On the streets of Qingshi Town
Jiang Sheng was strolling on the street with his men. Seeing that the weather was getting colder, he was about to return to Beihuang to buy some local specialties, otherwise his younger sister would make a fuss if she saw him returning empty-handed.
Yang Er and Yang San followed obediently behind him, holding things in their hands and hanging things on their arms.
"I want this, this."
Seeing his generosity, the vendor was very enthusiastic: "Look here, sir. This stone is not an ordinary stone. It is sparkling like this when it is opened."
"There are many colors that depend on luck. They will look great as bracelets or hairpins after they bloom."
Jiang Sheng squatted down and touched it. It was indeed sparkling in the sunlight, but it was different from a night pearl. It was indeed interesting.
Just as he was about to buy, a voice came from above: "How dare you, you liar, come here to cheat people again. Sir, don't listen to him. The stones here are all fake."
"This vendor opened it, but the other stones were just picked up at random. My young master bought them all before, and he didn't open any of them."
The vendor raised his head and glanced at me, a fierce look flashing in his eyes: "It's you again. If you can't open it, it's just bad luck. How can you blame me?"
"Look, the green, purple, and red colors that Xiaode has bloomed can't be fake, right? Don't just say it casually..."
Before he could finish his words, the squatting young man took out a bottle and poured something directly on the stone. After washing off the layer of color, it looked like an ordinary stone.
Jiang Sheng chuckled softly and looked at him indifferently: "How dare you cheat people on the street? Everything you put out is just painted and polished."
"If I hadn't looked carefully, I would have been fooled. Yang Er, go report this to the police and have them arrested."
"It would be a shame to save you from cheating people again in the future."
When the vendor heard this, he turned around and ran away without even caring about the stones on his stall.
Jiang Sheng stood up and looked at him.
The two looked at each other in surprise and said in unison: "Why is it you!"
Jiang Wanwan blushed, feeling a little embarrassed. "What a coincidence, brother! I didn't expect to see you here. Thank you for the wild grapes last time. My mother loves them."
"Come on, I'll treat you to a meal at Qianweiju. The food there is very good. By the way, I'll ask if I can buy some wild grapes from you."
"To be honest, my mother is pregnant now. She throws up everything she eats, but she loves those wild grapes. I've been looking for someone to buy them for her, but unfortunately, I can't find any."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Sheng readily agreed: "Okay, thank you very much, little brother. I'll have someone deliver the wild grapes tomorrow, and I'll dig up two seedlings for you to plant back home."
Seeing that he agreed so readily, Jiang Wanwan's eyes curved, "Yes, yes, brother, come with me."
A few people came to the window seat on the second floor. When they opened the window, they could see the street direction and the lake on the other side. It was a rare room with a good view.
"I booked this a long time ago. It's usually very comfortable to come here and enjoy the fresh air. Brother Yang, please take a seat."
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the piles of things and wondered, "Brother Yang, why did you buy so many things? Are you going to give them as gifts?"
Jiang Sheng chuckled softly and said frankly, "Not entirely. I'm going home in a few days and I'm preparing some local specialties for my family to spend the New Year reunion with them."
When Jiang Wanwan heard that he was leaving, she felt inexplicably upset. It was rare to meet someone she could talk to, and now he was leaving. She didn't know if he would come back in the future.
"Will Brother Yang come back in the future?"
"Well, of course I have to go back. I still have an orchard here. When the fruits grow, I will make preserved fruits. Naturally, I need people to help me. I'd better go home now while I have nothing to do."
The waiter came upstairs quickly and said respectfully, "My dear lords, what would you like to order?"
Jiang Wanwan waved her hand and said generously, "Give me one portion of all the signature dishes here. Go ahead."
"Yes, Mr. Jiang."
The waiter went downstairs and closed the door. The two sat facing each other and drank tea. Jiang Wanwan looked out the window. She didn't know what she saw, but her face darkened. After she looked carefully and saw who it was, her face turned even darker.
She pursed her lips with a complicated look in her eyes. Why would her father go to the lake, and go to the lake with other women?
Jiang Sheng saw that his face looked strange, so he followed his line of sight and saw a large lake. There were people standing in groups of three or four by the lake, and it was unclear what they were talking about.
Jiang Wanwan regained her composure, suppressed her emotions, poured him a cup of tea, and said, "Brother Yang, I haven't asked you where you're from yet?"
"Oh, I'm from the capital, but I'm doing business in the Northern Wilderness now."
"I see. Judging from Brother Yang's accent, he's from the capital. I've always heard that the capital is prosperous. I wonder how prosperous it is compared to here."
Jiang Sheng thought for a moment and said something slowly.
Jiang Wanwan listened attentively, her eyes full of longing, thinking how nice it would be if she could go and take a look someday. Then she heard the other party say that there was a major earthquake in the capital and everything was reduced to ruins.
The corners of his mouth twitched, and he said helplessly: "Brother Yang, if you put it that way, I don't want to go to the capital anymore."
"Haha, there's really no need to go. The capital is just three steps away from high-ranking officials. You might offend someone without even realizing it. It's actually not as comfortable as living in the Northern Wilderness."
The two chatted casually and became more and more interested.
Soon the food arrived. Jiang Wanwan looked at Yang Er and Yang San, who were standing, and said, "I ordered a table full of dishes for you too. Come sit down and eat together. Standing is so tiring."
Yang Er and Yang San raised their heads and waved their hands: "No, that's not necessary. Master Jiang, take your time eating. We can find something to eat later."
"Hey, we're already out here, why be so polite? There's food on the table behind the screen too, let's all eat together. There's no need to be so particular when we're out and about."
“……!!”
Jiang Sheng raised his lips slightly and said softly, "Yang Er and Yang San, Master Jiang has already said not to be so formal. Sit down and eat."
"Yes, sir."
Jiang Wanwan grinned at this. "Hey, that's right. I don't like people who are too reserved. Brother Yang, you're different from those people in the capital. They like to put on airs when they come here."
"Yeah, maybe it's because I'm often away from home and don't like to talk about those rules. I still have to talk about the rules when I get home."
"Well, then Brother Yang, when are you leaving? I'll see you off then."
Seeing his enthusiasm, Jiang Sheng smiled and said softly, "Wait a few days, and go back after you've arranged everything. Brother Jiang, there's no need to go to such trouble to send you off."
"I'll be back after the New Year. I'll treat Brother Jiang to a couple of drinks then. We can go to the mountains to play if we have nothing to do. There are many delicious wild fruits in the mountains in the spring."
Jiang Wanwan's eyes slowly dimmed as she pondered something. "After the New Year...if I don't get married and move out, I'm afraid it will be difficult for me to leave the house if I do get married."
This world is unfair to women. After getting married, they are locked up in the backyard. They can't come out whenever they want, let alone drink with other men.
