Tiangan Institute.
A sunny afternoon.
Qin Luo used the Chengtian Sword to split the bamboo into strips.
The little dumpling was cutting thin paper with her scissors. She held up a piece of the cut paper and asked, "Big brother, how's this one?"
"Can."
Qin Luo nodded.
Old Gao wasn't idle either; he used the leftover rice to make a bowl of rice porridge.
Qin Luo made the frame for the wishing lantern using bamboo strips, then coated the bamboo strips with rice paste, and Xiao Tuanzi pasted thin pieces of paper onto the lantern frame one by one.
"Finish!"
The little dumpling stood proudly with its hands on its hips.
Although this wishing lantern isn't as pretty as the colorful ones on the street, it was made by everyone together, and Little Tuanzi likes it very much.
"Grandpa, have you ever released a wishing lantern?"
“I didn’t miss it. On the night of releasing the prayer lanterns, the capital was as bright as day. I will never forget that scene.”
The little girl's eyes were full of anticipation as she raised her head. "Grandpa, I'll make you a wishing lantern, and we'll release it together tonight."
"Thank you, little fairy."
Old Gao's eyes were filled with joy.
Qin Luo looked towards the corner of the courtyard wall, where the little black cat was hiding in the darkness watching them. He said softly, "Don't run around in the yard. I'm going out for a walk."
"Okay!"
The little dumpling nodded.
She was making the wishing lanterns with great care.
After Qin Luo left the courtyard, the little black cat emerged from the dark corner and examined the wishing lantern.
"You want a wishing lantern too?"
"Meow."
The little black cat nodded.
The little dumpling tilted its head and thought, "Then catch me two fish, no, three, and big fish."
"Meow!"
The little black cat turned and left the yard.
The streets of the capital were bustling with activity. Qin Luo looked at the laughing and chatting people and frowned, sensing that something bad was about to happen.
With so many fragments of the Heavenly Dao in the Great Xia Kingdom, it's impossible for Him not to come. Even though His strength is far from his peak, he is still beyond the reach of these cultivators.
Only through discussion can the battle be stopped.
Qin Luo strolled around the city, and when he returned to Tiangan Courtyard it was already evening. Little Tuanzi was grilling fish, and the courtyard was filled with its aroma.
"Boss, this fish is yours."
The little dumpling held up two golden-brown grilled fish.
Qin Luo took the grilled fish, squatted down, and handed the grilled fish to the little black cat hiding next to the little dumpling.
The little black cat looked wary, but it couldn't resist the temptation of the delicious food and went forward to eat the grilled fish.
While the little black cat was eating fish, Qin Luo reached out and stroked its head. The moment he touched it, his heart raced as he sensed the presence of the Heavenly Dao fragment.
The little black cat darted away with a whoosh.
Qin Luo discovered that the little black cat contained fragments of the Heavenly Dao, hidden extremely well. He looked at Lao Gao, who was gnawing on a grilled fish, and chuckled, "Lao Gao, you wouldn't happen to be an expert too, would you?"
Old Gao scratched his head, looking bewildered. "Daoist Master, I don't understand."
"I said you're very capable."
"I only know a little bit about martial arts."
Qin Luo put the leftover grilled fish on the ground. As soon as he stood up, the little black cat ran back, picked up the grilled fish, and ran into the darkness.
Night fell.
The Imperial Star has reappeared.
Qin Luo discovered that the Imperial Star was getting closer and closer to the capital, and its light was even brighter than the night before.
The little dumpling pointed at the Imperial Star, "Boss, can you pluck that star down and give it to me as a gift?"
Old Gao stared wide-eyed.
Qin Luo couldn't help but chuckle, "You wish! I can give you two chestnuts."
"hey-hey!"
"I don't want chestnuts!"
The little dumpling ran off to fiddle with her wishing lantern.
The hour of Xu (7-9 PM).
The city bells rang.
People began releasing prayer lanterns.
The little girl saw the wishing lanterns flying up in the yard, like slowly rising glittering stars. Her little face lit up with excitement as she said, "Big brother, grandpa, let's release the wishing lanterns quickly!"
Qin Luo lit the pine resin inside the prayer lamps, and the four lamps slowly rose into the air. In the blink of an eye, the entire capital was illuminated by the lights, and countless flames drove away the darkness. Even the light of the imperial star was overshadowed by the prayer lamps of the capital.
"Boss, make a wish!"
Qin Luo gazed at the bright lights and silently prayed, "May heaven and earth be well, and may all living beings be safe and sound."
The little dumpling placed its hands on its chest in prayer, "I hope that those who like me will be safe and sound and make a lot of money, and that those who don't like me will suffer great misfortune and bad luck."
Bang!
A crisp sound.
The little girl clutched her head, wincing in pain. "Boss, why did you hit me?"
"Figure it out yourself."
"oh!"
The little dumpling pouted.
The little black cat sat on the courtyard wall, its dark eyes reflecting the lights of the sky.
Wan'er entered the courtyard and said respectfully, "Master Qin, His Majesty invites you to the palace."
What about me? What about me?
The little dumpling looked on with anticipation.
Wan'er shook her head and said gently, "His Majesty only allowed me to invite Daoist Qin."
"Princess said she would invite me to the palace."
"Her Highness the Princess has not returned yet."
Qin Luo rubbed the little dumpling's head and said, "Go here and see whose wishing lantern flies the highest."
"It's definitely mine."
The little dumpling proudly raised its head.
Qin Luo followed Wan'er to the palace.
On the way to the palace, Qin Luo saw people releasing prayer lanterns in the streets, each with their own wishes. Children chased and played in the streets, their laughter filling the air.
The streets of the inner city were relatively quiet, but many prayer lanterns were lit in the courtyards of the inner city.
The area in front of the palace was unusually deserted.
Qin Luo was somewhat surprised, "The palace has no guards?"
