Chapter 155 The Little Rabbit is Released from its Cage, but Dies Halfway Through
With the Spring Festival approaching, the streets were covered in snow. Today's temperature was higher than yesterday, and some of the snow and ice on the streets had melted, making the entire road surface wet and slippery.
Inside the car, Wen Yanyu looked at the message on her phone from 4 a.m. and rubbed her ears several times.
[Jiang Wanrou: Baby, Auntie sees your IP address is in Xia Country, does that mean you're back?]
[Jiang Wanrou: Baby, would it be convenient for you to come to Auntie's house? Auntie wants to talk to you about something. If you're busy, would it be alright if I could come over to your place?]
Wen Yanyu repeatedly opened several voice messages, playing them countless times. The voice messages contained the woman's voice, which she tried hard to remain calm but could not.
The car slowly came to a stop at the entrance of the residential area.
The familiar name of the neighborhood came into view outside the window.
arrive.
Wen Yanyu turned her head to look at the driver's seat and the two people beside her, her eyes sweeping over them for help.
Fu Zhiyan reached out and grasped his hand; the icy temperature of the hand perfectly eased the discomfort caused by Wen Yanyu's tension.
"We'll wait for you here," Fu Hanchuan said in a deep voice.
Wen Yanyu nodded, opened the door, and got out of the car.
He walked in a hurry, staggered a couple of steps after leaving the house, glanced back at the two people in the car, and then continued walking towards the residential area.
Wen Yanyu's figure disappeared.
"How much time do you have left?" Fu Hanchuan glanced back, his gaze casually sweeping over Fu Zhiyan's arm. "Have you thought about how to explain this to Yan Yan?"
Fu Zhiyan paused, then awkwardly tugged at her sleeve to cover her wrist, which was nearing ossification.
"I'm going to other worlds to do missions."
"The flow of time is different."
Fu Hanchuan was silent for a moment, then asked, "Will he believe me?"
Fu Zhiyan glanced out the window. "I don't have any time left."
The snow crunched underfoot, and laughter echoed through the neighborhood during the holiday.
After greeting the security guard at the gate, Wen Yanyu entered the residential area.
As soon as she stepped through the gate, a gust of wind accompanied by fine snow rushed in. Wen Yanyu subconsciously closed her eyes, but some of the fine snow still managed to get into them.
I opened my eyes again.
The sounds around me disappeared, and the usually bustling neighborhood became eerily quiet.
Why is everyone gone...?
Suddenly alerted by the presence of the unknown and unusual, Wen Yanyu stopped in her tracks and gently paused her breathing.
The gale swept in again.
Two rabbits were huddled in a cage eating hay by the floor-to-ceiling window of a high-rise apartment building.
Qin Chengzhi paced back and forth on the balcony, occasionally glancing down at the obscured view of the building below. The cigarette in his hand was soaked with sweat and looked terrible.
Jiang Wanrou sat on the sofa, her legs shaking uncontrollably, repeatedly kneading the report that she had read many times.
"He was so young, why did we forget him?"
As the appointed time drew closer, Jiang Wanrou bit her lip, tears streaming down her face, accompanied by hoarse sobs that she couldn't stop.
The little rabbit in the cage twitched its ears slightly, picked up a piece of dry grass, and slowly crawled out of the cage, moving to the woman's feet, back and forth, until there was a nest of dry grass.
The little rabbit gazed at the woman before it through its teary, watery eyes.
Jiang Wanrou picked up the rabbit with trembling hands.
Another white rabbit slowly raised its head, about to follow its companion out of the cage, when the half-open cage door slammed down and hit it on the head, knocking it unconscious inside the cage.
At the foot of the snow-capped mountain, charcoal crackled and burned in the fire.
Wen Yanyu curled up, her head buried in the chains. Her coat had been torn in the struggle and was no match for the cold wind.
Wen Yanyu's face was deathly pale, and he was curled up in a ball. His legs were trembling from the cold, and his hands and feet were bound by ropes. He could only struggle and instinctively move his body closer to the fire.
The crisp sound of an apple being bitten and the man's warm breath brushing against her ear.
Wen Yanyu stopped what she was doing, stiff and not daring to move.
Seeing this, Jun Changmo smiled and his eyes crinkled. The rabbit-shaped silver lock on his chest fell down with his movement, brushing past Wen Yanyu's ear and giving the person below him goosebumps.
Wen Yanyu closed her eyes tightly, unconsciously shrinking her body, and even stopped breathing.
Until the sound of breathing disappeared from my ears.
Jun Changmo casually tossed the apple into the fire.
"haven't seen you for a long time."
"Yan Yan?"
Jun Changmo chuckled lightly, as if in childlike play, mimicking the tone of his voice from his memory, gentle and soft.
