When Qian Youxue emerged from the new array eye, she saw Leng Qing and Leng Yu searching for them nearby.
"Look, Miss!" Yunhe said, pulling Mei'er behind the bushes.
When Mei saw the two maids, she muttered, "Master, it seems that the Prince is still very worried about you, so he sent them out."
snort!
Qian Youxue snorted coldly. Was that guy afraid she would run away?
She pursed her lips, feeling a bit sorry for the two girls, but she didn't intend to let them come along. After all, some things were better left unsaid.
"Let's go!" She glanced at the direction on the map and led the two maids into the woods in another direction.
Leng Qing and Leng Yu, who were not far away, soon realized that they were not only lost, but had also fallen into a strange loop. They were walking around in the same jungle and probably wouldn't be able to get out anytime soon.
As Qian Youxue and her group entered the forest, they were greeted by a nauseating stench of corpses. Baal said that a group of bounty hunters had recently arrived, and that they were the inner cores of the Wind Wolves. The killings in the forest had been heavy in the past few nights, so he instructed his brothers to only plunder the outermost layer of the forest and not to go into that area.
Unfortunately, they came here specifically for training, so naturally they headed for the most dangerous places. And, thanks to Baal's reminder, they all became more vigilant.
ah……
A piercing scream shattered the silence of the forest, followed by a sharp, agonizing cry from nearby, accompanied by a strong, strange odor in the air.
"Master, it's a Wind Wolf!" Yunhe guessed from the scent that what appeared ahead must be a Wind Wolf.
When she and the young master came in before, the wind wolves they encountered were not of high level. The fact that they cried out so tragically could only mean that the people who came in were not capable of courting death.
Qian Youxuexin was halfway through her journey. She had encountered high-level opponents before, so she was still somewhat worried. She glanced back at Mei'er, took out several packets of powder from her person, and handed them to her: "Take these. If you encounter a powerful one, throw them out and run."
"Miss, if you give me everything, what will you use?" Mei waved her hands repeatedly.
"Take it if it's given to you. Miss has something to protect herself." Yunhe knew that her master must have other treasures on her, but she just didn't tell them.
Hearing Yunhe's words, Qian Youxue confirmed her suspicions. Yunhe probably knew she had other spatial treasures, but she knew she couldn't hide it from Yunhe for long.
After calming herself down, she led the two of them onward for a while. Before long, there was a lot of blood on the ground, it was hard to tell whether it was human or animal blood. Further on, several severed arms were thrown by the roadside, the bloody sight was gruesome.
"Look, there it is!" Yunhe pointed ahead.
Following the direction Yunhe pointed, a wind wolf over a meter tall was being attacked by two men. One man was stabbing the wind wolf in a vital spot with a sword, while the other man's hand was in mid-air, his face showing great pain. With a sudden exertion, a rope woven from spiritual energy in the man's hand looped around the wind wolf's neck, strangling it and causing the wind wolf to open its bloody maw.
Taking advantage of Fenglang's struggle, another man plunged his sword into Fenglang's chest. Fenglang struggled a few times before painfully breathing his last.
Then, the two men cut off the wind wolf's limbs, cut open its belly, took out its inner core, and kicked the corpse aside.
"Big brother, we only need three more to go back and report." The speaker was a short, dark-skinned man who, despite his small stature, was surprisingly agile.
The other man was slightly taller, with a scar on his face, and looked fierce. He wiped the blood off his hands and said coldly, "You worthless thing, how much silver can you exchange for these inner cores?"
"What does Big Brother mean?" The short, dark-skinned man looked at his older brother suspiciously.
"Let's go back and keep an eye on them. It's been so many days, they should be making their move tonight." A terrifying desire gleamed in Scarface's eyes as he strode into the woods.
"Wait, brother, there are so many of them, what advantage can we possibly gain?" the short, dark-skinned man said as he chased after them.
Qian Youxue overheard their conversation and became somewhat interested in what they were looking for. Most bounty hunters would rush out to hand in their completed orders, and judging from the techniques they used against the wind wolves, they must have reached the Martial Spirit level.
“Miss, the short, dark-skinned man is called Dongming, and the scarred man is called Dongfeng. They are both bounty hunters from the auction house. When we met them a year ago, they had just broken through to the Martial Spirit realm. They probably saw something good. Why don’t we go and take a look? Maybe we’ll find something too.” Yunhe told her master about the two men’s background. She had seen bounty hunters doing their side jobs quite often.
The people at the auction house were well-traveled and experienced; ordinary items didn't hold their interest. Yunhe's comment only fueled Qian Youxue's curiosity about what they were looking for.
So the three of them, master and servant, followed the Dongfeng brothers into the woods.
Along the way, they encountered two more battles, which they skillfully avoided, maintaining a certain distance from the two brothers, until they made a new discovery just before dark.
"Brother, look, they're still guarding the cave entrance." Dongming pointed to a spot not far away, where he could vaguely see people in the trees and bushes.
Dongfeng stared intently ahead for a while before slowly speaking: "This cave entrance is rather mysterious. Several people were poisoned when we approached it last night. What's inside is probably a highly poisonous creature."
Highly poisonous?
Things that prefer to live in caves usually don't like to come out during the day; they're generally snakes, insects, rodents, and the like. Dongfeng said someone was poisoned yesterday, but didn't say whether they died, which suggests that the creatures inside are mostly small; otherwise, it wouldn't be as simple as just poisoning.
As Qian Youxue was thinking, she heard a murmur of conversation coming from the cave entrance.
"Damn it, that thing is a coward! It's been so many days and we haven't even seen a shadow of it."
"The higher-ups have already given instructions; we have to wait, even if we don't have it yet!"
"How are those guys from yesterday? Are they still alive?"
"Don't worry, it was just poisoning, it's been cured, and he'll be back soon."
"This can't go on forever, perhaps..."
After he finished speaking, the person who had spoken instructed everyone to find some dry grass, pile it up at the entrance of the cave, sprinkle something on it, and then set it on fire. After that, everyone retreated together.
Unfortunately, fate wasn't on their side. At that moment, the wind was blowing in the opposite direction, and the smoke couldn't get into the cave at all; instead, it was blowing towards them.
"Oh my god! This trick won't work!"
"No...no!"
Before the other person could finish speaking, he collapsed to the ground. Seeing this, the leader waved a porcelain bottle in front of his nose, and the person who had collapsed groggily regained consciousness.
Upon seeing that the person had woken up, the leader spoke up: "All of you, get to the side and don't get too close."
