"Jiang Xiu."
When Jiang Xiu heard someone calling his name, he paused in his steps.
The girl stood under the streetlight, the streetlights seemed to favor her, shining on her and giving her a holy glow, pure and aloof, like a snow lotus blooming on the Tianshan Mountains, untouchable and unattainable.
He had no time to appreciate the beauty; his mind was preoccupied with being late.
He noticed that she wasn't accompanied by her bodyguard, and couldn't help but frown.
This is a bar street.
There are all kinds of people.
Does she know that it's dangerous for someone to be alone?
The thought had barely crossed her mind when she saw two drunken men, arms around each other's shoulders, walking towards her: "Beautiful lady, want a drink?"
One of them was talking while simultaneously trying to make a move.
Just as the man's hand was about to touch her, Jiang Xiu came to her senses and found herself already gripping the man's wrist.
The man instantly regained consciousness, crying out in pain.
Jiang Xiu let go of his hand.
The two men, realizing he was not someone to be trifled with and unwilling to cause trouble, slunk away.
Jiang Xiu pursed his lips, looked at the girl who seemed unafraid, and said coldly, "This place is chaotic, don't stay here alone."
He was about to leave after saying that.
Qin Yue raised her hand to block his way and took out a business card from her bag: "I've already spoken to the bar for you. You don't need to go on stage today. I'll pay your salary. Would you mind taking twenty minutes of your time to talk?"
She didn't mention that she had been waiting for him there for half an hour.
Qin's father was very efficient and had already selected an entertainment company facing bankruptcy. The company was fully equipped and negotiations were underway.
Once the basic information about the other company is thoroughly investigated and no hidden problems are found, an agreement can be signed, and the final step of the change procedure can be carried out.
When the boy heard that she had already greeted them, his anxious heart calmed down a little, and a sense of gratitude arose in his heart.
I kept my job.
What might be just a matter of a word for her could be a matter of life and death for him.
He didn't even glance at the business card, looked directly into her eyes, and said apologetically, "I'm just a singer, I only perform for money."
Qin Yue: "..."
Did he think he was being asked to sell himself?
Before Qin Yue could speak, she heard the sound of a phone camera taking a picture.
She frowned and turned around to look.
She saw the boy hurriedly putting away his phone. He straightened up, raised his hand to greet her, and forced a smile: "Hi, Sister Yue, what a coincidence! I thought I was seeing things."
Fang Sheng.
Qin Xu's childhood friend, so close they could practically share a pair of pants.
Her gaze was fixed on Fang Sheng's phone.
Fang Sheng was startled and quickly explained, "I didn't recognize you when I saw your back, so I wanted to take a picture and send you a message to ask if I had mistaken you for someone else."
That's obviously a half-hearted excuse.
Qin Yue: "Now that you know it was me, delete it."
"Oh, okay." He said, while looking down to delete the photos on his phone. As he approached, he subtly sized up Jiang Xiu. "Sister Yue, who is this?"
Qin Yue didn't intend to introduce them to him, but pointed to the people who were obviously waiting for him not far away: "Are those your friends? They're still waiting for you, go on."
"Sister Yue, would you like to come along?" Fang Sheng asked.
She didn't know if her good brother Qin Xu was too good at hiding his feelings, or if she was just a careless person, but she never knew how Qin Xu felt about her.
It wasn't until he saw the edited video about Qin Xu and Qin Yue being forwarded in the group that he vaguely realized something was wrong.
Now that he knew his good brother's intentions, he felt he should help him.
So when I heard Qin Yue's conversation with the boy, my first thought wasn't whether it was right or wrong, but that they were going to be together, and what would happen to Qin Xu?
He must stop it.
Qin Yue shook her head and refused: "I have something to do."
"You can bring your friends..."
Qin Yue interrupted him, "No, you should go now. We can get together another time."
Fang Sheng reluctantly agreed.
He left, looking back every few steps.
Qin Yue ignored Fang Sheng.
His gaze was fixed intently on Jiang Xiu.
There seemed to be a hint of helplessness in her clear eyes.
"I think you've misunderstood something. I'm a law-abiding citizen."
Jiang Xiu was taken aback, then belatedly realized that she was answering his question.
He couldn't tell whether what she said was true or false.
He pursed his lips and followed her words, saying, "I'm sorry, I thought..."
He simply couldn't bring himself to say the rest.
Qin Yue indicated her understanding: "So, could I take up twenty minutes of your time?"
Jiang Xiu hesitated for a few seconds, then got into the car with her.
Consider it repaying her for helping me keep my job.
Meanwhile, Fang Sheng retrieved the photos he had deleted and sent them to someone.
In the photo, Jiang Xiu's face is clearly visible.
After thinking for a moment, he organized his thoughts: Qin Xu, I just saw your sister at the entrance of the bar. She was talking to a guy, and the guy seemed to be saying something about selling his art, not his body.
Jiang Xiu was not at all surprised that he agreed.
He is a person with dreams, but whose steps are held back by reality.
Once his problems are solved, he will naturally be able to consider his dreams.
Holding the card, Jiang Xiu still felt a sense of unreality.
We have the money for my mother's chemotherapy.
She will help him hire a caregiver to look after his mother.
He does not need to take a leave of absence from school.
All you need to do is sign a five-year contract with her.
He wondered if she was a fraud.
But he quickly dismissed the idea.
