Jinghu Academy.
Looking at Lin Jia'er, who didn't want to study, Zi Yue said with a smile, "Don't say you're afraid of studying. When I was little, if I had met Sister Linglong, I wouldn't have dared to study either. My aunt is very stupid. Fortunately, your Uncle Qin is patient with me."
The little dumpling nodded in agreement, "Hehe, I know the Thousand Character Classic, which was taught by the eldest brother. But reading and teaching are different. I used to substitute for Sister Linglong's classes, and I saw that they couldn't understand them, so I could only take them to slack off."
"Let's go catch some fish."
Qin Luo led them away from Mirror Lake Academy.
In the stream upstream of Mirror Lake, the water flows gently, just reaching Qin Luo's ankles.
Qin Luo sat on a white stone by the stream, watching the little ones catching fish in the water. The gentle breeze was refreshing, and he felt extremely comfortable in this leisurely time.
The little dumpling held up a tiny rockfish, her face beaming. "Little Jia'er, look!"
"Wow!"
"The Great Protector is truly amazing!"
Lin Jia'er's eyes were filled with admiration.
The little dumpling threw the rockfish she was holding back into the water and grinned, saying, "This little fish isn't even enough to fill our teeth. I'll catch you a big fish later."
"I want to catch a big fish too."
Lin Jia'er bent over, searching for fish.
Xuanqing carefully moved the stones and found a small crab, about the size of a fingernail, which he easily pinched with two fingers. "Look, I caught a crab."
"Hahaha, not even enough to fill a tooth gap!"
"Hehe, it is a bit small."
"sharp!"
Zi Yue gave Xuan Qing a thumbs up.
Xuanqing was overjoyed when he saw it.
"Sister Ziyue, this is for you."
"Thanks."
"Your smile is just like that of a fairy."
"Is there?"
Xuan Qing nodded heavily.
Zi Yue didn't mind. She took the little crab in her hand to Qin Luo's side and chuckled, "Senior brother, they are really good. I used to always come back empty-handed when I tried to catch fish."
That's because you're kind.
Qin Luo joked with a smile.
"Senior brother, what you said makes me blush."
Ziyue put the little crab in her hand back into the stream.
Qin Luo smiled slightly, "Junior Sister, the most important thing in cultivation is to temper your Dao heart. No matter what happens in the future, you must be firm in your Dao heart and never doubt yourself."
Zi Yue pursed her lips and looked at Qin Luo. "Senior brother, I'm stupid. I don't understand what the Dao Heart is yet."
"It's the logic you believe in."
"I see."
Ziyue seemed to understand, but not quite.
“It’s boring to just watch them play. Let’s stack stones and see who can stack the highest.”
"OK."
Ziyue smiled.
Qin Luo and Zi Yue picked up stones from the water and stacked them on the bank of the stream, making the stack higher and higher.
Time passed quickly, and two stone pillars stood by the stream, Qin Luo's pillar being slightly taller than Zi Yue's.
The little dumpling ran over and complained, "Boss, there are no big fish in this stream. Let's go somewhere else."
Qin Luo brought them here on purpose.
Lin Jia'er ran over, her harvest plentiful. "Uncle Qin, look how many snails I caught!"
"This is a snail, not a snail."
"Snails?"
Qin Luo nodded with a smile.
Seeing the snails Lin Jia'er had picked, which were quite large, Qin Luo chuckled and said, "Little dumpling, go pick some snails, and we can have them as appetizers for tonight's gathering."
"These snails don't have much meat, but they're pretty good as a snack with drinks." The little dumpling's eyes lit up, and dimples appeared on her lips as she smiled. "Come on, I'll take you to collect snails."
"Uncle Qin, here are some snails for you!"
Lin Jia'er handed the snails to Qin Luo, then turned around and followed the little dumpling to continue picking snails in the river.
Xuanqing and Xiaodie both squatted down to pick up snails.
Qin Luo looked at Zi Yue and said with a smile, "I'll have to trouble you to deal with these snails later, Auntie."
Zi Yue took out a bamboo basket from her storage bag, smiled and nodded, "Senior brother, I'll go help them pick snails."
Qin Luo looked at them; Zi Yue and the others were still comparing whose snails were the biggest, and laughter echoed in the stream.
The little dumpling shouted, "There are lots of snails here, come and pick them up!"
"My snails are big, come over here," Zi Yue said with a smile. Lin Jia'er ran back and forth in the stream, busy and happy, smiling from ear to ear.
Qin Luo continued stacking stones by the stream. The stone pillars were very thin and swayed in the wind, but they didn't fall over.
Soon, Ziyue and the others had collected a bamboo basket full of snails. She raised an eyebrow and said crisply, "Senior brother, I'll take the snails to Mirror Lake Academy to process them first. You take them to play."
"Junior sister, thank you for your hard work."
"It's not hard work."
The purple moon flew away like the wind.
Qin Luo looked at the little dumpling and the others with a smile and said, "Let's go, I'll take you to pick fruit."
"Yay!"
The little dumpling couldn't stop smiling.
Lin Jia'er's sleeves and trouser legs were wet. She was barefoot and carrying a pair of worn-out cloth shoes. Qin Luo bent down and said softly, "Come on, let Uncle Qin hug you."
"Thank you, Uncle Qin."
Lin Jia'er beamed with joy.
Qin Luo carried her and walked deeper into the mountains.
The roads deep in the mountains were smoother than before; Xiongshan's road-building efforts had been quite effective. A large black donkey pulled a long wooden cart loaded with wine, humming a song, "The horse herder in the west is a donkey~ a donkey~"
"Old Ma!"
The little dumpling ran over.
"Oh my, what a coincidence, Great Protector."
Ma Hu looked at Qin Luo behind the little dumpling and immediately became nervous, lowering his head and saying, "This humble god greets the great immortal."
Lin Jia'er's eyes widened. "The donkey is talking?"
