A few days later.
Kaifeng Prefecture.
Pei Jian's letter finally arrived.
Recently, Uncle Pei and Master Pei, who were far away in Kaifeng, received two letters from home.
The first letter was from Mrs. Pei, saying that the family had hired a book boy, who was clever and smart, and said that Jian was a child prodigy. Under the book boy's persuasion, Jian began to study hard.
The two masters of the Pei family who were successful candidates in the imperial examination sneered at this: "Jian'er is a kid who has nothing to do with studying hard."
Most likely the old lady doted on her grandson, so she exaggerated.
Then came the second letter.
This letter was sent by Pei Jian himself.
It was really strange. In the past few years, the father and son had been together less and less, and it was usually the uncle of the Pei family who sent letters home, but Pei Jian had never taken the initiative to send a letter.
Could it be that the brat misses his father?
Feeling slightly relieved, Mr. Pei opened the letter and saw his son's ugly handwriting. He felt pain in his eyes and decisively withdrew the fatherly love he had been brewing.
How can this useless thing write like this?
Restraining his anger, Master Pei felt both sour and ridiculous after reading the letter which seemed to be written to him but was actually full of praise for his younger brother's book boy's genius.
I've never seen you so concerned about me before, and you've even taken so much care of a servant boy.
Oh.
As for what my son said, "He can conceive a brilliant storyline before he is even enlightened" and "I can understand everything in the Thousand Character Classic after reading it once", these are all nonsense.
Mr. Pei didn't believe a word of it.
So, like Master Wu, Master Pei picked up his pen and wrote a letter in reply, which he would regret every time he thought of it, and he would toss and turn in bed, ashamed and helpless: "Impossible, absolutely impossible! There is no such genius in the world. Your little brother is most likely a liar, a mediocre person pretending to be a genius."
"Only an ignorant fool like you would mistake a mediocre person for a genius! You only add to the joke and make people laugh!"
"Read more books and broaden your horizons!"
"I'm very busy with my studies recently, and your grandfather is on vacation next month, so he's planning to come home. I'll tell him about this, and when he returns, I'll give you a good lesson!"
"And your 'prodigy' little brother!"
