In the mountains and forests.
An elderly man dressed in bright red brocade robes led the way. He knew how terrifying Qin Luo was, and he trembled all over.
The mountain god temple not far away is decorated with carved beams and painted rafters, and is hung with bright red lanterns. Although it is a festive color, it is cold and quiet in the deep mountains and forests, and appears particularly gloomy.
A gust of demonic wind swept by, and a monster dressed in a red robe came closer. It was tall and looked human, with a face full of pimples. Qin Luo recognized it at a glance as a toad spirit.
The toad demon glared angrily at Qin Luo beside the old man in brocade robes, "Sun Qian, you ungrateful wretch! You took my gold and then sent a Taoist priest to harm me?"
Sun Qian was so frightened that he knelt on the ground and kowtowed repeatedly, "Mountain God, I also wanted to send the bride to you, but the Immortal Master told us to send the bride back. Please go to him."
The toad spirit looked at Qin Luo, not daring to be careless. "Daoist, I have not offended you. We keep to ourselves. Why are you ruining my plans?"
Qin Luo's eyes narrowed slightly, and he said calmly, "I heard the bride crying her heart out. How can I just sit idly by? How dare this little toad spirit force a commoner's daughter to marry him?"
Sensing the murderous intent, the toad demon quickly explained, "Taoist priest, I did not force you to marry this woman. I bought her with gold. If you don't believe me, ask Sun Qian."
Qin Luo looked at Sun Qian, who was kneeling on the ground trembling, and asked, "Is what it said true?"
Sun Qian nodded, "It's true."
"Was it voluntary for the bride's family?"
"It was voluntary."
"real?"
Qin Luo looked puzzled.
Sweating profusely, Sun Qian raised his hand and said, "Immortal Master, I swear to God, their family did it voluntarily. If they didn't, may I be struck by lightning!"
Boom!
A bolt of lightning struck down from the sky.
Qin Luo didn't even blink.
Being struck by lightning is probably not a good thing.
Seeing Sun Qian shattered to pieces in the tribulation lightning, the toad demon instantly understood Qin Luo's terror. It knelt on the ground and begged for mercy, "Daoist, spare my life! I really haven't done anything wrong."
"Swear it."
Qin Luo felt that making an oath was quite effective.
The toad spirit raised his hand, "I swear to God, I have never harmed anyone. If I am lying, may I be struck by lightning!"
After making the oath, the toad spirit looked timidly at the starry sky, and only breathed a sigh of relief when it saw that no lightning struck.
"What's the deal with that mountain god temple?"
The toad spirit dared not conceal the truth. "Reporting to the Daoist Master, I have cultivated for eight hundred years and have the ability to swallow stones and turn them into gold. I paid the people to build the mountain god temple, and I often give gold and silver to the people around me. I paid for the incense offerings myself and have never forced the people around me. A few days ago, Sun Qian said he would help me find a beautiful wife and even took a piece of gold from me as a deposit."
Qin Luo said solemnly, "It is wrong of you to use the people's greed to benefit yourself. If you want to become a true mountain god, you must know the people's suffering and serve them, instead of using money to win people's hearts."
“The Taoist priest is right. I will never use money to bribe people again. I will definitely bring benefits to the local people.”
The toad spirit knelt on the ground and kowtowed.
"Come with me for a walk around the neighborhood."
Qin Luo walked towards the village.
The toad spirit transformed into its original form and followed behind him.
The village has a huge gap between the rich and the poor; the rich have built traditional courtyard houses, while the poor still live in thatched huts. "Did these wealthy families receive your gold?"
"Yes."
The toad spirit nodded.
"Why not give it to these poor people?"
"They are unwilling to give me incense offerings."
Qin Luo said in a deep voice, "Giving these people gold so that they can gain wealth without working is actually harming them. The bad consequences that are now borne by you are the result of your actions."
"Master, I was wrong!"
The toad spirit bowed its head respectfully.
Qin Luo arrived at the bride's house, a simple wooden house with a faint candlelight inside.
Knock knock knock!
I heard a knock on the door.
The young woman, who had just returned home, was a little nervous.
Who is it?
"Longhu Temple, Qin Luo."
Upon hearing the gentle voice, the young woman excitedly opened the door and greeted her with a smile, "Immortal Master, please come in."
Qin Luo walked into the house. The toad demon tried to jump in, but was swept away by the young woman's foot.
"Where did this toad come from?"
The young woman turned to Qin Luo and said, "Immortal Master, my name is Zhou Fang, you can just call me Xiao Fang."
Qin Luo nodded. He went into the room and saw the old man lying on the bed. The old man endured the pain and sat up, cupping his hands in a gesture of respect, "Thank you, Immortal Master, for saving my granddaughter."
Zhou Fang said respectfully with her pretty face: "Immortal Master, my parents died early and my grandfather raised me. He was injured by the servants of the Sun family. Sun Qian forced me to marry the mountain god, otherwise he would beat my grandfather to death. Thank you for saving my life, Immortal Master."
Qin Luo took out the golden gourd, and a ball of golden liquid floated in mid-air. "Old man, open your mouth."
The old man opened his mouth, and the dew flowed into his limbs and bones, and he quickly fell into a deep sleep.
"A good night's sleep will do the trick."
"Thank you, Immortal Master!"
Zhou Fang wanted to kneel down to express her gratitude.
But it was lifted up by a gentle breeze.
"I warned the mountain god that if it dares to do anything immoral or wicked, it will be struck by lightning!"
"On behalf of the villagers, I thank the Immortal Master!"
Zhou Fangfang bowed again in gratitude.
Qin Luo turned and left.
Zhou Fang noticed the toad spirit that had somehow entered the house, and she kicked it out.
The toad spirit followed Qin Luo's steps.
"Immortal Master, it's my fault, I'm guilty!"
"It's good that you understand. Since it was your mistake, I'll give you a chance to make amends, restore order to the village, protect the vulnerable people, and punish evil and promote good."
"I see."
