Chapter 38 Standoff between County Government Offices

The walls of Jinyang City are very high, built of hard brass stone, like a crouching giant beast.

"The city gate tower is so tall!"

Zi Yue gazed at the towering city gate and said, "Senior brother, I've heard that the city gate of the Great Xia capital is even taller than a mountain."

"I wonder if it's as tall as Sunset Peak."

"You'll see when you go and see for yourself."

Qin Luo happened to be thinking of going to the capital.

A group of fully armed yamen runners approached.

Zhou Dapeng rode his horse out of the city. When he saw Qin Luo, he was so startled that he fell off his horse.

He crawled and knelt before Qin Luo, a fawning smile on his face, "Immortal Master, what brings you to Jinyang City?"

"Come and take a look."

Qin Luo looked at the numerous constables behind Zhou Dapeng and asked, "What are you planning to do with so many constables?"

Zhou Dapeng dared not hide the truth, "Immortal Master, His Highness the Crown Prince wants the people of Chenjiagou to move away, but the people of Chenjiagou are unwilling to move, so I have no choice but to use this method."

"You must have arrested quite a few people recently?"

Qin Luo's eyes gleamed with a sharp light.

Zhou Dapeng dared not look up. He knelt on the ground and said respectfully, "Immortal Master, I was forced into this. If I disobey His Highness's decree, I will surely die."

"Hmph, lackey!"

Zi Yue pouted.

Zhou Dapeng shuddered in fright.

Qin Luo knew he was a fence-sitter and there was no point in arguing with him, so he said in a serious tone, "Release the innocent people in the prison and compensate them."

"no problem."

"Cao Mang, did you hear me?"

"I will take care of it immediately."

Qin Luo smiled and said softly, "No rush, we're going to the county government office anyway, let's go together."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Dapeng broke out in a cold sweat. Zhu Chi was in the county government office, and Qin Luo's purpose in going there was self-evident. If something happened to Zhu Chi in his jurisdiction, the trouble would be immense.

"Immortal Master, we can talk things over."

"I don't like fighting and killing. It's best if we can discuss things." Qin Luo said with a kind smile.

Qin Luo and Zi Yue entered Jinyang City.

The streets were bustling.

The streets were lined with vendors.

Zi Yue looked around and exclaimed, "Jinyang City is so big! The streets are several times wider than those in Baiyun Town!"

"Selling candied hawthorns, both sour and sweet candied hawthorns!" A middle-aged vendor called out as he carried a wooden frame on the street.

Zi Yue's eyes lit up, and she ran up to ask, "Uncle, how much are the candied hawthorns?"

The middle-aged vendor replied with a smile, "Little fairy, candied hawthorns are two coins a skewer, or three coins for two skewers."

Zi Yue frowned. In Baiyun Town, three skewers of candied hawthorn cost two coins, but they were so much more expensive in the city.

"Sorry to bother you."

Ziyue didn't want to spend more money.

A middle-aged vendor took a string of candied hawthorns from the wooden rack. "Little fairy, if you don't have any money, I'll give you a string."

When questioned about her lack of money, Ziyue gritted her teeth and pulled out three copper coins. "I have money, give me two strings."

"Okay!"

"Thank you for patronizing my business, little fairy."

The middle-aged vendor smiled and accepted the three copper coins.

Zi Yue held the two strings of candied hawthorns but couldn't be happy. "Senior brother, this string of candied hawthorns is for you."

"I don't like eating sweets."

Qin Luo politely declined, feeling it was strange for someone his age to eat candied hawthorns.

"Then I'll take it back to my junior brother."

Ziyue put away the string of candied hawthorns, took the candied hawthorns and bit off the sugar coating, quickly putting her troubles behind her.

County government office.

The surroundings were deserted.

No ordinary people pass through this street.

Standing outside the gate were the iron guards of the Prince of Zhenbei's mansion. They were all martial artists who had cultivated for many years, far superior to the yamen runners.

As Qin Luo and Zi Yue approached the county government office, two guards stepped forward and questioned them, "Who are you?"

"Longhu Temple, Qin Luo."

"Dragon and Tiger Temple, Purple Moon".

Qin Luo remained calm. Zi Yue held half a string of candied hawthorns in her hand. The little dumpling knew that there were many experts in the county government office, so it didn't want to join in the fun and flapped its wings to leave.

Upon hearing the words "Dragon Tiger Temple," the guards in front of the county government office were shocked. They had never met Qin Luo, but they knew that Dragon Tiger Temple was a place not to be trifled with.

Immediately, a guard went in to report.

Qin Luo led Zi Yue into the county government office. The guards around them held long spears, but they only dared to surround Qin Luo and none of them dared to step forward to stop him.

"Your Highness, Qin Luo from Longhu Temple has arrived!"

Zhu Chi was still enjoying the song and dance in the main hall when he heard the news that Qin Luo had arrived at the county government office. He frowned and asked, "What are Chen Rong and the others doing?"

As they were talking.

Qin Luo appeared in the spacious courtyard in front of the main hall.

Zhu Chi walked out of the main hall. He looked at Qin Luo, who was surrounded by people, and sneered, "Heh, you have a way to heaven but you don't take it, you have no way to hell but you barge in."

Hu Sanniang and Mu Baichuan stood on either side of Zhu Chi. In front of them stood a row of Foundation Establishment cultivators holding long swords, their eyes filled with wariness.

Zi Yue leisurely ate her candied hawthorns, treating the county government office like a stroll through the streets. With her senior brother around, she felt no danger.

Zhu Chi watched as the little girl next to Qin Luo was still enjoying her candied hawthorns, completely ignoring them, and his anger was about to burst forth.

"Young Master, the Immortal Master has come to discuss something with you."

The atmosphere in the courtyard was tense. Zhou Dapeng spoke first, wanting to act as a peacemaker.

Upon hearing this, Zhu Chi smiled contemptuously. He opened the jade fan in his hand, leisurely waving it, his expression smug. "It seems my methods are still effective. Now you know to come and negotiate?"

Qin Luo looked at the arrogant Zhu Chi and said calmly, "I have said before, if someone is an enemy of Longhu Temple, I will fight them to the end."

"Heh, are you here to threaten me?"

"It's a reminder."
