Chapter 134 Falling into the Water

Chapter 134 Falling into the Water

Before Wen Yanyu could speak, Jiang Wanrou spoke first: "I remember there used to be a patch of mushrooms up ahead, but it rained these past two days, so new ones should be growing now."

Jiang Wanrou offered a way out.

Wen Yanyu gave the man a few perfunctory words, then ran off to Jiang Wanrou's side, ignoring Sang Huai Ren.

The two carried bamboo baskets and walked towards the area where there might be mushrooms.

Seeing this, Sang Yu turned her head to look at Sang Huai Ren, who was still standing in the same place, but hesitated for only a second.

"Xiaoyu, what are you standing there for? Come here." Jiang Wanrou called out, turning around and beckoning.

Sang Yu quickly caught up with the two people ahead.

As Jiang Wanrou had said, sure enough, there was a large patch of wild mushrooms ahead. After the safety instructor confirmed it, the group squatted down and picked the mushrooms.

There were quite a few mushrooms growing scattered along the way.

We came to the end.

The sound of flowing water could be heard.

The group stopped in their tracks.

A river blocked our way. The river was not wide, and the water was very clear, so that we could clearly see the stones and sand at the bottom. However, the current was extremely rapid.

The vegetation on the other side of the river was significantly more lush than on their side, and there were several palm-sized oyster mushrooms growing under the trees along the riverbank. Just looking at them made my hands inexplicably itch.

Jiang Wanrou glanced at the distance to the river and then tested the water temperature.

Make a decisive U-turn.

"We've picked enough, let's go back."

After glancing at the river, Sang Yu and Wen Yanyu nodded simultaneously, preparing to head back home.

Sang Huai-ren stood still and instead reached out to test the lake water. "This river isn't deep. I think we can wade across."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Wanrou lifted her basket, showing off the basket full of mushrooms, and said, "There are only two days left. This is more than enough to eat. It's so cold now, we'll get sick if we wade across."

Sang Yu chimed in support: "That's right, Brother Lu and the others should have caught some fish. We'll be heading back the day after tomorrow morning."

After observing the water flow and riverbed, Wen Yanyu rubbed his burning eyes and said, "This water only looks clear; it's not shallow at the bottom. It just rained in the last two days, and the rocks are very slippery."

"There's no need."

Wen Yanyu rejected Sang Huai Ren's proposal.

My cold wasn't fully cured, and even though the temperature wasn't low, it was still winter. After being in the cold for more than two hours, the discomfort started to return.

Wen Yanyu's eyes were red and her voice was hoarse. "I feel a little unwell. Let's go back and get some rest."

Jiang Wanrou turned her head and glanced at Wen Yanyu.

I have to leave immediately.

[My bunny's face is all red, has she caught a cold again? Let's go home now, don't keep my little bunny bothered!]

[Waaaaah, but I really wanted to see them cross the river to pick mushrooms! The river doesn't look deep at all; they could just roll up their pants and cross!]

[Wow, a kid living in the mountains says that this kind of river looks shallow, but it's actually much deeper, and the rocks are incredibly slippery—it could be fatal.]

[Even if you don't drown, you'll freeze to death, haha. The production team isn't so malicious as to want all the guests to have severe colds.]

[It's a one-man show on Dog Bro's side, where he's carrying the whole team, while on Rabbit Treasure's side, everyone's just leisurely picking mushrooms.]

Having been refuted countless times along the way, and now being contradicted again, Sang Huai-ren's eyes flashed with displeasure, and his expression darkened completely.

"The production team brought us here to challenge ourselves, and now we're going to give up just because we've encountered a small river?"

The man's words had barely left his mouth.

The three of them were stunned at the same time.

They looked at each other in bewilderment.

When did the production team say that?

【Wait, what's this uncle doing? Why is he bringing up value again?】

[Did he mix up his lines, haha? I think this is a line from a challenge variety show he recorded before. Help! This guy always manages to come up with something amazing.]

[Production Team: We didn't, we didn't, don't talk nonsense. We just want buzz, we don't really want you to risk your lives. We can't afford to pay for it, we really can't.]

[I've discovered that Sang Huai-ren actually has a rebuttal personality. He doesn't really want to go to the other side; he just doesn't want to be contradicted or resisted, hahaha.]

This guy is really only good at pre-recorded broadcasts; he's incredibly stupid when he's live, and he's messed up a few times during pre-recorded broadcasts.

As they pondered...

The words had already been spoken, and although no one refuted them, his cheeks were burning. He glanced at the narrow riverbed and didn't take the river seriously.

Sang Huai-ren rolled up his trousers and stepped one leg into the river. Instantly, a bone-chilling cold spread from his feet to his thighs.

The man involuntarily shivered. There was something on the stones under his feet that felt like stepping on bars of soap, making it difficult to maintain his balance. Once he finally managed to stand up, there was no turning back.

Sang Huai-ren gritted his teeth and slowly moved towards the other side of the river.

Sang Yu was stunned, her face turning deathly pale with fright.

"Dad! Come back quickly!"

The safety officer, who was focused on filming, was startled and hurriedly shouted for the man to come up quickly.

Sang Huai-ren, however, seemed not to hear him and continued to move laboriously in the river.

The river water kept crashing against my legs, especially in the middle of the riverbed, where every step was extremely difficult, and my body swayed under the combined force of the biting cold and the current.

For a moment, no one dared to speak again.

She was afraid of disturbing the man.

Finally, Sang Huai-ren successfully made it ashore.

The man turned his head, ignoring his already pale face, and gave them a smug smile. "I told you this river would be easy, didn't I? I have experience. You just wait there."

[Okay, this guy is really skilled, awesome.]

[Where are the haters who were just blabbing? Come out and say something! This person is indeed talented and successful. I don't understand why they attack someone just because they're a bit straightforward. It's really speechless.]

No, but this is really dangerous!

Why did he come back?

After saying that, Sang Huai-ren turned around and picked mushrooms and wild vegetables on the other side of the riverbank until his backpack was full.

Sang Huai-ren was about to cross the river again.

The safety officer frantically shouted for him to stop and told him to stay there.

Sang Huai-ren frowned, ignored him, and went down into the river by himself.

But when his lower body, already numb from the cold, came into contact with the river again, his feet cramped up, and Sang Huai-ren cried out in alarm as he instantly fell into the river.
