Chapter 1 Holding the Script



Zhou Mingqian didn't bother to look at her tears that flowed so easily, but Zhou's mother felt sorry for her.

"Mingqian, your sister was too young to call for help at the time, but someone did come to your rescue later, didn't they?"

Zhou Mingqian sneered, "Yeah, I'm just lucky to be alive."

Zhou's mother choked, looking at her little girl whose eyes were red like a rabbit's, "Alright, stop being sarcastic. Aren't you doing fine now? Didn't Jiaojiao say that there are leaders here today? You two need to get out of bed."

"I'm not going," Shen Banxia suddenly said.

Zhou's mother's face darkened. "Eldest daughter-in-law, don't think I don't know what you're up to. Actually, I'm just too lazy to expose you. Your younger sister already said that there are leaders here today."

"Mother, is my little sister the only one you truly love? Didn't you see how pale my wife looks?"

Shen Banxia felt a sudden surge of warmth in her heart, simply because Zhou Mingqian had unconditionally stood by her side.

"Zhou Mingqian, don't give me that nonsense," Zhou's mother shouted.

Zhou Mingjiao also chimed in, "Yes, sister-in-law, Dad is the brigade leader. If you do this, it will cause other commune members to have opinions."

"Really? When did you start earning work points in the fields, little sister? You graduated from high school a long time ago, didn't you?" Shen Banxia said unhurriedly.

Thinking about certain parts of the script, Shen Banxia's gaze towards Zhou Mingjiao grew even colder.

“Zhou Mingqian, if you two keep causing trouble, I’ll have your father come and invite you.”

Seeing the smug look in Zhou Mingjiao's eyes, Shen Banxia dropped a bombshell and said, "I'm pregnant."

That's right, with the script in hand, she has that much confidence.
