Chapter 88 Fallen Angel (1)

Chapter 88 Fallen Angel (1)

As the countdown ended, Lin Chujiu vaguely sensed a powerful force around her.

She looked over, her eyes trembling—

Hongjiadu, who was standing next to him, suddenly stood up at some point.

Sensing Lin Chujiu looking at him, he slowly raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, his face covered with a thick gray beard.

Lin Chujiu was shocked!

She looked at Zhou Ruoruo again and was horrified to find that the other woman's body had expanded countless times in a short moment, almost taking up half the room. Her already green body instantly turned dark green like ink. When she saw Lin Chujiu looking at her, her eyes flashed red, and her malice intensified.

Xu Sisi's figure, which was originally a black shadow, seemed to burst into flames, turning into a fiery red color, and then began to tremble violently!

She seemed to be in great pain, as if she had really been burned. She rolled on the ground, and when she realized it was no use, she pounced on Lin Chujiu!

Lin Chujiu was startled and instinctively wanted to run away.

Bai Yingfeng, standing beside Lin Chujiu, looked at the red figure and stood in front of her, his expression wary.

Pei Yu did not step forward to protect Lin Chujiu; instead, he looked at Bai Yingfeng with a mocking gaze.

"You can't help her with the terrifying escape; she really has to go through it."

After saying that, he raised an eyebrow at Bai Yingfeng in a provocative manner:

"Idiot, you don't even know this?"

Bai Yingfeng listened to his words, silently stepped aside, and turned to hit Pei Yu.

"Stop hitting!"

Lin Chujiu suddenly spoke, interrupting the contest between the two men.

Her voice trembled slightly, but she tried her best to keep it clear: "Let's go."

She was saying this to herself.

Pei Yu gave her a deep look, his turbulent gaze suppressing many unspoken words.

But in the end, he simply nodded, his voice low and deep: "Yes, it's good that you understand."

Just then, the three terrifying figures broke free from all restraints, carrying overwhelming resentment and an aura of destruction, and came crashing down from three directions.

The ground cracked and groaned beneath their feet.

The teaching building, unable to bear the weight, emitted a cracking sound.

Lin Chujiu ran out of the classroom, her gaze quickly sweeping over the messy corridor.

She could sense that the secret was related to Zhou Ruoruo.

Most people keep their secrets in private spaces, and for students, their only private space is probably their dormitory.

Her resentment ran so deep that she even used Zhou Ruoruo's body as a vessel.

Will her secret, her most authentic trace, still remain in that "her" dormitory?

There, perhaps, are not only remnants of the past, but also... hints pointing to the "exit"?

This idea pierced through the fog like lightning.

"To the dormitory building!"

Without further hesitation or even time to explain, she took advantage of Bai Yingfeng and Pei Yu's attention still being on each other and turned to rush towards the direction of the student dormitory she remembered.

Her movements were so fast they were almost unsteady, yet they carried a resolute determination to go all out.

"Wine!"

"Sister!"

Two voices rang out almost simultaneously.

The next second, two figures, one white and one black, rushed to her side like a gust of wind, instantly taking half a step forward to re-form the triangle that protected her in the center.

Bai Yingfeng punched a section of concrete beam that had fallen in front of him, while Pei Yu waved his sleeve to brush away the cold, black mist that was spreading towards them.

"Left! It's closer through the small garden!" Bai Yingfeng shouted, his golden eyes rapidly scanning the path.

“The right side. The yin energy on the left has formed a vortex; it’s bait.” Pei Yu calmly rejected the idea, while pointing out another fork in the road.

Lin Chujiu had no time to judge and, relying on her intuition, abruptly turned into the corridor on the right.

The rotten wooden floorboards creaked underfoot, kicking up a cloud of dust.

The two men followed without hesitation, protecting her firmly in their midst.

Behind them, the monster's roar and the sound of buildings collapsing grew closer and closer, as if death itself was closing in.

The red shadow pierced through the corner wall they had just passed, sending shards of stone flying and bringing a terrifying heat.

Darkness surged in from the back corridor like a tide, swallowing up the light.

The colossus's heavy footsteps shook the lampshade above its head.

"Stay close to me! Don't look back!"

Bai Yingfeng cleaved away the rat's claw that appeared out of nowhere with another palm strike, his voice resolute.

Pei Yu's voice rang steadily in Lin Chujiu's ears, carrying a strange, soothing power:

"Jiu Jiu, watch your step."

Lin Chujiu's heart was pounding wildly, almost bursting out of her chest. Her limbs were weak from fear and running, but hearing the two very different yet equally determined voices beside her, a force supported her.

She can't stop.

She must get out of here alive!

They rushed into the dark dormitory building, where the hallways were in a mess.

It was pitch black all around, with only the eerie glow emanating from the monster outside the window occasionally casting its light in.

"Third floor! Towards the far east end!"

As a ghost doctor, Pei Yu had a keen sense of smell and keenly detected the aura left by Zhou Ruoruo.

"Get out of the way!"

Bai Yingfeng growled and kicked the dormitory door with its faded nameplate and peeling paint.

"Bang!" The door panel and the rotten door frame shattered inward, raising an even larger cloud of dust.

The three of them rushed in immediately!

The dormitory was small, with four bunk beds, eight old desks, and four large wardrobes.

It was no different from other abandoned dormitories, yet it was permeated with an invisible sorrow.

Lin Chujiu's gaze instantly locked onto the desk by the window.

There was a bloody handprint on the wooden table, as if someone had deliberately left it there.

She rushed over and, ignoring the dust, quickly wiped the table.

An upside-down, handcrafted wooden photo frame comes into view.

She picked it up and wiped the dust off the glass.

The photo shows several girls in old-fashioned school uniforms, with their arms around each other and bright smiles on the playground.

One of them was lightly circled with a ballpoint pen—a delicate face, gentle and bright eyes, the air of a pure and innocent girl from an old-fashioned idol drama.

The moment Lin Chujiu saw the girl's face, her heart skipped a beat!

On the back of the photo, two delicate characters have become blurred, but can still be vaguely discerned: Jiang Yan.

Lin Chujiu's heart clenched painfully!

She quickly pulled open the desk drawer.

There were only some acidified books inside.

Lin Chujiu flipped through the pages until she reached the bottom, where her fingertips touched a hard cover.

She pulled it out; it was a notebook with a hand-drawn starry sky pattern on the cover, now faded and mottled.

On the title page is written a name as poetic as a poem: Jiang Yan.

Lin Chujiu flipped through the pages quickly.

The preceding sections are mostly study notes.

Later on, the handwriting began to become somewhat messy.

[Date: Cloudy] Lately, I've had a feeling that someone is watching me. Am I overthinking it?

The way Zhou Ruoruo looked at me... was different now.

Xu Sisi is the same.

Hong Jiadu spoke to me today, his tone was strange, he seemed hesitant to speak. Pei Yu... he seems to be avoiding something.

[Date: Rainy] My homework... seems to have been tampered with. It's all smudged.

I asked Zhou Ruoruo, and she said she didn't see it.

But I clearly...

[Month X, Day X, Sunny] They called me over...

Then they hit me...

what do I do?

The handwriting became even more messy here, with some strokes even tearing the paper.

Then, there were several pages that had been roughly torn out, leaving only jagged edges.

Lin Chujiu's heart sank.

Just when she was about to give up, a neatly folded piece of paper with yellowed edges slid out from the hard cover of the notebook.

With trembling hands, she carefully opened it.

The letter contained only a few simple words, but Lin Chujiu found the contents shocking as she read it—

To our readers:

By the time you read this letter, I may already be dead.

I don't know, I really don't know, and I don't want to die.

But they were pushing too hard...

They burned me with a lighter, it hurt so much.

Zhou Ruoruo said I looked like a green fly, and then during the holiday, she locked me in the toilet for three days.

I don't know what I did wrong, why is this happening to me? Just a few months ago, we were good classmates.

Last semester, they were good students.

I hate it so much...

I can't hold a grudge, but I will never forgive...

I will never forgive!

—Jiang Yan
