Chapter 12 Mother's Nightmare (2)

Chapter 12 Mother's Nightmare (2)

Before her mother could react, Lin Chujiu immediately buried herself in the blankets, trembling with fear.

The rules originally said to just wrap her neck and below in the blanket, but Lin Chujiu was so scared that she felt it would be safer to bury her whole body.

The mother, who was outside the blanket, seemed a little embarrassed and angry when she realized what was happening. She roared in frustration, and the "heh heh" sound grew louder!

Lin Chujiu hid under the covers, tears welling up in her eyes.

Just then, she felt a long nose bump against her neck through the blanket!

Lin Chujiu winced in pain and curled up into a small ball, not daring to struggle, like a pangolin under attack, using its back to protect its soft body.

The nose rubbed against her neck, and the places it passed over seemed to be covered in a sticky substance.

Lin Chujiu felt something wet on the back of her neck, and then realized that it was probably someone drooling at her through the blanket!

The slimy substance carried a foul, rotten flesh odor that Lin Chujiu could smell even through the blanket.

Moreover, after a series of actions, Lin Chujiu clearly felt that the monster was trying to pull back her blanket!

Lin Chujiu felt like the wire in her brain was about to snap!

She shivered and wrapped herself tightly in the blanket, clutching it in a protective posture.

Suddenly, her hand touched something that looked like paper. Lin Chujiu's brain froze for two seconds before she realized that this must be the talisman she had drawn during the day.

She touched the talisman and found there were two of them, which must have fallen out of her pocket while she was sleeping.

The monster outside seemed to be getting impatient and suddenly rammed into her neck.

Lin Chujiu felt like her neck was about to be dislocated; this monster seemed impatient to eat!

In a moment of desperation, Lin Chujiu grabbed a talisman and stuck it on the quilt!

At the same time, the monster that was trying to attack her neck let out a loud scream! The sound made Lin Chujiu's ears hurt.

A series of fleeing sounds came from the room, making the floorboards thump loudly!

Lin Chujiu saw a talisman burning in front of her. The red runes on the talisman turned golden and shone with a mystical light.

Before Lin Chujiu could react, her body was instantly overcome with fatigue and a huge sense of emptiness as the talisman burned, as if she had been starving for three days.

Unable to resist, Lin Chujiu immediately fell into a deep sleep.

Unfortunately, it was evening, and Lin Chujiu was a newcomer, so no viewers were lingering in the live stream and no one could see this amazing scene except for Jiang Chaoyu.

Outside the door, Jiang Chaoyu looked at Lin Chujiu on the bed, his usually indifferent face now filled with shock.

In the horror world, players are not allowed to use spells or talismans. This rule was set by those adults, and the entire horror live stream was created by them.

This woman can actually use talismans, and she uses them so beautifully!

Who exactly is she?!

Jiang Chaoyu watched Lin Chujiu's live stream that evening.

While connected with that Maoshan conman, Lin Chujiu kept drawing her talisman.

At the time, everyone's attention was almost entirely focused on that charlatan from Maoshan who was looking for excrement, and they didn't pay much attention to Lin Chujiu drawing talismans.

However, Jiang Chaoyu silently remembered this point, and he felt the damage the talisman was inflicting on the monster outside the door.

The only talisman in this house was drawn by Lin Chujiu, so Lin Chujiu must have used the talisman.

He had just been standing outside Lin Chujiu's bedroom door, watching this monster cast a nightmare on Lin Chujiu.

He didn't know why, but his instinct was to rush in and protect her, but reason stopped him.

If someone is disturbed during a nightmare, they are very likely to become mentally disabled.

Moreover, is it really worth it to rescue a player you've only met once?

Jiang Chaoyu thus forcefully suppressed the urge to rescue Lin Chujiu.

Seeing Lin Chujiu wake up in fright, her big eyes initially filled with confusion, then with terror, and seeing her curled up into a small ball under the covers like a small animal that had lost its protection, Jiang Chaoyu felt a pang of heartache for no reason.

How strange! Could it be that I, too, have been tempted by worldly desires?

Jiang Chaoyu was a little puzzled. However, he wasn't sure if it was just a sign or if it had already grown stronger, so he decided to wait and see.

But right now, what he needs to be careful of is not Lin Chujiu, but that monster.

Lin Chujiu was clearly a novice user, and using up all the talisman paper had consumed a lot of her energy.

The following night, she slept like a log.

This would allow him to have enough energy to observe the spirit.

Their methods of exorcising monsters, even underworld officials, require a basis; they cannot arbitrarily determine punishments for monsters.

Jiang Chaoyu had no evidence at this point. Even if the spirit ran to Lin Chujiu's bedside in the middle of the night and seemed to be up to no good, Lin Chujiu managed to evade it. He couldn't find any evidence that the spirit had directly harmed anyone.

For the first time, he experienced the tediousness of the rules of the underworld.

It's okay, I'll fix it when I get back.

Even so, he still did things according to the rules.

As a Yin official, he should be protecting the ghostly people of the underworld. His feelings for Lin Chujiu were not out of a sense of responsibility to the people, but rather out of his own selfishness.

However, very few people can perfectly match his aesthetic preferences in every aspect, especially since, although his personality is foolish, it is also somewhat endearing...

Realizing this, Jiang Chaoyu almost forgot why she had come here in the first place.

A hint of annoyance flashed across his handsome face.

He silently repeated "sin" to himself, then focused intently on observing the spirit.

The spirit is in the kitchen. It has just been injured, its skin is burned black, and it desperately needs food to replenish its energy.

Lin Chujiu's talisman could only temporarily drive it away, but it couldn't cause it much harm.

Jiang Chaoyu silently bypassed the shop window and quietly appeared behind the spirit, his aura almost completely blending into the environment.

The "mom" in the kitchen felt a chill run down her spine for no apparent reason. She casually arched her back and continued eating the leftovers in front of her.

The leftover rice actually only contained some potatoes and cabbage that Jiang Chaoyu had specially added that night; it was incredibly vegetarian.

But "Mom" ate with exceptional relish, her enormous head almost buried in the pot, chewing her food with gusto and making an unbearable smacking sound.

Jiang Chaoyu observed discreetly from the shadows.

He tapped his fingers silently on the table, but the sound was immediately neutralized by an invisible current.

After finishing her meal, "Mom" smacked her lips twice with satisfaction, chewed a couple of times, as if savoring something, and let out a contented hum.

It turned around in the kitchen, and Jiang Chaoyu noticed that the red light in its eyes seemed to have dimmed a little.

Jiang Chaoyu turned towards the direction of "Mom," stepped aside, and made way for it.

Strangely, "Mom" just swaggered past him as if she hadn't seen him at all.

"Mom" came to Lin Chujiu's door again.

Its prominent nose twitched toward Lin Chujiu's room, as if it had caught a whiff of something, and its expression grew increasingly excited.

In the darkness, its nostrils flared slightly, and its beady green eyes gleamed with red light.

It seemed to get excited, and the expression on its ugly face became even more distorted.

It's obvious they've forgotten the pain once the wound has healed.

Jiang Chaoyu frowned. He had seen that look before and understood its meaning. It was definitely not the look a mother would give her daughter.

"It" is not the mother during the day at all.

"Mom" sniffed around outside the door for a while, and although her expression was still drooling, it gradually became satisfied.

Finally, it took one last, reluctant look at Lin Chujiu sleeping peacefully in the room, and then left, turning back every few steps.

After it left, Jiang Chaoyu appeared outside Lin Chujiu's door. He looked at Lin Chujiu thoughtfully, then at the back of "Mom's" figure.

Then, with a leisurely air, he disappeared outside the door.

He needs to go back to Fengdu to report.
