Chapter 246 Huaixian

"Xiao Luo."

"Come downstairs and eat quickly."

Hearing his mother's call, Qin Luo opened his eyes. His eyes brightened, and the world before him became clear. He could even see the fluttering wings of the butterflies outside the window.

After using meditation breathing, Qin Luo's spiritual power was enhanced. He got up and went downstairs. There were three dishes and a soup on the table: braised green vegetables, braised eggplant, shredded pork with green peppers, and tomato and egg soup. His family was not the richest in the village, but their life was definitely the best. Qin You and Xia Yan would rather suffer more themselves than let their siblings eat and dress well.

Xia Yan brought two bowls of rice to the table. The bowl she handed to Qin Luo was overflowing with rice.

Qin Luo couldn't help but swallow his saliva when he smelled the aroma of the food; he hadn't felt this way in a long time.

Seeing Qin Luo wolfing down his food, Xia Yan smiled and reminded him, "Xiao Luo, eat slowly, don't choke."

"Uh-huh."

Qin Luo nodded heavily.

Xia Yan held her bowl and ate her rice in small bites. "Xiao Luo, do you want to study in the city?"

My older sister, Qin Xi, is currently in her third year of junior high school. With her grades, she is good enough to get into a top high school in the city. Her parents want to rent a house in the city to send the two siblings to school and give them the best learning environment.

Qin Luo didn't answer. He was studying in the countryside, and his sister was a boarding student at the school, which was the easiest for Xia Yan. Maybe her father wouldn't have been under so much pressure, and he wouldn't have had a car accident.

Seeing that Qin Luo didn't speak, Xia Yan thought he was reluctant to leave. She blinked and said, "If you want to study in the city, Mom will buy you a bicycle."

Qin Luo no longer has an obsession with bicycles, but her older sister hopes that their mother can stay in the city to accompany her to study. Qin Luo cannot make the decision for her sister, nor does she want to put her mother in a difficult position.

"Whatever you say, I'll listen to you."

Qin Luo said with his head down.

After dinner, Xia Yan was washing the dishes in the kitchen when Qin Luo said crisply, "Mom, I'm full. I'm going out for a walk."

"Don't go playing in the river on such a hot day."

"I'll just wander around the village and be right back."

Qin Luo walked towards the big locust tree.

It was noon, and the village was quiet. Qin Luo came alone to the big locust tree. He gazed at the lush tree and could sense faint energy fluctuations.

Qin Luo reached out and touched the big locust tree. His divine sense probed into the tree, and inside the tree was a cloud of mist emitting a faint light, within which was a hazy figure.

"Are you the Locust Immortal?"

Qin Luo said calmly.

"I guess so."

A soft sound came from the mist.

Qin Luo's eyes narrowed slightly as he stared at the figure and questioned, "Why did you try to harm me?"

In that hazy mist, the figure of the Locust Immortal appeared and disappeared. He shook his head and smiled bitterly, "What do you think I can do with my current meager cultivation?"

Qin Luo noticed that Huai Xian was very weak and could hardly intervene in the outside world. "Why have you fallen to this state?"

Huai Xian shook his head and sighed softly, "With the arrival of the Dharma-ending Age, countless cultivators have suffered the backlash of heaven and earth. I severed my cultivation and took root here, thus narrowly escaping this calamity."

"All right."

Qin Luo nodded.

The Huai Xian before him was even weaker than the Mirror Lake Earth God that Qin Luo had encountered back then; indeed, he couldn't do anything.

The silhouette of the Immortal Huai, her robes fluttering, emerged from the mist. She gazed at Qin Luo and asked, "Who exactly are you?"

"I am who I am."

"You can walk through the river of time?!"

Qin Luo did not answer. He wanted to go home and visit his family, but for some reason, he had arrived at the wrong time.

"You want to change the future?"

Huai Xian felt that Qin Luo had a purpose in coming here.

Qin Luo frowned slightly. He had thought about it, but didn't want to create bigger consequences. "Can the future really be changed?"

Huai Xian said in a deep voice, "The future you can see is unchangeable unless you can kill the past."

"Kill the past..."

Qin Luo felt a chill run down his spine. If what Huai Xian said was true, the one who pushed him down might not have been someone else.

"Lolo, what are you doing?"

A loud voice startled Qin Luo awake.

Qin Luo turned around and saw a tall, thin old man carrying a hoe and wearing a straw hat. "Grandpa!"

A much gentler voice rang out, "Lolo, have you eaten?"

Qin Luo looked at the old woman carrying a bamboo basket next to her grandfather. She was wearing a floral dress and had a kind smile on her face. "Grandma, I've eaten. It's so sunny. You should rest at home and go to the mountains when it's cooler."

"Hahaha."

Grandpa Xia Jin said in a loud voice, "A day of reading brings a day of progress, a day without reading is ten days wasted. It's the same with farming. If you're lazy, the crops won't grow well."

Qin Luo's family originally owned several plots of land. Qin You was a long-distance truck driver, Xia Yan was at home doing cross-stitch, his grandfather was a blacksmith, and his grandmother prayed to Buddha every day. No one was farming these plots of land. His maternal grandfather felt it was a waste for the land to be left empty, so he told Qin You that he wanted to farm it and promised to give half of the harvest to Qin Luo's family. Qin You gave the land to his maternal grandfather for free, saying that he didn't need any compensation, as long as they could manage to farm it.

My maternal grandparents have to farm land for two families. They are working much harder than before, and they look much older.

Looking at his grandfather's dark face, Qin Luo's hazy memory of his grandfather's features became clear. His grandfather had left very early, and he remained forever on the land that had sustained his family.

“Grandpa, Uncle works in the city. He will have money in the future, so you won’t have to work so hard.”

When his uncle was mentioned, his grandfather was very proud. After all, he was one of the few college students in the village. "That's his money. We can't add to his burden."

Grandma Wu Lan nodded with a smile, "That's right, we can still move around now, we don't need him to take care of us."
