"Why are you here, Mrs. Zhou?" Shen Banxia had already given up hope, after all, so much time had passed since her last trip to the provincial capital, and it was almost November.
"I'm here to see a doctor." After the little girl accurately described her symptoms last time, she told Lao Zhou when she got home. He, who is always busy, took leave to accompany her to the capital.
"Please sit down," Shen Banxia said, pointing to the pulse diagnosis. "Extend your hand."
Mrs. Zhou was very cooperative.
“You’ve recovered well, but as you can see, the conditions here don’t allow for surgery,” Shen Banxia said frankly.
"Don't worry about the operating room."
"good".
Seeing Shen Banxia's confident demeanor, Madam Zhou was very curious about what kind of family she came from.
Old Zhou originally intended to investigate, but for a family like theirs, who knows whether the person they encountered was a human or a ghost?
But Madam Zhou still refused. They had already inquired in the capital and knew that this was a certain death situation for her.
She came here today partly because she was unwilling to die before finding the person, and partly because she felt a strange sense of familiarity with the young girl.
They were discussing the surgical plan and the follow-up care.
A large crowd had already gathered outside the clinic. They had never seen a car before, and the malted milk powder, pork, and canned goods in the net bags were incredibly tempting.
"Hey, tell me, who exactly are those old people? Why would they be dating Zhou Laoda's wife?" someone asked curiously.
"They must be here to see a doctor, otherwise why would they bring so many expensive things?"
"Goodness, is Zhou's wife really that amazing? People from the city are all coming to see her!" Some people simply couldn't believe it.
"Tsk tsk tsk, who knows? Oh dear, that lazy guy Zhou is basically living off his wife now. His wife is a doctor and can earn eight work points, while he, a grown man, only earns five."
...
The Zhou family.
Looking at Uncle Zhou and the others with great curiosity, Zhou's father asked, "Brother and sister-in-law, what's going on here?"
"I'm here with my old boss to take care of some business," Uncle Zhou said.
"Huh? Where are the others? Why didn't they come with us?" Zhou's father asked, looking at the group of only his eldest brother and sister-in-law.
"The old leaders and the others went to the clinic."
"What? The clinic? They went to see the eldest son's wife?" Zhou's father's voice was so loud it was almost split.
Uncle Zhou was also curious, "My eldest daughter-in-law is a doctor? I've never heard of that before."
Zhou's father then mentioned the barefoot doctor training program.
"Impossible, absolutely impossible. If he were just a barefoot doctor, why would the old leaders have specifically sought him out?" Uncle Zhou simply didn't believe it.
Zhou's mother chimed in, "I've never heard the eldest daughter-in-law mention before that her family are doctors."
Uncle Zhou thought about the current situation and wondered if there was something else going on.
If his former boss hadn't forbidden him from going along, he would have gone to check it out by now.
Zhou Mingjiao had no interest in listening to their talk about the leader's medical treatment. She pulled her aunt aside and told her about her relationship with Zhao Zhigao.
Aunt couldn't help but say, "You silly girl, how could you be so foolish? Don't you think about what the person you like will do after your reputation for being unable to speak for yourself gets out?"
Zhou Mingjiao's face turned deathly pale.
Seeing this, her aunt felt sorry for her and couldn't help but hug her.
She never had a daughter in her life, and treated her second son's daughter as her own.
Although there was a slight unpleasantness because of what happened last time, she is still a child I've loved for many years, so how could I bear to see her have a bad future?
“Mingjiao, listen to your aunt. Liking someone is too vague. After marriage, they are all pretty much the same. You should find someone who can make your life better, so you won’t regret it later.”
Auntie really cares about Zhou Mingjiao.
“Aunt, but I just can’t forget him. You know, I dream about him every time I have a dream. How could someone like me possibly fall in love with someone else?”
"Foolish child," the eldest aunt couldn't help but sigh.
"Tell your aunt who the person you like is, and I'll go and find out for you."
Zhou Mingjiao was overjoyed, "Auntie, really? You're really willing to help me?"
"Don't be too happy yet. I'm just asking around about that person for you." Although he genuinely treated Zhou Mingjiao like his own daughter, she wasn't his biological daughter after all, so he still had to consider the feelings of his second brother and the others.
Zhou Mingjiao pouted, "Auntie, can't you just find someone to match us up?"
"You, you can't rush things. I'd like to know which man has captivated our Jiaojiao so much."
Zhou Mingjiao covered her face, "He's really good, better than anyone thought."
"Who is it?"
Zhou Mingjiao leaned close to her aunt's ear and whispered a name.
"What? Him? Zhou Mingjiao, are you crazy?" The eldest aunt was dumbfounded; she simply couldn't believe what she was hearing.
“Aunt, do you know him? Do you have a problem with him just because he’s from Kagome’s group? That’s prejudice. You don’t understand him at all.”
“I don’t know him, and how much do you know about him? Do you know that he’s from the provincial capital, that he has unclear relationships with many girls, and that he—” He is also an illegitimate child.
She didn't reveal what happened next, as it was someone else's private matter.
"Impossible, he's not that kind of person, I've inquired about it."
During Shen Banxia's training period, she asked around and found out that he had no ambiguous relationships with other girls.
"You, you're so stubborn, you can't get involved with that person," the eldest aunt said, at a loss for words.
"Auntie, please help me," Zhou Mingjiao pleaded.
"No," the aunt refused firmly; that man was no pushover.
Zhou Mingjiao tried everything to persuade her aunt but couldn't convince her. She thought about how she had just heard that Su Yu was from the provincial capital, and also about her aunt's former boss.
"Auntie, what illness is Uncle's former boss here for?" Zhou Mingjiao inquired.
"Jiaojiao, this is not something you should inquire about."
"Auntie, I was just curious," Zhou Mingjiao said, her hair almost twisted into a braid.
Aunt Zhou also fell for this, "I don't know the specifics, but it seems that his wife is seriously ill."
"Then why did you come here? We don't have any famous doctors here." Zhou Mingjiao hadn't been listening carefully and had no idea that they were looking for Shen Banxia.
"They went to the clinic, probably to see your sister-in-law, right?" Aunt Zhou wasn't sure either, after all, how old was Shen Banxia?
She had heard that the old leader's wife had gone to the capital but still couldn't get better treatment, so how could Shen Banxia possibly be like that?
There's definitely a mistake!
Shen Banxia had no idea about her aunt's inner thoughts; they were having a small disagreement at the moment.
