Chapter 39 A World Apart

An orphan who doesn't know who his parents are.

Back then, the Qin family elders felt that she lacked playmates and wanted to adopt a child from an orphanage.

This is how they, who were worlds apart, finally came together.

They didn't choose him; they chose a girl.

At just five years old, he realized that by following them, he could have a good life.

He deliberately rushed to their side, showing them the wounds on his body, and cried, begging them to take him away.

It was she who spoke up and brought him back to the Qin family.

When he first arrived at the Qin family, he was extremely careful and tried to please them, not daring to make any mistakes.

It was also because of her, as his older sister, that he felt a great sense of security.

Protect him, think of him.

Be good to him.

The problem might only arise if you're not tempted.

Humans can never be satisfied.

After she went abroad, he thought that as long as she was willing to come back, he would ask for nothing more.

Hide the feelings that shouldn't exist.

But what if she really comes back?

She was still not satisfied with only being able to be her younger brother.

One test after another.

His agent sent him a message.

The casting for the previously promised fantasy IP adaptation of the novel is basically in place, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will be cast as the lead actor, while Jiang Qingtang will be cast as the female lead.

The company's intention is for him to be paired with Jiang Qingtang in this dating reality show.

There is no need to establish a relationship with external parties.

All they need is for the two of them to have more contact and interaction on the show.

The production team has already given instructions.

They'll get more screen time.

Anyone with eyes can tell who he truly likes.

The agent had intended to persuade him to agree through earnest persuasion.

To my surprise, he readily agreed.

Isn't his sister hoping he can find someone he likes on the show?

Now she can rest assured.

Qin Yue returned to her room and casually tossed the jewelry box into a drawer.

My birthday happens to be on a Saturday.

She messaged Lu Yanci, asking if he was free on Saturday.

Five minutes later, the other party replied: There are no plans for Saturday.

Qin Yue scrolled up and looked through their chat history from the past few days.

We don't chat very often.

But basically, after she sends a message, the other party will reply within three to five minutes.

Qin Yue: I'd like to invite Mr. Lu to dinner on Saturday. I wonder if Mr. Lu would do me the honor?

She hasn't given him the thank-you gift she bought him a few days ago.

The man sitting in the office chair put on his glasses and glanced at the diary on the table.

A triangle was marked below Saturday.

He knew perfectly well that Saturday was her birthday.

The gift he had ordered for her wouldn't be ready until tomorrow, and he was still thinking about how to give it to her when she invited him to dinner on Saturday.

Lu Yanci: The injury on your foot?

Qin Yue: I can already run and jump.

When Lu Yanci saw the message, his brows furrowed in disapproval. He tapped his phone screen intently, typing a long message before deleting it all just before sending it.

That's not the right way to reply.

What if she thinks I'm using her foot injury as an excuse and refuses to accept the invitation?

Lu Yanci: Hmm, what time?

Qin Yue: It depends on President Lu's schedule.

Lu Yanci: I'll come pick you up at six o'clock this afternoon?

It shouldn't be a problem for him to pick her up.

Qin Yue: Then I'll trouble you.

Thinking back to the times I've seen her, she's always wearing a pair of beautiful high heels. I sent a message to my assistant asking them to prepare a pair of flat shoes to put in the car.

For my previous birthdays, I just had a meal with friends.

This year, Zhou Jiahe and the others didn't bring it up. Even when they knew she had injured her foot, they didn't mention her birthday when they came to see her last time, and she didn't bring it up either.

So she assumed that everyone had forgotten about it over the years and didn't take it to heart, so she specially chose Saturday to invite Lu Yanci to dinner.

However, Saturday arrived.

Zhou Jiahe gave her a big surprise.

As soon as midnight struck, many friends sent her birthday wishes.

She only saw it this morning.

I had just replied to Zhou Jiahe when the other party called.

They said the venue was set up for the evening.

It was in Fu Tingshen's bar.

I'll go pick her up at 6 PM.

What a coincidence!

There was also a time conflict.

Qin Yue pinched the bridge of her nose: "I've already made plans with someone."

"Who?" the other person exclaimed in surprise, then said with heartache, "No way, no way, it's your birthday, and you're not spending it with me? Who are you going to spend it with? Am I still your dearest and most beloved baby?"

Qin Yue: "...Yes, yes, you are my dearest darling. How about we put it at noon?"

"No way." Zhou Jiahe snorted twice. "The atmosphere is only good at night. What's fun to do at noon? Who are you going with? Do I even know them? Can't we invite them along? Or we can come to you."

Qin Yue sighed: "I'll ask them what they mean first, and I'll call you back later."

Qin Yue briefly explained the situation, and then said: I'm sorry, it's my problem. If you mind, I can refuse my friend.

The other party was very easy to talk to, replying: It's nothing, I'll still come pick you up at six o'clock, and we'll go together then.

Although he said he would prefer to be alone with the two of them.

But the opportunity to get to know her friends is even rarer.

Integrating into her circle of friends means taking another step closer to her.

Qin Yue sent a message to Zhou Jiahe: You don't need to come pick me up. We'll go together when it's time.

Zhou Jiahe: Okay [flying kiss][flying kiss]
