Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Stuffing the little squirrel into his warm neck, Qin Mian pulled his cloak over the squirrel and covered it tightly. He said with a tone that sounded both complaining and relieved, "It's so cold, why are you out here?"

Song Shu swung his tail and lay lazily on Qin Mian's shoulder. He had just come here following the scent of the grain thief and had been running very fast for fear of going in the wrong direction. Now he felt that all four paws were a little tired.

"Coo."

You nasty grain thief, if you hadn't sneaked out without telling the rat, would the rat have gone out to look for you?

"Okay, okay, it's my fault."

Qin Mian answered the question naturally. The frost and snow between his brows had long since turned into a stream flowing in spring. Just one look at it made him feel relaxed and happy.

"Let's go back to the thatched cottage first, and then I'll apologize to you, okay?"

There was still some snow on the big tail. Song Shu shook the big tail and wiped the snow off Qin Mian's neck. While doing this, he took the time to reply:

"Gu."

The grain thief must apologize to the rat when he returns home.

The squirrel's tail tickled his neck, but Qin Mian ignored the squirrel's pettiness and chuckled, saying slowly, "I understand."

A man and a mouse walked in the vast snow, and the way home seemed to be faster than the way there.

Back at the thatched cottage, Qin Mian took off Song Shu's fox fur and footwear, praising him softly, "You're getting smarter. You even remember to prepare something to protect yourself from the wind and snow before going out."

"Gu."

certainly.

Waiting like a big boss for Qin Mian to take off the last foot covering, Song Shu raised his head to look at Qin Mian's face.

She seemed even whiter than the last time we met.

The dark eyes stared straight at Qin Mian. Song Shu wrinkled his nose and became even more worried. Why did the grain thief look weaker and weaker?

On the contrary, Song Shu felt that he didn't feel cold at all when he went out this time. Even when he was almost at the foot of Lingshan Mountain, he didn't feel how cold it was.

Song Shu frowned and thought carefully. Could it be that because the grain thief gave the rat the elixir, the rat didn't feel cold, but the grain thief didn't replenish his body properly, so his face became paler and paler?

Seeing that the little squirrel was actually daydreaming while talking, Qin Mian poked its cheek with his finger and said unhappily, "I asked you if you were cold, why are you daydreaming?"

Coming back to his senses, Song Shu shook his head, then hugged Qin Mian and poked his finger and nibbled it gently as a warning.

A grain thief is not allowed to poke a rat's face.

"Stingy."

Qin Mian snorted and poked the little squirrel's mouth with his finger, accidentally touching the squirrel's smooth and tender tongue. He was stunned for a moment, then deliberately said, "Can't I even poke it?"

"Gu!"

Can't!

If you poke the rat again, it will bite you!

Song Shu had a fierce look on his face and bared his teeth at Qin Mian in a ferocious manner.

"Tsk—how silly."

"Gu!"

Only grain thieves are stupid!

~

Five days later, the sky was clear for a rare time. Although the sun hanging high in the sky was not warm and could not melt the snow accumulated on the ground, Song Shu was in a rare mood. He excitedly hugged the walnut tree outside the house and climbed up in a few steps.

The mouse hasn't climbed a tree for a long time. If it doesn't climb again, it will forget what it feels like to climb a tree.

Watching the little squirrel running around happily on the walnut tree, Qin Mian had a smile in his eyes. After watching silently for a while, he suddenly bent down, grabbed the snow on the ground, made it into a ball, and threw it towards the little squirrel on the tree.

The snowball would track the little squirrel as it dodged left and right, and finally fall straight down, brushing against the squirrel's ear hair.

"Gu!"

The grain thief scares the rat!

Song Shu gritted his teeth in anger, scraped the remaining snow on the leaves, and imitated Qin Mian to pinch a small snowball, then threw it at people without hesitation.

But his claws were small, and the snowball he made was also small. The small snowball floated down a foot in front of Qin Mian, and the force was not enough to hit Qin Mian.

"oops."

Qin Mian shook his head pretending to be regretful: "The force was too weak. You couldn't hit me even if I was standing still."

Song Shu:?

provocative!

Unable to bear the provocation, Song Shu climbed to another branch, pinched a bigger snowball, and threw it towards Qin Mian with great force.

This time the force was quite strong and was about to hit Qin Mian, but who knew that the person who had said he would stand still suddenly raised his foot and kicked the falling snowball away.

Song Shu: "Gu?" Cheating?

"I didn't say I was going to stand there and let you throw it." Qin Mian glanced at the stunned little squirrel on the tree and raised his eyebrows and said proudly: "Oh, what should I do? I just can't hit it."

!

Very good, the grain thief completely angered the rat.

The small figure quickly climbed down from the tree. Song Shu picked up the snow on the ground, made a larger snowball, and ran towards Qin Mian.

Qin Mian naturally couldn't let Song Shu hit him with a snowball, so he raised his leg and ran back. Seeing that Qin Mian dared to run, Song Shu became more and more angry, and immediately chased after him. The man and the mouse actually ran and fought in the snow.

Song Shu chased Qin Mian for two miles, and finally let Qin Mian take a snowball. Only then did he calm down and ride on Qin Mian's head back to the thatched hut.

As the sky gradually darkened, there was not a single star in the sky. The moon only shyly showed half of its face before it was quickly covered by the clouds. Only the candles on the table could illuminate this small world.

"Have you ever had a drink?"

Qin Mian took out a wine gourd and poured some into Song Shu's cup. He raised his eyebrows and said maliciously, "I guess you haven't tasted it."

liquor?

Song Shu held the cup and sniffed it. It had a sweet and fragrant smell, with a hint of coolness.

He tilted his head to look at Qin Mian and said honestly, "Gu."

The rat has never drunk it.

There are only pine cones to eat in Lingshan, no honey water, and no wine to drink.

"Hehe, I knew it." Qin Mian coaxed softly, "This is a good thing."

What he took out was the green plum wine brewed by his master ten years ago. It tasted sweet and mellow. If someone who had never drunk alcohol took a sip, they might think they were drinking sweet soup.

But this sweet soup has a strong aftertaste.

"This green plum wine is very rare. Master was unwilling to share it with me at first. I earned this pot by coming to guard Lingshan. Little squirrel, you are truly blessed to have met me, don't you know?"

Qin Mian's tone sounded a bit arrogant. Song Shu rolled his eyes in dissatisfaction, turned around holding the cup, and pointed his tail at Qin Mian.

The grain thief has been talking more and more arrogantly lately, and even the rat doesn't want to listen to him anymore.

But just as he turned around, Qin Mian pulled him back. Seeing the little squirrel staring at him angrily, Qin Mian was not afraid.

He poured himself a glass of green plum wine, and then gently knocked the white jade cup against the wall of the celadon cup. The green wine in the cup swayed slightly. Qin Mian said with a smile:

"We don't have the custom of drinking alone. You need someone to drink with you to appreciate the flavor. Come on, cheers."

Seeing Qin Mian tilting his head back and drinking the whole glass of wine, Song Shu hesitated slightly. He first held the glass and carefully licked it. After tasting that the green plum wine was indeed sweet, he also imitated Qin Mian's posture and drank the whole glass of wine heroically.

"happy."

Qin Mian poured another glass for Song Shu. The two cups clinked together again. Qin Mian said, "Although the weather isn't great today, it's fate that we met. I'm happy, so I'll have another drink."

Seeing Qin Mian drink another glass, Song Shu followed suit.

After just one drink, he felt a little dizzy. The celadon cup fell from the squirrel's arms and rolled around on the table.

Song Shu burped, sat down on the ground with his legs limp, and his eyes were a little dazed.

What's wrong with the rat's brain? Did the grain thief poison the rat?

"Oh, how can you not be drunk?"

But after just two cups, the little squirrel actually threw the cup away. Qin Mian lay on the table, with his wide sleeves hanging in the air. He stretched out his hand and poked the dazed Song Shu, saying happily:

"Little squirrel, hurry up and show your fists."

He had never seen the little squirrel drunk, so now was the time for him to become interested.

"Gu?"

What kind of boxing?

Song Shu glared at Qin Mian in a daze, then stood up with difficulty, stepped unsteadily on Qin Mian's arm, and climbed unsteadily onto his shoulder.

Song Shu washed his eyes with his little paws and whispered, "Gu."

The mouse is very sleepy.

"Okay, okay."

It seemed that he had not expected that the little squirrel was drunk and just wanted to sleep. Qin Mian turned his head and rubbed his thin lips on the fur on the little squirrel's cheek. He whispered, "Go to sleep."

Song Shu made a "gu" sound and fell asleep on Qin Mian's shoulder.

Taking the little squirrel down and placing it on his lap, Qin Mian picked up the cup on the table and slowly took another sip of the green plum wine. His cold features looked even more unapproachable in the candlelight.

After drinking half a pot of plum wine alone, Qin Mian took the little squirrel back to bed.

Placing the little squirrel in his palm, Qin Mian closed his eyes and meditated. Perhaps because he knew that he would be weak for a period of time every time he reinforced the formation, the little squirrel was unwilling to eat the Qi Condensation Pill recently.

Every time Qin Mian was about to crush it, the little squirrel would stand up to stop him.

But Qin Mian would not do as the little thing wished. The Qi Condensation Pill was a good thing, and the little squirrel had to eat more of it so that it could practice quickly and accompany him longer in the future.

"Gu."

The humming sound of a little squirrel was heard in the dark night. Qin Mian lowered his head and saw that the little guy turned over while holding his hand, and his big tail was wrapped around his wrist again.

Qin Mian raised his thin lips slightly, chuckled, and closed his eyes again.

He still needs to practice more, otherwise the little squirrel will have to save its food for him.

~

The time spent practicing sword skills and bickering with the grain thief passed quickly. In the blink of an eye, Song Shu had been in the thatched cottage for two and a half months. This morning, the grain thief said that he wanted to reinforce the formation of Lingshan for the last time.

This time, Qin Mian did not leave Song Shu in the thatched hut, but took Song Shu with him.

It seemed that every time the barrier was reinforced, there was heavy snow, and this time was no exception. Song Shu saw Qin Mian find a stone slab. The red lines on the stone slab were different from the strange stone he found the first time.

As Qin Mian chanted the spells faster and faster, Song Shu saw the lines on the stone slab becoming more and more obvious. He blinked and felt that the lines on the stone slab looked somewhat familiar.

It is 80% similar to the old turtle, but the turtle on the stone slab has a slightly different head from the old turtle.

Could he be a relative of the old turtle?

As Qin Mian reinforced the last formation, Lingshan Mountain was suddenly covered with a bright white light, which then quickly disappeared.

Putting his hands behind his back, Qin Mian let out a breath.

It's finally over.

Turning around, I saw a dazed little squirrel, its two black eyes staring at the stone slab stupidly, its four paws scratching at its cloak without moving at all. It was obvious that it was daydreaming.

"Come back to your senses."

Putting the little squirrel back into the crook of his neck, Qin Mian walked back and asked Song Shu: "Spring is coming soon, and you haven't told me whether you want to return to the sect with me."

Although Qin Mian guessed that even if Song Shu disagreed, he would still forcibly take the squirrel back, but he still wanted to ask. It would be better if the little squirrel was willing.

"Gu?"

Song Shu came to his senses and suddenly realized that the most difficult winter was about to pass.

The mouse had never felt that winter passed so quickly.

But, do you want to follow the grain thief?

Song Shu scratched Qin Mian's hair and did not answer immediately.

The rat hasn't made up his mind yet.

Qin Mian glanced at the silent little squirrel, pursed his lips, his eyes deep, and finally did not continue to urge the little squirrel to give an answer.

~

The man and the mouse lived in the thatched hut as usual. Song Shu was now able to skillfully use the sword skills taught by Qin Mian and could perform a whole set with his eyes closed.

Soon, the snow outside the thatched hut showed signs of melting, revealing some of the original muddy yellow color of the land. The grass on the roadside began to sprout green shoots, the hay on the thatched hut no longer needed to be replaced, and even the walnut trees began to grow green leaves.

Song Shu used his claws to scratch the newly grown leaves of the walnut tree. Under the tree, Qin Mian had his hands behind his back and was looking up at him.

"squirrel,"

Qin Mian said seriously, "I'm going back to my sect. Would you like to go with me?"

Same problem.

Song Shu grabbed a branch and stuck his head out to observe the grain thieves under the tree.

The grain thief was still dressed in white, and his face was as handsome as when the little squirrel first saw him. Scenes of his life in Lingshan flashed through Song Shu's mind, where he was chased by a big black snake, teased by a sable, and had to work hard to collect food. Although he had Ling Yang as a friend, Ling Yang did not meet him all the time.

hiss.

It seems that rats don't have anything important in Lingshan.

Song Shu frowned and said seriously, "Gugu, gugu?"

If the rat follows you, will there be food to eat?

"If you return to the sect with me, there will be endless food," Qin Mian coaxed patiently, "and I have some new honey water for you to drink. My cave is filled with many good things you haven't seen yet. How about I sew you some clothes when we get back?"

Song Shu thought for a while, but before he could answer, he heard Qin Mian say, "I can also steal the elixir that my uncle gave to his weasel and give it to you..."

"Gu!"

Song Shu landed steadily on top of Qin Mian's head, grabbed Qin Mian's hair angrily and warned: "Gugu!"

Grain thieves are not allowed to steal other people’s things!

With a smile on his lips, Qin Mian raised his hand and touched the little squirrel's furry tail, saying contentedly:

"You are finally willing to come down. I will not treat you unfairly when we return to the sect."

Glancing at the sly smile on the grain thief's face, Song Shu hummed twice, clutching the fluttering hairband with his two claws, and warned: "Gugu, gugu!"

If the grain thief dares to treat the rat badly, the rat will return to Lingshan!

No matter what nice words the grain thief says, the rat will not listen!

The author has something to say:

----------------------

Song Shu: Grain thieves, remember to be nice to rats.

Qin Mian (rubbing the rat's chest): Am I not good enough for you? [Lop-eared rabbit head]
