Chapter 195 A Different Kind of Underworld

Deep in the East China Sea.

The remains of a golden crow hang from the branches.

The sea was black, the sky was blood red, and a terrifying atmosphere permeated the surroundings, with only the sound of swirling eddies.

The old boatman stopped the ancient boat near the black whirlpool and said in a hoarse voice, "Many ghosts tremble when they come here and clamor to go back."

Qin Luo gazed into the abyss, his expression calm, and said softly, "I have killed many cultivators and demons, but their evil deeds are far less than yours. Yet I did not give them a chance to reincarnate. Do you think I did the right thing?"

The old boatman thought for a moment, then shook his head. "I can't judge whether you're right or wrong. If they had your strength, the evil they committed might not be any less than mine."

"Maybe."

Qin Luo bowed to the old man rowing the boat, saying, "I hope that when we meet again, you will have found the path to redemption."

"good!"

The old man rowing the boat said in a deep voice.

With a determined look in his eyes, Qin Luo jumped into the abyss.

A light appeared in the once pitch-black abyss. The old boatman looked at the increasingly dim light and said, "A thousand-year-old dark room can be illuminated by a single lamp. You have come too late."

Qin Luo's soul plummeted into the Black Abyss. In the Black Abyss, it was as if nothing existed. He was very familiar with this feeling; he had experienced it in the dilapidated temple.

Thinking of the dilapidated temple, Qin Luo thought of the girl named Yuanyuan, wondering if he could meet her in the underworld.

ah--

Painful howls echoed from the abyss.

Qin Luo knew it wasn't an illusion; the wails echoed in his ears, as if he were in purgatory.

A cacophony of desperate cries, pleas for help, and sobs mingled together, a mixture of resentment and regret, anger and fear. Qin Luo could sense their yearning for life.

The deeper you go into the abyss, the quieter it becomes.

Who am I?

"I can't be trapped here."

A whisper sounded in my ear; the voice was mournful.

After a long while, Qin Luo heard a clear laugh, the innocent laughter of a child. His eyes shone brightly. "I can hear children's laughter in the passage to the underworld. Could it be that there is a paradise in the underworld?"

A dazzling light appeared in the abyss.

The dense yin energy around him surged toward Qin Luo.

Boom!

A ball of fire fell into the azure lake.

Around the lake lived ordinary people, a group of women washing clothes by the lake, and children playing and frolicking by the lake. They watched as a blazing fire fell into the lake, followed by mist appearing on the lake's surface.

Qin Luo could feel the coldness of the lake water. He swam out of the lake and came to the lakeside, surrounded by mist.

"A ghost!"

Exclamations erupted from the lakeside.

Qin Luo looked at the fleeing people, then looked around and murmured softly, "Is this the underworld?"

This place is different from the underworld Qin Luo imagined. The yin energy here is extremely heavy, but there is no eerie or terrifying atmosphere. There are many plants emitting a faint light around, as well as colorful stones, and glowing creatures resembling butterflies in the sky.

Qin Luo saw the child who had fallen by the lake and walked towards him. The boy looked at Qin Luo and said in a fright, "Don't come any closer!"

"do not be afraid!"

I won't hurt you.

Qin Luo's voice was very gentle, and the child calmed down after hearing it, but continued to crawl backward.

"Xiao Tao, run!"

An anxious shout came from afar.

The child's legs trembled, and he could only crawl.

Qin Luo noticed that he was surrounded by mist. His body was filled with too much yang energy, and the leaked yang energy was like a scorching sun here. No wonder the people around him were afraid.

To avoid causing chaos, Qin Luo left the area and went to a mountaintop far from the village. The surrounding trees emitted dappled light and contained an extremely heavy yin energy.

"I have too much yang energy in my body."

To adapt to this environment, one must either absorb a large amount of yin energy or seal the yang energy within their body. Without much thought, Qin Luo chose to seal the yang energy within his body.

After Qin Luo sealed the yang energy in his soul, the mist around him disappeared.

Looking at the somewhat dreamlike world before him, Qin Luo murmured softly, "These beings are neither ghosts nor normal living people. What exactly are they?"

The feeling Qin Luo got here was very similar to that in the interior. The interior looked desolate, while this place was relatively lively.

Qin Luo walked towards the foot of the mountain, gradually adapting to the environment and feeling grounded.

Halfway up the mountain, Qin Luo saw a clay sculpture, a deity with a bird's beak, a human body, and black wings.

Qin Luo approached the clay sculpture, which trembled slightly. Then, a figure knelt before Qin Luo. The bird-beaked Yin God's eyes were filled with fear. He spoke tremblingly, "I was unaware of the arrival of the Great Immortal. I have failed to greet you properly. Please forgive me."

When Qin Luo arrived here, he caused quite a commotion. The Yin God in front of him was powerful, far stronger than the earth gods in the mortal world who were barely surviving. He had sensed this, but was afraid of Qin Luo's presence and dared not show himself. Now that Qin Luo had come near the clay sculpture, he was forced to reveal himself.

No need for formalities.

Qin Luo waved his hand.

The bird-beaked spirit was helped up.

"Is this the underworld? Why does it look like this?" Qin Luo asked, his eyes filled with doubt.

The bird-beaked Yin God bowed and said, "This is the Underworld. Because of a problem with the cycle of reincarnation, many Yin souls are stuck in the Underworld, causing chaos. In order to stop the chaos, the Human Emperor from Lieshan created a false cycle of reincarnation in the Underworld, turning the Yin souls into Yin spirits. These Yin spirits live in the Underworld, and they don't even know that they have been dead for a long time."

"I see."

Qin Luo suddenly realized, and he exclaimed, "No wonder he is the Human Emperor; even in the underworld, he still cares about the human race."

When Qin Luo went to Lieshan, he lit three incense sticks for the Human Emperor in the temple, asking, "Is the Human Emperor in the underworld?"
