin Luo gazed at the lightning in the sky.

Inside the jade pendant, the purple-haired fairy narrowed her beautiful eyes, sensing that a powerful god was crossing over.

"Summon the gods."

"This is getting more and more interesting."

The purple-haired fairy was full of curiosity about Qin Luo.

Inside the scene.

Wu Xuantian heard Qin Luo's summons.

A brand appeared between the brows of the golden skeleton, followed by a dazzling golden pillar of light that pierced the sky.

The sky shattered, and dazzling golden light descended from the heavens. A tall being clad in golden armor knelt before Qin Luo, holding a broadsword in his hand, and said respectfully, "Master!"

"My name is Qin Luo."

"You can just call me Lao Qin."

Qin Luo regarded Wu Xuantian as a friend.

"Master Qin!"

Wu Xuantian bowed and said.

"Get up, there's no need for such formalities in the future."

"Your humble servant obeys."

Wu Xuantian stood up. He was clad in golden armor, his eyes were resolute, he was tall and imposing, and his aura was extraordinary, like a god-king. Even though he was just a soul, he still carried a terrifying pressure.

In the distant village of Jinghu, both the local earth god and the dragon maiden of Jinghu frowned deeply. A terrifying creature had appeared in the Ziyun Mountains, a being that sent chills down their spines.

"Old Wu, can you be a little more discreet?"

"Haha, no problem."

Wu Xuantian concealed his aura.

The terrifying pressure that had enveloped the mountains disappeared.

Qin Luo's consciousness appeared in the jade pendant, "Senior, you shouldn't have any grudge against the gods, right?"

"Little one, all the gods who were my enemies are dead, so you don't need to worry about them." The purple-haired fairy shook her head and chuckled. Her voice was gentle, but her words were domineering.

"You're really amazing, senior."

"You're not bad either."

Qin Luo smiled, his intuition telling him that the purple-haired fairy was very strong, even stronger than Wu Xuantian.

The purple-haired fairy was currently in a weak state, and she was unable to see through Qin Luo's cultivation level. She was very curious about who his master was and why he could teach such an outstanding disciple.

There used to be many powerful creatures in the Purple Cloud Mountains, but the Purple-Haired Fairy did not see any of them after she came out.

She sensed something was wrong.

...

Not long after.

The Ziyun Mountains have returned to normal.

Qin Luo sat on the mountaintop basking in the sun, while Wu Xuantian stood beside him with his sword in hand. "Old Wu, I see you are exceptionally skilled in martial arts. Your status in the God Realm must have been quite high before, right?"

"It's not low, it's not high either. I'm responsible for guarding the Heavenly Gate and doing the dirty and tiring work." Wu Xuantian was very modest. Those who can guard the Heavenly Gate are the best among the gods.

"You seem to be in a very bad state right now."

Qin Luo could sense that Wu Xuantian was now outwardly strong but inwardly weak, far less powerful than when he was in the inner realm. His current state was even weaker than the remnant soul of the purple-haired fairy in the jade pendant.

"Master Qin, you're right. I expended too much energy when I crossed over to another realm, and now I have very little power left."

"Can you recover?"

“It’s difficult. I was originally a divine general guarding the Heavenly Gate. When the Heavenly Gate collapsed, I lost the source of my divine power.”

Wu Xuantian shook his head helplessly.

Qin Luo knew that the gods could absorb incense offerings, so he thought for a moment and asked, "Old Wu, would you be willing to be a door god?"

Without much thought, Wu Xuantian nodded and said, "Door gods can protect the lights of every household, which suits me quite well."

Qin Luo stood up. He was tall and slender, with a heroic air between his brows, a handsome face, and a clean smile.

Wu Xuantian, who had been smiling, suddenly froze. Looking at Qin Luo's serious expression, he realized that Qin Luo was not joking.

The mountaintop suddenly fell silent.

Qin Luo's eyes gleamed with golden light, exuding an overbearing arrogance that looked down upon all living beings. His aura suddenly surged, and his originally insignificant figure in the world became majestic. "Wu Xuantian, in the name of the Dao Ancestor, I hereby appoint you as the gatekeeper of the Ziyun Mountain Range, to protect the lights of every household in the Ziyun Mountain Range."

In an instant, Wu Xuantian once again sensed the presence of the Heavenly Dao, and he knelt before Qin Luo.

"Your subordinate obeys!"

Wu Xuantian bowed and expressed his gratitude.

He seemed to sense the presence of the Heavenly Emperor.

Inside the jade pendant, the purple-haired fairy remained silent. She thought Qin Luo was just talking, but she didn't expect it to be a real deification. Deification meant bearing immense karma, which not everyone could bear.

Throughout history, those who were conferred the title of gods were all beings who stood at the pinnacle of existence, yet none of them met a good end. Even the Dao Ancestor who suppressed the Three Realms in the past ultimately perished and his Dao dissipated.

The purple-haired fairy's gaze gradually turned serious.

Wu Xuantian had no physical body, but after becoming a door god, his soul became solid and his divine power began to recover.

"Old Wu, get up."

"Master Qin, thank you for your trust. I will do my duty to protect the people of Ziyun Mountain Range from now on."

Qin Luo nodded and smiled, "Old Wu, when I return to Longhu Temple, I'll help you spread the word."

"Thank you, Master Qin."

Wu Xuantian clasped his hands in a salute: "Master Qin, I will first familiarize myself with the people in the mountains. If you need anything, I will come at your beck and call."

"Go."

Qin Luo nodded with a smile.

Wu Xuantian transformed into golden light and disappeared into the distance.

Qin Luo's actions were not only to arrange a place for Wu Xuantian, but also to protect the people of the Ziyun Mountains. With the protection of the door gods, the people in the mountains would no longer have to worry about evil spirits.

"Aren't you afraid of the consequences of being deified?"

The gentle voice of the purple-haired fairy rang in his ears, and Qin Luo's consciousness appeared in the jade pendant. He smiled and explained, "Senior, my master said that he is in charge of the Purple Cloud Mountain Range, so I appointed Lao Wu as the gatekeeper of the Purple Cloud Mountain Range."
