Jinghu Academy.
Linglong brought Lin Jiaer to the cafeteria.
It was getting late, and the cafeteria was relatively quiet. Little Tuanzi and Xuanqing were playing with roly-poly toys on the table. Lin Jia'er saw them and immediately smiled, but she didn't dare to greet them.
The little dumplings put away their roly-poly toys and pretended to be well-behaved in front of Linglong, sitting obediently.
Lin Jia'er thought they were also afraid of Linglong.
Su Rong brought food to Lin Jia'er.
"Thank you, Grandma."
"Little Jia'er, you're such a good girl."
After Su Rong left, Linglong said calmly, "Don't be picky about food, don't waste food. After you finish eating, go home and do your homework. I will call you to the blackboard tomorrow to recite what you learned today."
"Oh, oh." Lin Jia'er was on the verge of tears, wishing that Uncle Qin was by her side.
After finishing their meal, Lin Jia'er, carrying a white shoulder bag, left with Xiao Tuanzi and the others. As soon as they stepped out of Jinghu Academy, Lin Jia'er's cheerful laughter echoed through the mountains.
The little dumpling handed Lin Jia'er a string of candied hawthorns. She blinked and praised, "Jia'er, you're amazing! You didn't even cry. I've seen many children who just entered the academy cry because of Sister Linglong."
Hearing the little dumpling's praise, Lin Jia'er raised an eyebrow and said proudly, "Great Protector, someone was scared to death by Teacher Linglong today, but I'm not afraid!"
The little dumpling looked at Xiaodie and winked at her, "Xiaodie, are you afraid of Sister Linglong?"
"I'm scared!"
Xiaodie smiled sweetly.
"Don't be afraid, Sister Xiaodie, I'll protect you!"
Lin Jia'er said with her head held high and chest out.
"Uh-huh."
Xiaodie covered her mouth and chuckled softly.
Xuanqing took out a piece of dragon bloodstone. "Jia'er, this dragon bloodstone is a gift for you."
"Wow, so beautiful!" Lin Jia'er couldn't stop smiling as she held the candied hawthorn and the dragon blood stone.
The little dumpling raised an eyebrow and said with bright eyes, "I recently discovered a really fun place. I'll take you there when you have your holiday in a couple of days."
"Okay, okay!"
Lin Jia'er's eyes were filled with anticipation.
...
Sunset Peak, Dragon and Tiger Temple.
Lin Jia'er and Xiao Tuanzi returned to Longhu Temple. They chatted about interesting things that happened at the academy, laughing and talking all the way.
Qin Luo looked at the little girl who had just returned and asked softly, "Jia'er, do you like Mirror Lake Academy?"
Lin Jia'er thought for a moment. Apart from Linglong, she liked them all, but she couldn't say it. She said crisply, "Uncle Qin, I like Mirror Lake Academy. I'm going to do my homework now!"
Go!
Qin Luo nodded with a smile.
Lin Jia'er and Xiao Die sat at the stone table doing their homework. They had to write each of the characters they learned today ten times.
Xiao Tuanzi and Xuan Qing sat quietly in the backyard reading. Xiao Tuanzi was reading a comic book, covering her mouth and trying not to laugh out loud, while Xuan Qing was reading the Book of Poetry that Qin Luo had brought back.
Jin Yan was meditating.
Caixia practiced boxing with Qin Luo.
Zi Yue sat cross-legged on the Taoist platform, cultivating.
A little black cat lay lazily on the courtyard wall.
The Taoist temple was very quiet. After waking up, Zhang Fulong went to the backyard of the temple and quietly went to the kitchen to drink a bowl of porridge.
Lin Jia'er gripped the charcoal pencil tightly as she wrote her homework on scrap paper. She wrote very slowly, and Xiao Die deliberately slowed down as well. As the afterglow faded, the Taoist temple gradually darkened.
Halfway through writing, Lin Jia'er looked up at Xiao Die and asked in confusion, "Sister Xiao Die, should we write down the characters we learned in tutoring?"
Xiaodie recalled the homework Linglong had assigned, "Teacher Linglong said that we should write the characters we learned today ten times. Shouldn't we do that? I'm not sure."
Lin Jia'er remained blankly focused for a long time. Finally, she rubbed her eyes. She was already so tired after writing those four characters ten times. Thinking about the sixteen characters she had learned in tutoring, she felt a sudden sense of despair.
Seeing that Lin Jia'er was about to cry, Qin Luo said softly, "Write as much as you can, and rest when you get tired."
"No, Teacher Linglong said that if homework isn't finished, the hands will be slapped and the parents will be called in!"
"You'll call him Uncle Qin then."
"don't want."
Lin Jia'er continued writing with tears in her eyes.
Qin Luo said seriously, "It's alright, she will still give Uncle Qin face."
"I don't want to!"
Lin Jia'er shook her head repeatedly.
She didn't want to be singled out for criticism tomorrow.
Qin Luo smiled slightly, brought over a lamp, and said with a smile, "No rush, Uncle Qin will help you write."
Lin Jia'er rubbed her eyes while doing her homework. At the Lin family home in Yongfeng Town, Lin Xuan and Yao Shuang stood by the water vat. They couldn't help but laugh when they saw this scene.
It was late at night. After Lin Jia'er finished writing all the words, her hand was sore, so she just lay down on the table and fell asleep.
Qin Luo and the others laughed.
The backyard of the Taoist temple became lively.
Xiaodie put Jia'er's homework into her white handbag, Ziyue washed Jia'er's hands and face, and took her back to her room to sleep.
The next day, early morning.
Lin Jia'er and Xiao Die went to school with Qin Luo. The fog in the mountains was very thick, and the leaves were covered with white frost.
"Uncle Qin, when do we get our holiday?"
“Jinghu Academy has a one-day holiday every five days and a two-day monthly holiday, so there are only three days left before the holiday.”
Lin Jia'er counted the days until the holiday, her eyes filled with anticipation as she thought about how there were only three days left until the holiday.
Before class, Linglong checked Lin Jiaer's homework and was surprised to see that she had written the words from the tutoring session ten times. She then chuckled and said, "I didn't ask you to copy the words from the beginning, but your attitude is good and deserves encouragement."
Lin Jia'er scratched her head.
Receiving Linglong's praise, Lin Jia'er beamed with joy, feeling that all her efforts last night had been worthwhile.
...
In the blink of an eye, half a month has passed.
Lin Jia'er gradually adapted to life at Jinghu Academy. She made many new friends at school and learned to throw beanbags, spin tops, and play hopscotch. Xiao Tuanzi and Xuan Qing would pick her up every day, bring her snacks, and tell her stories. During holidays, they would take her on mountain patrols, fishing, and skipping stones.
