While Shen Banxia was chatting with her maternal grandparents about the past, Grandma Zhou thought for a moment and said, "Xiaxia, why don't you come live with us in the provincial capital?"
Shen Banxia shook her head.
Grandma Zhou was about to persuade her again when Old Zhou pulled her aside and looked at Chen Banxia kindly, "Xiaxia, your grandma and I have no other ideas. We just want you to be well. However, for the time being, let your grandma take care of you."
"Yes, Xiaxia," Grandma Zhou said, looking at her expectantly.
Shen Banxia couldn't bear to refuse her grandparents' good intentions.
Just then, Zhou Lao Er ran over in a panic, "Sister-in-law, please, please save my wife, she, she's bleeding."
When Shen Banxia arrived at Old Zhou's house, she saw her second sister-in-law's pants stained with blood and took her pulse. "The baby is gone."
Li Erya's eyes were vacant, and she looked like a walking corpse. Zhou Lao Er squatted down in pain, covering his face and sobbing, "Why?"
He had a premonition that this time it would be his son, but he was gone, and now he had nothing left.
Shen Banxia sighed inwardly, quickly prepared the medicine, fed her a life-saving pill, and was about to perform acupuncture when Li Erya dodged away, her lack of cooperation was obvious, and she even looked at Shen Banxia with a hint of wariness.
Shen Banxia isn't a despicable person. "She's injured and needs to take care of herself."
Li Erya suddenly stared intently at Shen Banxia's belly, "Sister-in-law, will I ever have another chance?"
"It depends on fate," Shen Banxia said, not giving a definitive answer.
"Really?" she said, then lowered her head again, staring blankly at the patched mosquito net.
However, Zhou's mother came in at some point. "Eldest daughter-in-law, are you sure you're not mistaken?"
Shen Banxia gave her a cold look, "I already told you to take the medicine to prevent miscarriage, and as for the other one, didn't I repeatedly tell you to rest?"
Zhou's mother was embarrassed.
With bloodshot eyes, Zhou Lao Er said, "Mother, are you satisfied now? I have no son, hahaha."
Zhou's mother shrank back, wondering why her second son was acting like a madman. "What's wrong with you?"
With red eyes, Zhou Lao Er said, "I really regret it. Why didn't I listen to my sister-in-law? It's all gone now, everything is gone."
"How can you blame me? It's your wife's fault for being careless. She even tripped and fell while cooking." No matter what, he couldn't bear the blame for harming his daughter-in-law.
"Mother, let's separate the family. Let's separate us. I'd rather have nothing like my eldest brother," Zhou Lao Er said, his voice tinged with exhaustion.
He hated himself for not listening to others.
"Second son, you, you unfilial son, do you really want me to die in front of you?" Zhou's mother used her familiar tactic again.
“Mother, if you go first, I’ll follow right behind you,” Zhou Lao Er said without a hint of a smile.
Zhou's mother was dumbfounded. Why did this method, which had always worked, stop working after a week?
She glared fiercely at Li Erya on the bed, but Li Erya didn't even look at her.
Looking at this farcical scene, Shen Banxia thought, "If only I had known this would happen, I wouldn't have done it in the first place."
She didn't regret giving her a life-saving pill, after all, her second sister-in-law's body had been depleted for many years, and then she suffered a miscarriage. Even an iron body couldn't withstand it, let alone her already frail body.
Looking at how devoted the couple is to their son, I wonder what will happen when they find out that Li Erya is infertile.
She had no intention of watching the confrontation between the mother and son; she finished what she needed to do and left.
When they got home, Zhou Mingqian had already returned, but his maternal grandparents hadn't come with them.
Looking at his wife's tired appearance, Zhou Mingqian felt sorry for her. "What's wrong, honey?" Although Er Gouzi was taking over the purchasing work, he had to go out to stock up on supplies many times because of the little field mouse's warning.
He always returned just before dark, and of course, he would tell others that he was looking for medicinal herbs for his wife.
Now, everyone in Zhoujiazhuang has witnessed Shen Banxia's superb medical skills.
"My second sister-in-law's child is gone."
Zhou Mingqian sighed, "The second brother can't get back on his feet, no matter what others say, it's useless."
“He proposed separating the family today,” Shen Banxia said.
Zhou Mingqian, however, was not optimistic; he knew his second son's personality better than anyone else.
Sure enough, there was no further news of Zhou Lao Er being separated from his original unit.
Then, Zhao Di, with obvious five-finger marks on her face, ran over crying, her face full of confusion, "Auntie, my mother has changed."
Shen Banxia pulled the little girl aside and first cleaned up the marks on her face. "What happened? Tell me slowly, don't cry."
“My mother said that if I hadn’t failed to help with the cooking, she wouldn’t have fallen, and if she hadn’t fallen, my brother wouldn’t have died. Did I really do something wrong, Aunt? But I reminded my mother, but she wouldn’t listen, and she wouldn’t let me help.”
Shen Banxia really didn't expect that Li Erya would blame Zhao Di for the incident.
"It's not your fault," Shen Banxia concluded directly. Of course, she had already explained everything. If others didn't understand, how could she not understand herself? She didn't know how to refuse Zhou's mother and insisted on cooking. Who else could she blame for falling down?
Perhaps because she had spoken out, Zhao Di felt much better. "Auntie, can I still come and learn medicine from you?"
She doesn't want to go back to that house at all now. She can tell that not only her mother blames her, but even her father blames her.
If it weren't for her two younger sisters not blaming her, she really wouldn't have known that this was how she would end up if she had to start over.
But, in her past life, did her mother also have a child? She didn't remember that.
