Chapter Forty-Five: The Only Descendant of the Thousand Families

At this moment, Qian Sheng was attending court. The old lady knew that Qian Bowen was coming back, so she waited at the door long ago.

Even the old lady came out, so naturally no one else dared to be negligent. Even Madam Su, who usually stayed in the Buddhist hall, came out as well.

Su Shi stared coldly at the approaching carriage, took a deep breath, and stole a glance at Liu Shi not far away. She found Liu Shi not as arrogant as usual, but rather standing there politely with a smile, which made her very uneasy.

Looking around, the others stood nearby, each with their own ulterior motives, but Qian Youxue was nowhere to be seen.

"Big sister is really arrogant. Even Grandmother came to greet her brother, but she didn't even show up," Qian Yingxue muttered to herself.

Unfortunately, the old lady had excellent hearing and only realized that Youxue hadn't come when she heard Qian Yingxue's voice. She frowned, gave Mei'er a wink, and Mei'er quietly slipped away.

The carriage finally stopped. As a mother, Madam Su missed her son the most. Before the old lady could speak, she quickly stepped forward and helped Qian Bowen out of the carriage.

After regaining his footing and seeing the large family clearly, Qian Bowen hurriedly stepped forward and knelt before the old lady: "Bowen kowtows to Grandmother!"

"Get up, get up quickly! It's windy, come inside quickly, or you'll get hurt." The old lady pulled him up with a pained expression, looked him over carefully, and her eyes welled up with tears as she saw her grandson was still as thin as a rake.

Strangely enough, ever since Meng Shi gave birth to Qian Yuexue, she has been unable to carry to term even when she becomes pregnant. The Qian family has not had any offspring for many years, and Qian Bowen, this frail child, has become the Qian family's only descendant.

"Grandmother, don't catch a cold." Qian Bowen sensibly helped the old lady into the courtyard.

Watching the grandmother and grandson walk away, Su felt a pang of sadness.

She gritted her teeth in hatred. If it weren't for that old man, her son wouldn't have had to come back and risk his life. The Qian family hadn't had an heir for so long; she always felt something was amiss.

"Congratulations, sister! You should be happy to be reunited with your child. Why are you looking so gloomy?" Aunt Liu asked as she walked over to Madam Su, who had a long face and a swaying back.

Even though she was suffering from bitterness, Madam Su couldn't lose her confidence. She glanced at Aunt Liu and said, "Bowen is the only son of the Qian family and the apple of my eye. There is nothing happier than a mother and son being reunited. You can't understand this kind of happiness."

"You!" Aunt Liu glared angrily, this was an insult to her for not being able to bear a son.

Seeing that she had angered Aunt Liu, Madam Su stopped lingering and strode into the courtyard.

Aunt Liu vigorously rubbed the silk handkerchief between her fingers. How long could a sickly man like Qian Bowen withstand the torment in this deep mansion?

You'll be smug for a few days, but you'll be crying soon!

Thinking about it this way, her mood improved slightly.

"Mother, don't be angry. I'll take care of them for you sooner or later." Although Qian Yingxue was willful and capricious, she would often try to make Aunt Liu happy.

However, this time Aunt Liu was not happy. Instead, she angrily warned, "Stay put and behave yourself. If that woman finds out anything, don't blame me for not taking care of you."

"Mother, you!" Qian Yingxue pouted, looking aggrieved.

Standing to the side, Aunt Lan covered her mouth and chuckled, ignoring Aunt Liu's angry glare, and swayed her slender waist as she entered the gate.

"Damn vixen, I'll kick you out sooner or later!" Aunt Liu cursed in a low voice, turning to look at Qian Yingxue, who was still standing there angrily, and shouted irritably, "Aren't you coming in with me!"
