early morning.
The clouds and mist in the mountains have not yet dissipated.
Modao Peak is a steep mountain with a dilapidated mountain god temple halfway up its slopes.
Xuanqing ran ahead and pushed open the door of the mountain god temple. The temple was covered with cobwebs and the ground was covered with dust. There was a large, pale yellow stone on the high platform. On the altar were broken empty bowls and an empty incense burner. There was a blackened brazier under the table. Everything was very simple.
Qin Luo and Hua Ying entered the temple.
A wisp of mist drifted out from the yellow stone and transformed into an old man dressed in yellow. He had white hair and a youthful face, and was not tall. He bowed respectfully and spoke in a trembling voice, "This humble god's cultivation is low, and I have failed to greet you properly. Please forgive me, great immortals."
Qin Luo smiled and said, "Senior, there's no need for such formality. We just happened to be passing by, so we came to take a look."
The old mountain god bowed his head and said, "I am ashamed to say that my small temple is too humble to entertain you great immortals. I am truly sorry."
Qin Luo looked at him with respect and cupped his hands, saying, "I have seen many mountain gods and local deities. Some of them have no bottom line in order to obtain incense offerings and even do things that are against heaven and reason. Although you have not received much incense offering here, you still protect the territory and keep the people safe. I admire you very much."
Qinglian Village is located deep in the Qingyun Mountains. The people here can live and work in peace and contentment because of the protection of the mountain god.
Xuanqing bowed respectfully with his hands clasped.
The old mountain god smiled and explained, "Many years ago, I was originally a strange stone on the mountaintop absorbing the essence of the sun and moon. I thought I could attain immortality, but a powerful being passing by severed my foundation. If it weren't for the local people worshipping me, I would have long since vanished into the world. As long as I live, I will never forget this kindness."
Hua Ying said in a cold voice, "Countryside false gods are like rootless duckweed. Would you be willing to become the mountain god of the Great Xia Dynasty?"
The old mountain god was taken aback at first, then knelt down with a thud and said excitedly, "This humble god Huang Ling is willing."
Hua Ying raised her hand, her fingertips gleaming with golden light. She used her fingers as a pen to write a golden decree, and said in a majestic voice, "As the Grand Preceptor of the Great Xia Dynasty, I hereby confer upon Huang Ling the title of Mountain God of the Great Xia Dynasty, responsible for managing the area within a hundred miles."
When the old mountain god received the decree, the official robes of the Great Xia Dynasty appeared on his body, and his divine power suddenly increased.
Xuanqing calmly chewed on the spirit stone.
Hua Ying raised her hand, and the old mountain god was lifted up by an invisible force. "Now you not only possess the fortune of the Great Xia Dynasty, but you can also absorb the incense offerings from the nearby people. You will take care of the people within a hundred miles. In the future, cultivators from the Imperial Observatory will come here to inspect regularly."
"Thank you very much, Your Excellency!"
The old mountain god bowed again in respect.
Hua Ying said softly, "We stayed overnight at Wang Xiulan's house in Qinglian Village last night. Please take care of them."
"Okay, okay."
The old mountain god nodded repeatedly.
Hua Ying knew that Qin Luo was kind-hearted, so she asked the old mountain god to take care of Wang Xiulan's family, which was considered as helping him take on the karma.
After leaving Modao Peak, Qin Luo and his group headed towards the outer edge of the Qingyun Mountains. Hua Ying cleared paths through the mountains and built bridges over the rivers, providing convenience for the people living in the mountains.
Xuanqing hummed a little tune and ran ahead, while Qin Luo and Huaying strolled slowly behind. The woods were dappled with light and shadow, wildflowers were in full bloom, and birds were singing.
After walking for dozens of miles, the emerald green willow branches swayed in the wind. Qin Luo got tired and sat down to rest under a willow tree. The sun was blazing, but the breeze under the tree brought a touch of coolness.
Xuanqing took out two spirit stones from his pocket and grinned, "Big brother, here you go."
Qin Luo rubbed his head and shook his head with a smile, "You eat it, I can't chew this."
Xuanqing then handed the spirit stone to Huaying, "Fairy sister, would you like some?"
Hua Ying took the spirit stone, took out a bowl, refined the spirit stone into golden spirit liquid, and then handed it to Qin Luo.
"Fairy sister is amazing!"
Xuanqing's eyes were filled with awe.
Qin Luo picked up the bowl, took a sip, and immediately felt refreshed. The feeling of fatigue quickly dissipated, and a lot of spiritual matter dissipated into the world through his body. "It would be a waste for me to drink it all. Little guy, you drink it."
Xuanqing looked at Huaying, and only when he saw Huaying nod did he dare to reach out and take it. "Thank you, elder brother."
After a short rest, Qin Luo and his group set off again. Day and night passed, and after a few days, they left the Qingyun Mountains and arrived at Longcha Town.
The sun was high in the sky, it was getting late, and the streets were relatively quiet, with many vendors having packed up their stalls.
"Dragon beard candy, delicious and not too sweet dragon beard candy, kid, would you like some?"
"Huh? Dragon's beard candy?"
Xuanqing tilted his head and asked.
The way he turned his head was a bit exaggerated, which startled the middle-aged vendor, who unconsciously took a step back. Qin Luo smiled and explained, "It's dragon whiskers made of sugar, not sugar made of dragon whiskers."
"You scared me."
Xuanqing snapped out of his daze and looked at the dragon beard candy on the stall. It did indeed look like golden dragon whiskers. He grinned and said, "I want to try some."
The middle-aged stall owner took out a scale, grabbed a handful of dragon beard candy, weighed it several times, then quickly packed it up, his smile sly and cunning like a weasel. "Ten coins."
Xuanqing scratched his head and looked at Qin Luo and Hua Ying, only to find that they had already walked far away. He said awkwardly, "Never mind, I don't want it anymore."
"No, it's all wrapped up. How can you just throw it away like that? How am I supposed to sell it for money?" The middle-aged stall owner said, his face darkening and his voice rising considerably.
Xuan Qing took out a dragon bloodstone from his pocket. "How about I trade you this?"
The dragon blood stone resembled a large red gemstone. Upon seeing it, the middle-aged stall owner nodded repeatedly, took the dragon blood stone, and immediately hid it in his pocket, muttering to himself, "Don't tell your parents, just say that this candy is a gift from me."
Xuanqing grabbed the dragon beard candy and chased after Qin Luo and Hua Ying, while the middle-aged stall owner hurriedly packed up and left.
