Chapter 17
That night, Gu Zhun suffered from insomnia, a rare occurrence. He tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. Fortunately, the next day was the weekend and he had no plans for anything, leaving him with ample space to create.
Gu Zhun didn't know what was wrong with him. While lying in bed, he inexplicably thought of Chen Shiman's face.
He always considered himself an honest man.
He admitted to being stunned upon seeing Chen Shiman for the first time, and also acknowledged the compatibility of this body with his own. Even this relationship often made Gu Zhun feel guilty, and he was reluctant to end it.
He believed that this was a need that everyone had and often confessed it late at night.
But as to why he couldn't sleep tonight, Gu Zhun didn't figure it out until late at night. Until sleepiness came over him, he thought it might be because of the scene of Chen Shiman and Xu Wei walking out of the convenience store hand in hand, which was too similar to the TV drama he had watched before.
The next morning, Gu Zhun's alarm clock rang at six o'clock. He boiled some water, took off his shirt and ran on the treadmill.
Gu Zhun was very particular about controlling his body shape. If he ate too many carbohydrates yesterday, he would consciously run on the treadmill today and then eat boiled vegetables for several days.
His eight abdominal muscles were exposed in the air, and his slightly larger pectoral muscles swayed like beautiful waves as his body shook. The golden sunlight shone directly into the room, making the sweat beads on his abdominal muscles emit golden light.
Gu Zhun pursed his lips, panting slightly. His thick hair, soaked with sweat, clung to his forehead. His wheat-colored skin looked healthy and translucent in the sunlight. The sweat on his forehead slid down the bridge of his nose to the corner of his mouth, then down his mermaid line into his triangle area.
The speed of the treadmill became faster and faster, and the slope gradually decreased. The only sound in the whole house was the movement of the treadmill. Gu Zhun did not enter the bathroom until he finished today's exercise, panting.
In the bathroom, Gu Zhun turned on the shower, pushed all his hair back, and bent over to let the water flow over his cheeks.
The whole bathroom was filled with fairy air, and Gu Zhun's body was looming in the mist. His thick but bony fingers slid across his body, and fine foam stuck to his body. The whole air was filled with the fruity scent of shower gel. If there was an omega at this time, he could even smell the ylang-ylang fragrance stirring in the bathroom.
Gu Zhun tilted his head back, his protruding Adam's apple rolled up and down, his lips slightly parted, and he closed his eyes. The water that should have hit his shoulders straight away, instead of flying around like sparks because of the movement of his arms, the warm water instead catalyzed the beast in his heart.
A few scattered ear hairs mixed with the sticky liquid rolled down the sewer. Gu Zhun grabbed a towel and dried himself before going out to prepare dinner.
Gu Zhun was wearing a black T-shirt. He had an inverted triangle body shape, and the looseness of the black T-shirt on his body gave him a unique charm.
He had an apron hanging around his neck with the rope tied in a knot behind him. He had one hand in his pocket and was stirring the pot with a spatula in the other.
The seafood porridge in the pot was bubbling, steaming, and emitting a faint fragrance. Gu Zhun grabbed a handful of vegetables and put them in, took off his apron, and went to wake Xu Wei up.
The little girl was not the type to stay in bed. After waking her up, Gu Zhun left the room and waited in the kitchen until Xu Wei had washed up and breakfast was ready.
Xu Wei sat down obediently on the stool, the enticing aroma making her stomach growl. She ate without hesitation, then turned to see her uncle sitting on a gaming chair, a cup of black coffee beside him, intently reading a book.
Afterwards, Xu Wei even lowered the noise he made while eating, for fear of disturbing his uncle.
Gu Zhun finished reading and Xu Wei finished his meal. He put the book down and sat on the dining chair on the other side. He asked softly, "Shall I take you there now?"
"Uncle, can I not go? I can be alone at home." Xu Wei tried to persuade her uncle. This was the first time she had such an idea. It was really good to be at home.
"No." Xu Wei is in school on weekdays, and the old couple are also in school on weekends and cannot spare time, so they found a daycare center for her.
"Uncle~"
Gu Zhun was stern and indifferent to such coquettishness. "Grandpa will pick you up tonight. Be good, okay?"
Xu Wei jumped off the chair and put the dishes into the kitchen. She stood at the kitchen door, leaning against it, and asked softly, "If you behave well, can you see big brother?"
Gu Zhun: What kind of theory is this?
"No, I have my own things to do."
Xu Wei ran over and said, "Uncle, please, I want to play with big brother."
Gu Zhun stood up and did not answer. Instead, he filled Xu Wei's small schoolbag and put it on her back, then pushed her out.
"If you have any questions, call your uncle or grandpa and grandma. Now let's go."
Knowing that he couldn't win over his uncle, Xu Wei could only accept his fate.
After sending Xu Wei to the place, Gu Zhun said a lot of things to her out of concern. In the end, Xu Wei didn't want to listen and turned around and ran away.
Looking at Xu Wei's running figure, Gu Zhun finally felt relieved and told the driver to go to the company.
When he arrived at the company, Gu Zhun changed his clothes and went to the dance studio to practice for a while. He was not satisfied until he had sweated all over.
Gu Zhun was humming a song in his headphones, feeling very comfortable.
Gu Zhun didn't realize what had happened until Liu Weiwei hurried in.
Liu Weiwei's high heels clicked. She put her hands on her hips and said to Gu Zhun in a somewhat irritable manner, "Pack up. We'll go to City B to record that music variety show later."
Gu Zhun was surprised, "Isn't it in two days?" He hadn't prepared anything, so how could he record it?
Liu Weiwei sneered, "Yeah, they said it was to coordinate with some guests' schedules. But then, I privately asked some of my good friends, and they told me the recording was originally scheduled for today. Humph, I really didn't expect that. Do they think it's fun to do that? So, they're trying to stir up some hype with you, aren't they? How unethical of you."
Liu Weiwei smoothed her hair. "Please take the trouble to review this process on the plane later. I'll summarize some possible issues for you later. I'm not saying anything bad about Gu Zhun, but believe it or not, if I hadn't just asked my friend about this, Weibo would have been saying you were being a big shot and late for the shoot. I've never seen anyone suck the blood of someone like this. They're just going to squeeze you dry!"
The more Liu Weiwei thought about it, the angrier she became. In the past, when Gu Zhun was not so famous, they could only grit their teeth and swallow their anger when encountering such things; but now, although he is not a household name known to everyone, at least he has a place in the domestic entertainment idol circle and is well-known.
Liu Weiwei couldn't help but laugh. How could one become famous and how hard could one work to be treated fairly?
This problem may really have no answer.
Gu Zhun stood up, frowning, "Okay, Sister Weiwei, I'm going to take a shower in ten minutes. We'll leave on time."
There was no time to complain, as Gu Zhun had realized that perhaps in the beginning, the program invited Gu Zhun just to gain popularity from him.
Now he has no right to regret, but the program team wants to make free popularity from him, what a joke.
Gu Zhun patted Liu Weiwei's shoulder to comfort her. He knew that Liu Weiwei was always protective of her children and had a quick temper, so at this time, he had to keep his composure.
"Sister Weiwei, we have always communicated via email, right?"
"Yes."
"Okay, let's go, thank you for your hard work."
Gu Zhun quickly took a shower and strode towards the nanny car.
Liu Weiwei handed over a thick stack of A4 paper. "It contains the content from the previous episode. Take a quick look. Our guest appearances don't have any very heavy tasks. At the back are some questions I compiled that are similar to music variety shows. Take a quick look. I know you know your limits."
Gu Zhun flipped through it casually and said nothing.
Liu Weiwei held her forehead with her hand. "These bastards, do they really think I, Liu Weiwei, am so easy to bully? If I had accepted their variety show, I should have kowtowed and knelt before them. How dare you mess with me! You better not cause any trouble during the recording!"
Liu Weiwei cursed several times in a low voice.
Xiao Jiang, sitting in the back, also thought it was unfair. They were clearly working together, and Brother Gu was quite a celebrity, yet he had such a gloomy face!
Xiao Jiang looked around and found that someone was missing. "Sister Weiwei, it seems that Brother Shiman didn't come today. Should we notify him?"
Xiao Jiang saw that Gu Zhun was already immersed in his work, so he lowered his voice and asked in Liu Weiwei's ear.
Liu Weiwei thought for a moment and said bluntly, "Call him." She remembered that the set-up of this variety show was well done. Since she was going, she should get something out of it. She could call Chen Shiman and take some nice photos so that it wouldn't be a wasted trip.
Xiao Jiang turned sideways, covered his mouth, found Chen Shiman's WeChat and made a call.
But the call didn't go through, so Xiao Jiang called his cell phone again.
The phone kept ringing until it automatically hung up, and Xiao Jiang was at a loss for words. Liu Weiwei seemed to notice and shook her head.
At this time, Gu Zhun took off his headphones and asked blankly: "What's wrong?"
Xiao Jiang replied, "Brother Chen's phone is disconnected."
Gu Zhun immediately replied: "Forget it, he has no tasks on weekends anyway, so there is no point in him going."
After saying this, Gu Zhun put on his headphones and continued to read the documents attentively. He did not speak again until he arrived at the airport.
Liu Weiwei looked at Gu Zhun's profile and felt a little regretful. She began to wonder if she shouldn't have given Gu Zhun this job, but after all, Gu Zhun really needed exposure.
More than anyone else, she wanted Gu Zhun to become famous and have a successful career.
Liu Weiwei sighed deeply and looked at the scenery passing by outside the window, feeling lost.
Fortunately, this trip was decided suddenly, and there were no private incidents along the way, so not much time was wasted.
Gu Zhun and his companions did not sleep on the plane. Liu Weiwei stayed with Gu Zhun and discussed some tricky problems with him.
"Judging from their temperament, they might be trying to bring up your relationship with Xu Ming. You should be careful and not give them any opportunity to take advantage of you," Liu Weiwei said.
"Okay, I know."
Then the two continued their research.
As for Xiao Jiang, she can't provide much help. In this case, emotional value must be provided.
An hour and a half later, the plane landed. The sun was shining brightly in City B. Liu Weiwei prayed in her heart, hoping that this would be a smooth journey.
