Chapter 60 What are parents?

Shen Banxia had no idea that even a normal patient-doctor relationship could be interpreted by others as something else.

Seeing that Su Yu was still not planning to leave, Shen Banxia said directly, "Is there anything else for the time being? Go and get the medicine first."

Seeing that he was about to speak, Shen Banxia interrupted, "I don't have all the Chinese medicines here."

"How often should acupuncture be performed?" Su Yu was now very concerned about this question.

"During the course of medication, it is best to take it once a day, and then adjust the prescription and the frequency of acupuncture as needed."

Su Yu nodded to indicate that he understood. "In that case, I'll go back to the county town first and arrange the follow-up matters with you."

Shen Banxia was quite happy. As for Madam Zhou, she would make other plans later.

After Zhou Mingqian returned, Shen Banxia told him about it directly.

Zhou Mingqian curled his lip in disdain. "I knew that guy was no good. But he's not entirely useless. By the way, honey, Grandma told me to tell you that she left something for you, something you're familiar with."

"That's it?" Shen Banxia was dumbfounded.

"Yes, the situation was urgent at the time. Kagome was being watched by someone, so we didn't dare say too much. Grandma said you know."

"Okay," Shen Banxia really didn't have a clue for the time being.

But it doesn't matter, since Su Yu is going to help anyway. As for the person behind it, she doesn't believe that their influence can reach all the way to Zhoujiazhuang.

Putting everything else aside, Su Yu has to rely on himself right now, so this can be considered a backup plan. As for the other option, Madam Zhou's side is another way.

"By the way, how's the investigation into that thing going?" Shen Banxia couldn't let it go.

"There are still no leads," Zhou Mingqian said anxiously.

"Take your time," Shen Banxia said, knowing Zhou Mingqian's thoughts. She turned to talk about preparing things, "Now that we've moved to this clinic, we definitely need basic things like pots and pans. In addition, the most important thing is food. You know what the little field mouse said, so we need to prepare even more things."

“I plan to talk to my parents and ask them to distribute the grain to us according to the number of people.”

Shen Banxia was not optimistic, but she did not stop it.

During their break from work, the couple went to the Zhou family's house.

Zhou's mother said with a sneer, "What? Can't make ends meet anymore? Planning to come back? Let me tell you, no way."

Zhou Mingqian said calmly, "Mother, we've come to collect grain."

Zhou's mother immediately bristled, "Don't even think about it. With your meager work points, you would have already eaten them all."

"Mother, have you forgotten that I secretly gave it to you? Wasn't that payment for work points?"

Zhou's mother choked, thinking of all the things that had happened in the past, and roared in a low voice, "Zhou Mingqian, how dare you bring this up? Do you know that because of what you did, I can't sleep at night? I'm afraid that one day I'll go to the fence house to see you, and I'm even more afraid that you will implicate our whole family."

"Mom, why didn't you say anything when you took the money? Weren't you happy then? Besides, I remember Grandpa and Grandma left me money, saying it was for me to get married, but you didn't give it to me then, did you?"

Zhou's mother looked uneasy. "Isn't that because you're capable?"

"Yes, I'm capable. I got married myself, and my second and third brothers got married with money from their families."

Zhou's mother became increasingly uncomfortable. "You're the eldest brother, what's wrong with giving in to your younger brothers?"

Zhou Mingqian hated these kinds of words the most in his life: "Does being born earlier mean I should die? Does being born earlier mean I should give way to them? Does being born earlier mean I owe them something?"

He really doesn't understand, is being the boss an inherent sin?

"You, you, eldest brother, don't you think about it? You were born a few years earlier, so you probably enjoyed more happiness than your brothers. Back then, your grandparents were very capable people. You ate well and dressed well, so what more could you ask for?"

"So, because my grandparents like me, you parents don't care about me?"

Zhou's mother didn't want to continue this matter. "Then what do you want? I gave birth to you and raised you, am I a sinner?"

Zhou Mingqian smiled wryly; it always ended like this.

He thought that when his child was born, he would never say such things. He brought the child into this world out of love, and he would not use the obligation to raise the child as a pretext to keep bringing it up.

Everyone comes into this world as an independent person, or so my wife said.

I couldn't understand it before, but I've come to terms with it now.

Sometimes he wondered if, like Nezha, he could return his bones to his father and his flesh to his mother, and only then would everything be answered. Zhou Mingqian had no idea.

He looked at his father, who remained silent, and asked, "Father, is that what you mean too?"

"Boss, you two should come back and stay here. We're all family. If you act so distant, outsiders will laugh at us."

Zhou Mingqian shook his head.

Zhou's father's anger flared up instantly. "Zhou Mingqian, you've really grown up! As the eldest brother, do you want to separate from the family? Don't you even want to support your father and mother anymore? Huh?"

The village's long-standing custom is to rely on the eldest son's family for old age. But these past few days, people have been coming every day. Is the Zhou family going to split up?

Mr. Zhou felt that he was losing face in the whole village.

"Father, Banxia and I never meant that. Isn't this Mother's idea? Banxia is pregnant, and you want to drive her away. She encountered a poisonous snake, and you acted as if nothing happened. Not one of you even asked about it. Sometimes, I really want to ask, are you my real parents?"

"Snap," and the world went silent.

“You good-for-nothing, what are you saying? Huh? I think your mother is right. You’ve been corrupted by your wife. You disrespect your parents, don’t care for your younger siblings, you’re selfish, cold-hearted, and inhuman,” Zhou’s father said in one breath.

Zhou Mingqian was taken aback, pulled his wife aside, and gently shook his head.

"Dad, so this is how you see me."

"Hmph, I think you've been spoiled by your grandparents, and you don't know what's good for you."

Zhou's mother chimed in, "Eldest son, your father is about to be driven mad by you, and you still won't admit your mistake?"

Zhou Mingqian's eyes were bloodshot. "Mother, how do you want me to admit my mistake?"

Zhou's mother thought Zhou Mingqian had given in, so she said, "You should ask your sister to give up your wife's job at the county hospital. Also, didn't Director Ge Wei approach your wife? See if you can arrange something for your fourth brother. He found a girl from the county town to date, and our Zhou family can't lose face."

Zhou's mother had planned everything out, and Zhou's father acquiesced to the outcome.

Shen Banxia was truly amazed. She used to think that Zhou's parents treated Zhou Mingqian fairly well, but now it seems that the eldest son is the family's workhorse and blood pot.

Zhou Mingqian laughed, his laughter growing louder and louder, but Banxia could feel the endless pain within his laughter.

But Zhou's mother said, "What's wrong with you? Did you hear what I said?"
