Chapter 26 County Commandant Cao Mang

Sunset Peak, Dragon and Tiger Temple.

In the backyard of the Taoist temple, Qin Luo cleaned up the room where clutter was piled up. The room was empty. He went to the mountains to cut down trees, preparing to make a simple wooden bed for the little monkey.

There were originally two wooden beds in the room. Last winter, the two senior brothers who lived here dismantled the wooden beds because of the cold weather and did not want to go out to chop firewood. When Zhang Fulong found out, he expelled them from Longhu Temple.

If we don't drive them away...

They will demolish Longhu Temple sooner or later.

The autumn air was crisp and the sun was shining brightly. Jin Yan returned to Longhu Temple, where Qin Luo had just finished assembling the simple wooden bed.

"Junior brother, you will be staying in this room from now on. If you need any daily necessities, just let me know."

"Thank you, Senior Brother!"

Jin Yan's eyes shone.

His senior brother brought him a warmth he had never experienced before.

Qin Luo put his arm around Jin Yan's shoulder and smiled gently, "Let's go, I'll take you to pay your respects to the ancestral master."

"Uh-huh."

Jin Yan nodded repeatedly.

They arrived at the main hall of the Taoist temple.

Tables were placed on both sides of the main hall. Ziyue sat at the table on the left and carefully drew talismans.

Cultivation at Longhu Temple relies entirely on self-discipline. Even if you don't want to cultivate, Zhang Fulong won't say anything. Qin Luo felt that his previous senior brothers were too lazy, which is why they accomplished nothing.

Qin Luo led Jin Yan to the portrait of the Dao Ancestor, then lit three incense sticks and handed them to Jin Yan.

Jin Yan held three incense sticks, the hall filled with swirling smoke. He knelt before the portrait of the Dao Ancestor and said respectfully, "Disciple Jin Yan pays respects to the Ancestral Master."

After placing the lit incense into the incense burner, Jin Yan kowtowed heavily, the clear sound of which could be heard even outside the hall.

His sincerity is evident.

A gentle breeze brushed over the little monkey's head.

It felt like being touched on the head by an immortal.

Jin Yan looked up at the Dao Ancestor.

"Junior brother, come with me."

Qin Luo sat down next to Zi Yue, picked up a pen, dipped it in ink, and began to draw on the white paper.

Jin Yan stared intently at the painting. Zi Yue looked up, thinking that her senior brother had painted a door god, but it wasn't. Qin Luo had painted a landscape painting.

The landscape painting looks quite ordinary.

This is the scene Qin Luo saw while meditating. Previously, when Zi Yue was cultivating, she could not meditate on any scenes, so he decided to draw the scenes of his meditation.

I hope this can help them with their cultivation.

“Junior brother, our Dragon Tiger Temple mainly relies on meditation for cultivation. The great path is simple, and enlightenment comes naturally. When you have free time, you can observe this picture more often and meditate on it in your mind. It may help your cultivation.”

"Okay, senior brother."

Jin Yan stared intently at the landscape painting.

Zi Yue blinked. "Senior brother, can I see?"

"sure."

"The main thing is to meditate on this picture in your mind."

Qin Luo wasn't sure if his actions would be effective, but the purple-haired fairy inside the jade pendant squinted and murmured softly, "This visualization diagram is interesting!"

Jin Yan and Zi Yue gazed at the landscape painting, and each time they looked away, they quickly forgot about it.

"It's so hard, I can't remember it at all."

Jin Yan scratched his head. After accidentally eating the strange fruit, he had gained the ability to remember everything he saw, but he couldn't remember this seemingly simple landscape painting. He thought to himself that cultivating immortality was indeed very difficult.

Zi Yue relaxed her brows and smiled slightly. "Hehe, I thought I was the only one who couldn't remember."

"No rush."

"Welcome the pilgrims first."

Qin Luo heard footsteps coming from outside the Taoist temple.

A burly man dressed in official robes entered the Taoist temple. He had a large, sheathed sword hanging at his waist. He was broad-shouldered and thick-waisted, with eyes as big as copper bells, glaring wide, exuding an imposing aura without being angry.

Ziyue and Jinyan followed Qin Luo to the outside of the hall. Ziyue was a little scared when she saw the burly man, but Jinyan was not scared. After all, he had followed the Demon King before and had seen the world.

Qin Luo remained calm. "Esteemed benefactor, are you here to offer incense and pray for blessings, or to visit my master?"

"I am Cao Mang, the county magistrate, and I have come to invite Master Zhang to the county office on the orders of the county magistrate."

The county constable held a high position in the county government, and the fact that he personally came to Longhu Temple to invite Zhang Fulong shows how much the county magistrate valued him.

Cao Mang was somewhat surprised when he saw the golden flames behind Qin Luo. He hadn't expected that there would be a demon monkey at Longhu Temple.

He had initially thought that Longhu Temple was a charlatan, but seeing Jin Yan dressed in a Taoist robe, and the fact that there was a demon monkey cultivating immortality in the temple, he realized that this might actually be a hidden sect.

Qin Luo looked at his junior sister, Zi Yue, who understood immediately. She ran deep into the Taoist temple to inform Zhang Fulong.

Cao Mang, as a county magistrate, was well-informed and had practiced martial arts for many years, even slaying monsters. He wasn't surprised to see Jin Yan. "Immortal Master, is he also a disciple of the Dragon Tiger Temple?"

Qin Luo nodded and said softly, "That's right, his name is Jin Yan, and he is a disciple that my master just accepted."

Cao Mang sensed that Longhu Temple might be more than it seemed.

Deep within the Taoist temple.

When Zhang Fulong heard that the magistrate wanted to see him, he immediately frowned. If he gave himself away, he would be arrested and thrown into jail on the spot. "Tell County Lieutenant Cao that I am currently in seclusion and will visit the magistrate at the county office when I have time."

"knew."

Purple Moon walks on the wind.

She led the breeze back to the main hall.

“County Magistrate Cao, my master is currently in seclusion and cannot come to visit the county magistrate at the moment. He will visit the county magistrate at the county office later.”

"Tell Master Zhang that the magistrate has something very important to discuss with him, and it cannot be delayed." Cao Mang said solemnly.

Qin Luo smiled and nodded, then said softly, "I will pass on your message to my master. Is there anything else, benefactor?"

Cao Mang had a resolute face and fierce eyes. He cupped his hands in greeting and said, "Everyone calls me Cao the Three-Knife. Few in the martial world can withstand three of my blows. I've heard that the Immortal Master of Longhu Temple is very powerful. I wonder if the Immortal Master dares to withstand three of my blows?"
