Chapter 290 Meeting but Not Recognizing Each Other

Seeing these hardworking and simple old men, Qin Luo would think of his grandfather. He had been blacksmithing for most of his life, only being forced to rest when he could no longer lift the hammer. Now he is still busy growing vegetables in the village. His old house in his hometown has been demolished, but the blacksmith shop is still there. His grandfather once told him that if he did not study hard, he should go back to blacksmithing and the blacksmith shop would be left for him.

Hua Ying smiled and said softly, "Grandpa, may I use your kitchen?"

Zheng Danian naturally understood what Hua Ying meant, "You are guests, how can we let you cook?"

"Mr. Zheng, please don't treat us like guests, treat us like family."

"Okay, okay."

Zheng Danian felt particularly comfortable listening to Qin Luo speak, and he nodded repeatedly, "How about this, you guys cook, I'm quite good at killing chickens and fish, I'll go kill the chicken."

Raising a chicken isn't easy, and Qin Luo wanted to dissuade him, but Zheng Danian was in a good mood, so he couldn't stop him.

The courtyard suddenly became lively.

Hua Ying was cooking in the kitchen, Qin Luo was tending the fire, Xiao Die was washing vegetables, and Xuan Qing was helping Zheng Danian catch a black-boned chicken.

At noon, under the osmanthus tree.

Zheng Danian dug out a jar of wine buried underground and said with emotion, "This jar of wine was buried the year the Taoist priest came. It must have been ten years ago."

"I've got it."

Qin Luo nodded.

Zheng Danian sighed, "Daoist, you were all alone back then, and now your children are all grown up. What a lively family you have!"

Xuanqing and Xiaodie smiled at each other. Huaying's pretty face was gentle. She never explained these things, and Qin Luo was too lazy to explain either. "Old Zheng, I'd like to toast you."

"Taoist Master, please!"

Zheng Danian happily raised his wine glass.

The table was laden with dishes. Xuanqing ate braised chicken legs and ate his rice with gusto, while Huaying and Xiaodie ate slowly and deliberately. Qinluo and Zheng Danian mainly drank alcohol.

"This dish is better cooked than my wife's."

"Mr. Zheng, you flatter me."

Zheng Danian was overjoyed to see Qin Luo. He drank a lot of wine with Qin Luo and expressed his gratitude. Back then, Qin Luo not only helped with rice planting but also cured Jiang Chunlan's leg.

"Master, please listen to me..."

Zheng Danian got drunk, and Qin Luo took him back to his room to rest. Before leaving, he left a talisman on the eaves. Hua Ying placed a tea cake on the table, Xuan Qing crushed a dragon blood stone and put it into the well, and Xiao Die cleaned the room, making the originally dim room bright.

In the evening.

Zheng Danian woke up from his sleep and looked at the clean house, somewhat unable to believe that this was his home.

With his home completely renovated, Zheng Danian wasn't worried about losing anything, as there was nothing of value in the house anyway. He was filled with gratitude. He saw the tea cake on the table, picked it up and smelled it. "It smells so good! I've never had such good tea before. I have to try it."

Zheng Danian went outside the kitchen and drew a pot of water from the well, intending to use it to make tea.

The sun is setting.

Qin Luo looked at the village not far away.

There was a girl in the village named Xiaofang.

"......"

Hua Ying rolled her eyes at him.

Qin Luo chuckled and said, "They're probably all married by now."

"I won't be jealous."

"I know."

Qin Luo and his group entered the village.

Smoke curled from the village chimneys as villagers returned home from their work in the mountains. Qin Luo spotted a familiar figure under a large tree in the village: an old man with white hair playing with two little boys.

The white-haired old man saw Qin Luo but didn't recognize him, while Qin Luo immediately recognized him as Zhou Fang's grandfather, presumably the two were Zhou Fang's children.

Qin Luo smiled at the white-haired old man.

Although the white-haired old man didn't know what was going on, he smiled when he saw Qin Luo smiling.

Qin Luo didn't tell the white-haired old man about the mountain god's wedding. It was normal for the old man to be forgetful, and he didn't care. Xuan Qing was giving away wild fruit in the village and successfully delivered several bunches.
