A clear morning in early spring.
The area was shrouded in mist and a light drizzle was falling.
Qin Luo and his companions walked in the rain along the terraced fields. The fields on both sides were filled with lush green rice. A gentle breeze blew, creating waves of green waves, and there were many small fish in the rice paddies.
Chu Peiran walked at the front, "I've heard that rice paddy fish are delicious, have any of you tried them?"
"No."
"This humble monk does not eat meat."
Chu Peiran laughed and joked, "Changes in the weather are nothing to fear, and our ancestors' ways are nothing to follow. Eat what you want, drink what you want."
Qin Luo recalled the wine-and-meat monk and echoed, "Wine and meat pass through the intestines, but Buddha remains in the heart."
"This humble monk would not dare."
Gui Chen smiled and shook his head.
I know they were joking.
Chu Peiran suddenly stopped. A small tabby cat was lying on the ridge of a rice paddy not far away, staring intently at the paddy field. Suddenly, it reached out and scooped up a small carp.
Meow~
The kitten happily carried the fish away.
Qin Luo and the others followed behind the little kitten. Not far away, there were many earthen houses in the mountains, with wisps of smoke rising from their rooftops.
"It smells so good."
Qin Luo smelled a familiar fragrance.
He arrived at the earthen house near the terraced fields and asked with a smile, "Auntie, could I exchange it for a few wild vegetable dumplings?"
"Master, you've come at just the right time. We've just steamed a pot of wild vegetable dumplings. Please help yourselves." The simply dressed middle-aged woman greeted you with a warm smile.
The middle-aged woman brought out steaming hot wild vegetable dumplings, saying, "Take as many as you can, and eat them on the road."
"Auntie, you're so kind."
"Thank you, benefactor."
Chu Peiran and Gui Chen picked up the wild vegetable dumplings one after the other. After Qin Luo picked up the wild vegetable dumplings, he took out a handful of copper coins and smiled, "Auntie, is this enough money?"
"Really, you don't need to."
"Auntie, you can have this."
After some initial refusals, the middle-aged woman smiled and shook her head, "Taoist priest, just give me three copper coins."
"I'm sorry to have troubled you, auntie."
"It's no trouble at all."
Wishing you a bountiful harvest this year!
"Thank you, Taoist priest!"
Qin Luo and the others ate wild vegetable dumplings as they walked. Chu Peiran beamed, "Brother Dao, following you was definitely the right decision. We actually got to eat such delicious food."
"Looks like you're not really traveling on a shoestring budget."
"Hahaha, we've been found out."
Gui Chen ate only half of the wild vegetable dumpling, and put the remaining half into the golden bowl to feed the pig demon.
They crossed mountains and valleys.
Qin Luo admired the scenery along the way.
Chu Peiran held the book of sages and saints, and when he got excited, he would recite a few lines aloud.
The rain has stopped and the sky is clear.
The air in the mountains is fresh.
A beautiful rainbow hangs in the distance.
As noon approached, a piercing wolf howl rang out. Qin Luo turned to look and saw a large black wolf leap out of the woods, its eyes bloodshot and filled with murderous intent.
"You beast, you're asking for death!"
Chu Peiran narrowed his eyes, closed the book, and the long sword on the book box emerged. A golden sword light slashed out, and the black wolf was hit by the sword light and fell into a pool of blood on the spot.
Qin Luo looked at the black wolf, whose eyes were about to close. Its eyes were still fierce, and it showed no fear whatsoever.
Ordinary deities would tremble with fear at the sight of Qin Luo, but the lowly black wolf before them showed no fear whatsoever. Qin Luo sensed a wisp of malevolent energy emanating from the black wolf, "There is something unclean about this black wolf."
Gui Chen nodded, his expression serious, and said, "This is the aura of the demon race. There should be demons nearby."
Chu Peiran took out a map. "There's a mountain to the east called Fengmo Mountain. It should be related to that mountain."
"Let's go take a look."
"OK!"
As they approached Fengmo Mountain, many bloodthirsty and ferocious demonic beasts appeared in the mountains. Chu Peiran suggested, "Demons roam around here. Why don't we split into three groups and clear out the demons in the vicinity?"
"Good idea."
"This humble monk agrees."
Chu Peiran went to the left, Gui Chen went to the right, and Qin Luo walked in the middle. They agreed to meet behind Fengmo Mountain.
Gui Chen hadn't gone far when a huge, bright red snake darted out of the woods. He raised his golden alms bowl, and the Buddha's light shone on the snake. The originally ferocious snake became docile and turned to flee.
Chu Peiran held a long sword as a pack of wolf demons, their bodies wreathed in blood, charged toward him. With a slash of golden sword light, the wolf demons fell one after another into pools of blood.
Qin Luo did not encounter any demonic beasts, but he did meet a girl dressed in black in the mountains.
The girl carried a bamboo basket and was picking herbs under the tree. Qin Luo dared not be careless. Monsters roamed around them, and the girl in front of him dared to pick herbs here, so she must be no ordinary person.
Qin Luo noticed the hideous red mask hanging from the girl's waist; that demon mask was no ordinary object.
The girl sensed someone approaching and turned to look at Qin Luo, her red eyes filled with wariness. "Who is it?"
"Longhu Temple, Qin Luo."
Qin Luo smiled and nodded in acknowledgment.
The girl in black stood up. She didn't feel threatened. After putting the freshly picked herbs into her bamboo basket, she bowed and said, "My name is Jiang Li. What brings you here, Daoist?"
Qin Luo smiled and answered truthfully, "Demons and monsters roam the area, so I came to take a look."
Jiang Li shook her head and sighed softly. She pointed to Fengmo Mountain and said, "An ancient demon is suppressed there. Because the seal has loosened, the living beings in the vicinity have been corrupted."
"I have a way to reinforce the seal."
"real?"
Qin Luo nodded.
Jiang Li looked into Qin Luo's clear eyes, as clear as the lake in her dream, and felt an extraordinary sense of warmth towards him. She nodded and smiled, "Daoist Master, please come with me."
Qin Luo noticed Jiang Li's bloodshot eyes. "Miss Jiang, have you been living near Fengmo Mountain?"
"Yes, my duty is to guard this place." Jiang Li smiled slightly, looking very relaxed.
