Chapter 229 Leiyin Temple

Hua Ying continued, "If we are devout enough, will Buddha grant our prayers?"

The old monk nodded, "As long as you are devout enough and do as you please without overstepping the bounds, all your wishes will be granted."

"I hope so."

Hua Ying walked step by step toward Mount Ling.

At the foot of Mount Ling, an old monk in a golden robe sat cross-legged on a lotus platform. Seeing the flower shadow, she clasped her hands together, bowed, and said, "May I ask why you have come, benefactor?"

Hua Ying bowed slightly, and without beating around the bush, she said, "I want the elixir of immortality, so I came here specifically to visit you."

The old monk frowned slightly and said in a deep voice, "Benefactor, I'm sorry, the elixir of immortality is not given to outsiders."

Hua Ying remained calm. "Can you make that decision?"

The old monk shook his head. "No."

“You can go up the mountain and ask Master Zhinian, who is the abbot of Leiyin Temple.”

Hua Ying nodded.

The old monk watched as Hua Ying stepped onto Mount Ling, his brows furrowed, feeling a powerful sense of oppression.

Mount Ling has 100,000 steps. With each step, the pressure increases. The higher you go, the more desolate it becomes. Hua Ying walked slowly toward Leiyin Temple.

Hua Ying successfully reached the mountain peak and saw the magnificent Leiyin Temple. Upon entering the temple, she saw many prayer cushions on both sides of the main hall, filled with eminent monks and golden Arhats. Their faces were dignified, and they exuded a powerful aura.

A kind-faced old monk sat cross-legged before a magnificent golden Buddha statue, draped in a golden robe. Hua Ying bowed respectfully and said softly, "Senior, are you Master Zhi Nian?"

The old monk nodded kindly, "This humble monk is Zhi Nian. May I ask what brings you here, benefactor?"

Hua Ying answered truthfully, "I am Hua Ying, the Grand Preceptor of the Great Xia Dynasty. I have come to ask for the elixir of immortality. The Empress of Great Xia promised me that as long as Leiyin Temple gives me the elixir of immortality, she will allow Leiyin Temple to spread its teachings throughout the Great Xia Dynasty."

The surrounding monks exchanged glances and shook their heads, clearly disapproving of the deal.

Hua Ying narrowed her eyes slightly, and in an instant, the main hall of Leiyin Temple became quiet. Even the Arhats with extremely high cultivation levels had solemn expressions, as they sensed a terrifying aura.

Master Zhinian said with a kind expression, "If this humble monk does not agree, are you going to raze Mount Ling to the ground?"

Hua Ying remained calm. "We can discuss it."

Master Zhinian thought for a moment, then smiled and said, "If you are willing to enter the Thunder Sound Pagoda and receive the baptism of Buddhism, this humble monk is willing to give you the elixir of immortality."

"good!"

Hua Ying answered without hesitation.
